L.D.Q.A. -- 6/18
Back with more questions. Sorry I can't get to them all, but I try.
Q: What exactly do you do for TMZ? It just seems to me that working for TMZ would be a lot of fun. It was the place where I originally found you so, of course, I'm a fan of TMZ, so I just thought I'd find out what it takes to get a job there. -- Yvette
A: For some reason I got a lot of TMZ questions this week. I am a writer for TMZ, that's my job. When something says "TMZ STAFF" on it, that could be me. It's a lot of fun working for a popular entertainment news site and I work with a great group of people. Sometimes you get a little tired of Britney and Paris, but they are fun to poke fun of.
Q: I'm having a baby in January. We don't know yet if it's a girl or a boy. If you were having a baby, what names would you give it based on your favorite TV characters? My husband's not a LOST fan (and yet I'm still married to him!), so he's not into Rose or Desmond. -- Jodi
A: If it's a girl, I'd go with Veronica, after the recently departed "Veronica Mars." If it's a boy, I kind of like Dexter -- but then he might be a serial killer, so maybe that's not a good idea. How about Jonas -- as in Jonas Blaine from "The Unit"? It's different.
Q: Do you think that all those flash forwards of Jack could have just been what “would” have happened if they all left on the ship that’s wasn’t Penny’s? Next season could very well begin with Des finding the group and telling them not to get on the boat – so none of the bad things that Jack was going through would have happened. What do you think? -- Melissa
A: A few people have sent me this theory, but I can't say I am a fan of it (though it's certainly possible). I think the flash-forward was just done as a foreshadowing to show us everything will go to shit -- and that Henry Gale was right.
Q: Are there Losties you would have liked to have seen develop a friendship or closeness that were not paired up? Your choices can include Losties that have already died. Do you want to predict any future alliances among the Losties and/or the Others? -- Liz
A: Yes I would -- Jack and Henry Gale. I think they'll team up to fight off whoever Jack was talking to at the other end of that phone.
Q: All of the characters are so intricately woven, I don't have to give all of the examples here, but like at the end of this season, we saw how Charlie saved Sayid's lost love, Nadia on the streets of London (?); my question is 2 fold: 1) How on earth will Sun and Jin be woven in somehow to have had an encounter in their pre-LOST life with another Lostie; and 2) do you think all of the 'connections' will be explained to the Losties (what I mean, do you think they'll realize them), like Jack and Claire finding out they're half-siblings? -- Casey
A: I don't think Sun and Jin will be connected to anyone directly (though Hurley was on the TV during an early Sun/Jin flashback) but it wouldn't surprise me if Sun's dad was connected to someone (Penny's dad maybe?). As for part 2, I kind of like the idea that no one will find out any of the connections. Not sure why, but I think I'd prefer that we know more than they do.
Q: I don't remember if you said you were a Sopranos fan or not, but I was wondering what you thought of the ending. Would you be satisfied if Lost ended in a similar manner- everything goes black and the viewer gets to decide what happens. -- Vanessa
A: I do watch "The Sopranos," but I think it is the most overrated thing ever -- and I do mean ever. As for the ending, I loved the last scene. I always thought an underrated aspect to Tony's life was that he could get killed at any moment and that's what that scene emphasized. But to answer your question, if "Lost" does what "The Sopranos" did, you'll see my face on evening news with the words WANTED underneath it.
Q: Tough question for you: Top five lost characters....in order! -- Kristina
A:
5. Sayid
4. Desmond
3. Juliet
2. Locke
1. Henry Gale
Q: Any thoughts on who was the real Henry Gale? Remember Sayid dug up his body. -- Beth
A: No clue who he really is, but more importantly, how did he get there?
Q: What shows do you watch that are embarassing for you to admit to? -- Laura
A: I only watch one reality show, "Beauty and the Geek." I watched "Point Pleasant" when that was on. I had a "Days of Our Lives" problem in college and I used to watch "Guiding Light" every day with my mom when I was a kid.
Q: I'm a little afraid for you, because I fear that Charlie might not actually be dead. I'm thinking that he could have floated to the surface or something after going out the window in the looking glass. I could be wrong/crazy, but stranger things have happened on Lost. That being said, what is your biggest fear about what could happen next season on the show? -- Michelle
A: First off, HE'S DEAD. It's over. Secondly, my biggest fear for next season would be Henry Gale. I am always worried he could die and then I don't know what I would do. I love "Lost" and all, but I can't live without Henry Gale.
Comments
Oh Daniel,
How I enjoy reading your comments and answers to all! To respond to some of your responses:
- Shocked to not only see Sayid as your #1 (as conversation at dinner tonight, I declared to my family how I want to learn how to break someone's neck with my legs, like Sayid, and as horrified as my mother was, my dad couldn't have been more proud!) but Locke as your #4....
- I don't think you would be the only "wanted" person if LOST
ended the series like the Sopranos did.........I don't think the word "riot" would come close to describing it either!
- And finally, tell Harvey I would SO be perfect to work at TMZ!!! I am the queen at finding out stupid celebrity gossip! As my mother says to others, "There was first the phone, then the internet and now the Elizabeth!" Yeah, I'm THAT good! =)~
I heart you!
Talk to you guys later!
me! =)

Hey [ me!=) ],
Have you ever heard of a phenomenon called "descending order"? Look it up, and go back and read Daniel's response to the favorite characters question.
Rich DeBerg
PS - Just sign your name, it makes it easier for everyone.
Posted by: Rich DeBerg | June 18, 2007 04:42 AM
Rich you crack me up! So, who would your top 5 characters be in order - ascending or descending? ;0) Mine would be...
1. Desmond
2. Locke
3. Henry Gale
4. Hurley
5. Jack
Posted by: Tracy | June 18, 2007 05:11 AM
As always, good questions and good answers. Daniel, I laughed so hard when you said Dexter, but maybe not due to the he was a killer. My husband and I have been having this discussion with everyone. If we have a boy we are planning on naming him Dexter and our close friends are concerned with the fact that we are avid watchers of the show. I clearly don't worry about it, I just love the name. But I did find it really funny that you also took into account the killer aspect!
Have a great day everyone!
Posted by: Tristan | June 18, 2007 05:23 AM
Thanks Tracy. Instead of the Top 5, I am going to give you my Least Favorite 5 characters to have appeared in Lost: (in descending order)
5) Henry Gale (teenage version)
4) Miss Klugh
3) Baby Aaron
2) Paulo
1) Shannon
Rich DeBerg
Posted by: Rich DeBerg | June 18, 2007 05:25 AM
oh Rich... starting so soon are we?
my top 5:
1. Hurley
2. Sawyer
3. Desmond
4. Rose
5. Locke
i know, some of the most overlooked characters, but i believe they are integral to the whole Lost cause. Walt follows in at a close 6th.
Posted by: sarah | June 18, 2007 05:28 AM
my top five
5. Hurley
4. Locke
3. Jack
2. Henry Gale
1. Sayid
I know Sayid is my first - which is rare for a lot of people. But I don't think he has that long left (I think they will kill him) and therefore I want to know as much about him as possible.
Posted by: shannon | June 18, 2007 05:43 AM
Like Rich, I am going to put in my Least favorite five:
5. Charlie
4. Roger (even being Uncle Rico can't save you)
3. Paulo
2. Nicki (that was the name of Paulo's girlfriend? She was so insignificant that I barely remember.)
1. SHANNON!!!
Posted by: Tristan | June 18, 2007 06:25 AM
Shannon - I hope that they don't kill Sayid -he is the one strong character who is stil stable. Jack is too gullible, and Locke is, well, who the heck knows what is really going on with Locke? Sawyer is distracted by Kate. I think Hurley is deeper than the writers have let on, and his actions in the finale have upped his leadership ranking, but the group needs Sayid. My list is going to be a little different - instead of a list of my "favorite" characters, which changes episode by episode (sometimes scene by scene)it is a list of who I want more info/flashbacks on:
1. Jacob (of course)
2. Richard
3. Danielle
4. Henry Gale
5. Juliette
Good question, Daniel, about the how the original Henry Gale got to the island. My theory is that he was a precursor to Naomi - a spy for the Other Others who was not as fortunate as Naomi. It seems unlikely that two people just happened to parachute onto the island and not be connected. If Desmond had not found her, I think she would have had a similar fate as Mr. Gale (while she healed rapidly once she was cut down, I don't think she would have survived if she had not had some immediate medical attention).
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 06:35 AM
I am new here, so excuse the dumb question. Why do you call him Henry Gale, when he was masquerading as HG and is really named Benjamin Linus?
Thanks for the great blog!
Posted by: blog_newbie | June 18, 2007 06:38 AM
Ok, I think I'll post both my fav and least fav:
Favorite:
1. Sayid
2. Locke
3. Sawyer
4. Hurley
5. Mr. Ecko (R.I.P.)
**If Boone was still on the show, he would be #2, with those eyes how could you resist.**
Least favorite:
1. Charlie
2. Kate
3. Paulo
4. Nicki
5. Smoke Monster LOL

Thanks for answering my question, Daniel! I feel so special that my question was first! By the way, when I comment, I'm 'flacamama'. And I'm 'flacaymochi' on your myspace friends list...

blog_newbie - Welcome! If you go back and read earlier blogs, you will see that there are quite a few posts on this matter. Daniel calls him "Henry Gale" because he likes the name better than "Ben Linus." Many of us follow suit out on this board, just because Daniel uses it - or because we want to annoy the people who insist on calling Ben by his correct name. It does get confusing for me at times, because I have to remember which blog I am posting to when I mention Henry/Ben - and I know that I have probably used Ben at some point. Fortunately, Daniel is pretty laid back on the matter, and doesn't kick anyone off for using "Ben".
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 07:08 AM
I think the real Henry Gale really was just a guy in a balloon from Wayzata who got blown off course and Benry happened upon the wreckage and assumed a cover identity.
Anyway, my five favorite, not necessarily in order because it changes every week:
Hurley
Rose/Bernard
Sawyer
Juliet
Jin
Five hottest, in order:
5/ Desmond
4/ Jack
3/ Jin
2/ Sayid
1/ Sawyer
Creepiest
5/ Charlie
4/ Jacob
3/ Tom (Mr. Friendly)
2/ Locke
1/ Benry
Most missed (died too soon)
5/ Ana
4/ Ethan Rom
3/ Boone
2/ Eko
1/ Libby
There are so many more categories this could be expanded into...

Random thought before I try to do actual work today -- since the real Henry Gale was buried, and he allegedly had a wife with him when he crashed (according to Benry's story), could the Others have taken her/killed him so they had another woman to experiment on?
Posted by: Janelle | June 18, 2007 07:31 AM
Can someone refresh my memory on the question:
"Q: Any thoughts on who was the real Henry Gale? Remember Sayid dug up his body. -- Beth"
I don't remember there being a "real" Henry Gale or it being dug up... I've seen every Lost episode, but I'm drawing a blank here.
Thanks!!
Posted by: Vanessa | June 18, 2007 07:32 AM
My fab five are:
5. Hurley
4. Sawyer
3. Henry
2. Locke
1. Sayid
I thought I'd throw in my favorite characters I love to hate. It is really a love hate relationship, because I would really hate it if anything happened to them and they were not in the show anymore. Different from people that I would just like to see gone from the show. Some peeps made both lists.
5. Jin in the early days
4. Claire
3. Ben
2. Locke
1. Michael

I might as well get in on the Top 5 list! ;-)
My Top 5 best-looking and most attractive Losties. Gender doesn't matter.
5- Juliett
4- Richard
3- Jack
2- Kate
1- Sawyer (I know Lauren will agree with me!)
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 07:40 AM
Sayid went back to the site where Henry Gale said he landed. They dug up the body and found a wallet with a picture ID for Henry Gale. It was not Henry's (Ben) picture. That's when they came back and started torturing Henry.
Posted by: Teresa Lynn | June 18, 2007 07:41 AM
Vanessa, Teresa Lynn answered your question, but you have to go back and watch this episode, I think me! =) would agree with me that when Sayid comes back from the "crash site" and confronts Henry, he looks oh so ready to kick butt when we see the driver's license pic of black Henry Gale, uh oh it's butt whooping time...
Posted by: Yvette P. | June 18, 2007 07:46 AM
My faves:
1. Locke
2. Sayid
3. Henry Gale
4. Jack (now that the old Jack is back!)
5. Jin
Posted by: cathead67 | June 18, 2007 07:49 AM
I agree with Daniel on the Sopranos ending, I really really loved it. (Although for about 5 seconds my husband and I yelled at each other looking for the remote!! As it was, I was already covering my eyes thinking that something nasty was about to happen.)
Thankfully, LOST producers did say that they will not end it like the Sopranos. They said they will give closure and answer all the questions. It was on CNN or something like that.
Posted by: Janice (formerly Belle) | June 18, 2007 07:56 AM
Sorry - I had completely forgotten that the original HG arrived via balloon, not parachute. Well, that certainly blows a hole in my parachute theory, doesn't it? This is what I get when I try to find links to everything - my brain starts creating new ones where none exist! Thanks for the correction!

hmmmmm top 5 gorgeous people male or female???
5. Jack
4. Anna Lucia
3. Kate
2. Boone

Top 5 gorgeous characters male or female, subject to change at my slightest whim:
5. Sun
4. Richard
3. Jin
2. Sayid
1. Sawyer
Kate and Jack are physically attractive, but Kate is too annoying and Jack bores me.

Hey, Daniel,
LOST won't end with a blackout, so say the writers. Here's an article: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/television/news/e3i40c53e11c19e214eb627b388db788b37?imw=Y

Why is Ben still being referred to as "Henry Gale?"
Or are you talking about someone else?
Posted by: JEFF | June 18, 2007 08:29 AM
I think he's answered that several times now. He just likes to do it!
Posted by: cathead67 | June 18, 2007 08:31 AM
Oh, and so do we. : )
Posted by: cathead67 | June 18, 2007 08:32 AM
Hmmm... my top five:
5. Sawyer
4. Mikhail
3. Locke
2. Desmond
1. Henry Gale
Kate's used to be on there, but her flashbacks have gotten progressively weaker and the whole marrying a hobbit thing kinda ruined the eye candy she had going.
As far as lost names go, my girlfriend and I went through them and really couldn't come to a consensus. Locke as a middle name isn't bad and we both like Benjamin, but unfortunately the latter is my brother's name so that ain't gonna happen. :)

there are so many things going on in lost that it sometimes feels overwhelming trying to keep track. i think it would be nice to get a brief recap of some of the main unexplained story lines. for example, how do you explain the losties being found dead?
Posted by: djm2 | June 18, 2007 08:43 AM
djm2... are you nuts?!?!? LOL
Posted by: Ana | June 18, 2007 08:45 AM
I think dmj2 means the second plane ...
Posted by: Janelle | June 18, 2007 08:47 AM
I think Naomi is bad and made it up.
Posted by: cathead67 | June 18, 2007 08:50 AM
how do you explain the losties being found dead?
Wich one's??
Posted by: Laura | June 18, 2007 08:54 AM
I also think Naomi made that up!
Posted by: Janice (formerly Belle) | June 18, 2007 09:04 AM
"how do you explain the losties being found dead?"
Don't forget that both Naomi and Cooper (Locke's father) said that the plane had been found, so it is not a matter of one person lying. Unless you think that Naomi and Cooper were working together, they were both telling the truth (as they knew it) when they said that Flight 815 had been found.
I know that I have already had one theory blown out of the water today, but I am going to go out on a limb again. It's a pretty secure limb, because plenty of other people have mentioned it as well. Since the plane was conveniently "found" at an inaccessible depth, a camera was lowered to "confirm" the identity of the plane and passengers. However, we know that the Henry's group has manipulated off-island events in the past. I am going with the theory that the Other's were behind the "discovery" of the bogus Flight 815 and the subsequent under-water camera identification, as well. I don't think that they even had to come up with a fake plane and bodies - all they had to do was create the images to be sent back to the surface.
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 09:27 AM
I agree with Daniel about the flash forward-it served not screw with our minds but to reinforce the fact that Naomi & Co. is bad news.
My Top 5 who are going to Bite the Dust Next (in ~CRAZY~ order):
3. Danielle
1. Sun
5. Sayid
2. Sawyer
4. Henry Gale

5.Sayid
Most Hated 5:

3."About to cry" Jack

Angel: I love it!! It's so true, the worst is the "About to Cry" Jack and the "Furious, I mean Business" Jack--I mean it seems like his eyes are about to pop out their sockets and possibly eat your head all in the same breath...I read somewhere that Jacks reactions are bipolar: utter calm to crack-head in less than 2 seconds!!

3-Sun
4-Hurley
5-Sawyer
Have a great day!

Sadly no Sayid, Ana. I do like Sayid, but his character just hasn't been the same since Shannon died. He's kinda reverted to a human swiss army knife - he's only seen when there's a specific use for him.
I do this changes next season. His flashbacks have been universally good though.
Posted by: Jay | June 18, 2007 10:01 AM
Human swiss army knife---getting a visual. Ha!! Sad, but true.

Susan, you are the only person I've been able to find on myspace. I should of left you a message. I'm a newbie to myspace; my daughter is going to give me a tutorial when she comes to visit next week. The pictures were a little icky, but it is great you've overcome all that.
Posted by: Teresa Lynn | June 18, 2007 10:07 AM
Favorite LOSTies?? That's a hard one...
1-Sawyer, of course
2-Hurley, who I've loved since the first episode
3-Claire--she's just so happy!
4-Sayid (how can you not love Sayid?)
5-Mr. Eko--you were just awesome.
Least favorites?
1-Jack. Smug bastard.
2-Ana Lucia. She shot Shannon, first of all, and then she just turned mean.
3-Nikki
4-Paulo (they shouldn't even get their own spots on the list, but I hate Nikki a tiny bit less because she caused Billy Dee Williams to show up on LOST).
5-Juliet. Yes, she is pretty and clever and a good character, but for some reason, I just hate her.
5 Hottest LOSTies??
1-SAWYER. Hands down.
2-Sayid--what is it about him??
3-Desmond. THAT ACCENT.
4-Charlie (yep, Charlie--sorry, Daniel!)
5-Mikhail. I have no idea why, but I find Mikhail terribly sexay.

djm2, jeff, and any other newbies out there: it's ok to ask questions here about Lost. It's just that most of us have been here for awhile and have gone over most of them already. If you actually look up some of the older Lost diaries (from the Main page) you can see all of Daniel's blogs and catch up on a lot. It is very helpful. :)
Unfortunately some people that post here like to make sarcastic comments and then post them under other people's names. And it is obvious they are up to their old tricks again. So just IGNORE them. We try to anyway. Ana (the real one) is very nice to new people and has often helped many with any questions they have. :)
By the way, hello to Ana, Janelle, Teresa, Nan, Susan and Janice this morning!
I predict an alliance between Danielle and Sayid. That is assuming we find out Danielle is not a secret Other or anything. Maybe even a romantic one. Who knows?
Posted by: Carly | June 18, 2007 10:29 AM
Mikhail sexay? Ewwww!
Posted by: cathead67 | June 18, 2007 10:36 AM
Hi Carly! Ooohhhh - Sayid & Danielle...you know, Naveen Andrews likes older women (yay Naveen!). And she did tie him up when she first met him. That would be a very interesting relationship. OK, now I am actually going to go back to work. Daniel, I love your blog, but it's going to get me fired - LOL! If I do get canned, can you get me a job at TMZ??? :-)
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 10:37 AM

Carly, you got my back!! Nan, I'm sure Daniel can get you set up with a column: "Musings From Yoda"?!
Posted by: Ana (the original) | June 18, 2007 10:54 AM
Nan -- I like your theory! All the Dharma folks (or whoever is in charge now) have to say is that the plane crashed in deep water and show staged photos, they didn't even have to find enough bodies to prove it ... brilliant!
Susan, would love to go to your myspace site, (as well as Daniel's) but its blocked by the company and my now ancient Mac at home does not get along with myspace....
I am a writer, Daniel, if anyone should get a job at TMZ ....
Posted by: Janelle | June 18, 2007 10:55 AM
Nan: Love your "out-on-a-limb" theory! It's actually a much simpler explanation, when you think about it: that Henry Gale and company doctored video that created "the 'discovery' of the bogus Flight 815 and the subsequent under-water camera identification." It sure beats parallel universe, hell/purgatory or time/space continuum explanations.
Okay, I have to get in on the Top Five action. This is tricky. I can't really decide on my own criteria! Who is making the most of the Island Experience is one element. Who has the most intriguing back story is another. Comic relief and being easy on the eyes doesn't hurt either.
I couldn't settle on 5, so I went for 7. The countdown:
7. Sayid
6. Sun
5. Sawyer
4. Hurley
3. Mr. Eko
2. Jin
1. Locke
Posted by: Vermonter | June 18, 2007 10:58 AM
Dang! I forgot that Mr. Cooper also remarked about there being no survivors. I think there's definitely some plot to keep people away from the island, so the story had to be concocted so no one would think to look there for the losties.

And oh, nevermind about the job at TMZ.......I'm the worst writer EVER and I guess spell check isn't my friend after all! Boo......

Susan, I tried looking at your ankle pics too and to add you as a myspace friend, but your page keeps crashing my computer! Yikes, but I'll keep trying...

I read Daniel's blog all the time but I dont recall a lot of theories on the Buddhist connection. There a 108 volumes of the Buddhas's word that have been translated and of course Namaste is a Buddhist term translated to 'I bow to you' and Dharma means 'right way of living' or 'proper conduct', does anyone else have more Buddhist theories?
Posted by: Janet | June 18, 2007 11:55 AM
Nope, my theory is that the island is the original Eden, which is why it's unplotable
Posted by: Janelle | June 18, 2007 12:02 PM
Ok someone is posting under my name now. I did not post at 9:59. Daniel isn't there anything you can do about this, like looking at the isp numbers and finding out who is doing this?
Posted by: ♥ Susan ♥ | June 18, 2007 12:04 PM
And btw, yes those are pictures of my broken ankle and subsequent surgery that went all awry. Those pictures are graphic but they were put there to give people hope if they are going through the same thing.
I almost lost my foot.
Posted by: ♥ Susan ♥ | June 18, 2007 12:06 PM
Teresa Lynn, I did not post that about my myspace page. Yes, I have overcome a lot. Thanks.
Posted by: ♥ Susan ♥ | June 18, 2007 12:08 PM
And the categories are....
BEST ACCENT: Sayid & Desmond (tie)
BEST LOOKING IN VERY LITTLE CLOTHING: Sawyer & Kate (tie)
BEST TORTURER: Sayid (hands down)
"IF-LOOKS-COULD-KILL": Juliet & Ben (tie)
BEST KISS: Sawyer & Kate (numerous times)
BEST EYES: Claire
BEST FLASHBACKS: Locke
As you can tell, i'm very bored at work today!

Susan, I wish I could look at them ... which drs did you use? One of my friends got a cadaver ankle, did the surgery in Calif, somewhere near LA. And I don't know that Daniel has the time or expertise to track down who is fake posting ... although that sucks for whoever is immature enough to do that.
Posted by: Janelle | June 18, 2007 12:11 PM
All I can say to the lowlife, cowardly dog who posted under my name and told people to go to my myspace page and look at my "gruesome" ankle injury pictures is get a life!
And to all the nice posters here who either have looked at the pictures or have tried to get on my page and made a nice comment here I want to say thanks. I don't know why I am so upset by this but those photos were not meant to freak anyone out or for someone to get their freaky jollies off. They are simply there to give others hope when the outlook seems bleak on an infected surgery. I would never want anyone to look at them and make sport of them. I'm still suffering the consequences of that surgery and believe me it's been the hardest thing I have ever had to overcome besides the death of my mother.
Shame on the person who tried to make light of the page and pictures.

Ana..even my 10 year old daughter is annoyed by "about to cry" Jack. She told me one day that she doesn't like "Dr. Jack" anymore because he acts spoiled and needs a spanking! And she LOVES Hurley.
Posted by: Angel | June 18, 2007 12:21 PM
Susan, I'll give you 1 gues as to who the perp could be....
Janelle: If you are hard up for some cool info you should check out Jay's site (posted at 10:01) You'll like it...I'm his unofficial cheerleader!!
Posted by: Ana (the original) | June 18, 2007 12:24 PM
Janelle, I'm from WV and had the surgery in Charleston. There were numerous reasons why the surgery got infected and NOT the surgeons fault I don't believe.
When I initially broke the ankle and btw ribs also, I was told I needed surgery, but I wanted a second opinion. Long story short, it was almost 2 weeks after the break before surgery was performed. The length of time after the break and surgery and wrong after surgery care instructions from a ding bat nurse is the reason I believe both incisions on both sides of the foot got infected.
I'm doing great now, taking it one day at a time. At least now I can walk and I thank God for that.

Ana, girl, I hear you and agree 100 percent. How you doing?? :P
Posted by: ♥ Susan ♥ | June 18, 2007 12:31 PM
sorry you pictures on your MySpace profile have been exploited, Susan. i assure you no one is going to make fun of you here. we are all a good bunch of people, but its a shame that the public atmosphere is allowing anonymous "ghost posters" to tarnish our good fun.
Posted by: sarah | June 18, 2007 12:31 PM
Angel: LOL!! Who doesn't L.O.V.E Hurley! Even kids don't behave like Jack!! Well, your 10 y/o reaction is understandable....My 3 y/o likes to sing the Drive Shaft tune, in the high squeak pitch that Charlie first sang it in. "You are everybody! You are everybody! You are everybody!" Good God almighty, he knows how it annoys me
Posted by: Ana (the original) | June 18, 2007 12:32 PM
Thanks Sarah. :)
Posted by: ♥ Susan ♥ | June 18, 2007 12:48 PM
Geez, it's amazing that 98% that post on here are good natured people, that are having a good time chatting and what-not, and then there's the 2% that live to ruin it for everyone else...and thrive off it at that - disgusting.
Susan - sorry that happened to you (about the post to your myspace page) whoever did that is just wrong and pathetic...not to mention an ass, but Karma is a bitch and what comes around, goes around.
Posted by: Kerin (formerly mr burns) | June 18, 2007 12:57 PM
Thanks Kerin. Oh I agree what goes around comes around. No doubt in my mind. :)

When Daniel asked us to become friends on his myspace account, it seemed like I had to have an account even to look at his site - am I remembering this correctly? I know that I had to have one to join his friends list, but can you look at a site if you don't have an account? Just curious....
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 01:27 PM
I agree Ana. I've told Jay he is definitely smarter then the average bear.
Janice, I love your categories! I have to add:
WORST HAIR ON THE ISLAND: Hurley. He needs to find some Dharma hair gel
WORST FLASHBACK: Nicki and Paulo, because it didn't lend anything of real importance to the story, even in the scene with Ben and Juliet.
WORST EYES: Mikhail, Patchy. Speaks for itself.
Janelle, very interesting. What do you write?
Nan, you don't have to have a my space account to just look. I know because I don't have one but I can look at someone's and their friends. You just can't write anything to them. I just haven't made one yet because I had a crazy stalker last year (very scary) and I've just been nervous about setting anything up like that. But you can poke around, no problem. :)
Posted by: Carly | June 18, 2007 01:41 PM
I've got to read what this Jay person has on his site...maybe tomorrow.
CARLY: LOL! The Worst Hair cracked me up! Dharma diet pills could help too!
THE PROFESSOR: Sayid
GILLIGAN: Hurley
GINGER: Shannon
SKIPPER: Jack
MR.& MRS.HOWELL: Bernard and Rose
MARYANN: This one is tough, there isn't anyone "sweet" on the island.
If you know what I'm talking about than you're my age!
Posted by: Janice (formerly Belle) | June 18, 2007 01:54 PM
Maybe Libby could be Maryann. Or Claire.
Posted by: Hannah | June 18, 2007 03:33 PM
Maryann - Sun or Claire. Maryann was tougher than everyone gives her credit for - she had to be, to have been Ginger's hut-mate for all those years!
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 03:47 PM
Susan - I am sorry that someone is back to posting under other people's names - imagine the culprit as a lonely 12 year old (that's the only type of person who gets their kicks out of posting under other people's ID's) and rest assured that he (or she) will eventually get bored and go away or grow up a little. In the meantime, if we read a post that sounds out character for the person, we should assume that it's not them, and move on to the next message. Life is too short to waste time on people like that.
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 04:07 PM
Nan, you're the best...Stayed away for the same reason. Hope you weren’t canned:) Are you hiding in the supply room with your laptop? Did you see? I got name-hacked again. Oy, vey! I don't remember being this annoying at 12.
Posted by: Ana (the original) | June 18, 2007 04:15 PM
Well, I can't make that call for you, Ana, but I know that I was highly annoying when I was twelve. Of course, I didn't see it that way then - I just thought I was exceedingly clever when I made my prank calls!
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 05:20 PM
Thanks Nan, you're the best :).

Obviously we got off the Top 5 lists. Oh well. I was always a late bloomer. Here are mine:
Top 5 FAVORITES (these are pretty self-explanatory)
5. Sun (I just really root for her)
4. Richard Alpert (aside from my Nestor Carbonell fetish...)
3. Jack (I don't care what you say. It started with him and it'll end with him, as far as I'm concerned)
2. Henry Gale
1. Locke
Top 5 DEARLY DEPARTED (those who left before their time)
5. ... I can't think of anyone else dead whom I miss...
4. Mr. Friendly
3. Goodwin (I would have loved to see more of who he really was)
2. Libby
1. Ethan Rohm (I swear, he will be mega-important yet...)
Posted by: ali | June 18, 2007 06:25 PM
Hi Ali - I agree with you about Richard - there is so much more to his story, and I think it will blow us away when it is told. I also agree with you about Ethan - I think that we have seen him more since he died (via flashbacks) than we did when he was alive! A doctor/plumber/spy - all rolled into one rather creepy, but fascinating, guy. It is a little odd that they would send one of the few physicians they had out to infiltrate the survivors' camp. I know it seems silly, but maybe they should have sent, oh, someone from security? But you never know - it all may make perfect sense at the end of Season 6.
As for Libby - she is one of the biggest dead question marks out there (not including Jacob) - I guess they had to remove her once Desmond returned, since they would recognized one another - but I really do wonder about her connections to the Hurley and Des (and Flight 815 in general - I can't recall if anyone had confirmed that she was really on the plane).
And I love Sun, too - and Jin, as well. Here's hoping that Juliet lied about the DOC.
Posted by: Nan | June 18, 2007 06:53 PM
Hey Nan & Ali: I always wonder what Richard-I-Love-My-Eyeliner-Alpert would think if he knew that Henry wasn't the only special one that has seen a "ghost"/island manifestation. That Kate has seen her horse, Jack has seen his dad, Hurley saw Dave, Ecko saw his brother, and that Shannon and Sayid saw Walt. Maybe the dynamic between The Others and the Losties would be drastically different if they knew that they (or some of them) were "special" too....
Posted by: Ana (the original) | June 18, 2007 07:35 PM
Hello my fellow lost fans! I'm not gonna post my top 5 anything but I think Daniel should have a FAQ section so we can get rid of repeated questions and theories. I am the first to admit to asking or throwing out a theory that's already been discussed. Maybe then we can progress to even MORE crazy theories!
Posted by: Maria | June 19, 2007 06:05 AM
Carly -- for the better part of the past 15 years I've been a newspaper reporter (3 states, police/schools/court/gov't beats). I recently sold out for more $$ and am writing marketing communications copy for an international direct marketing company (but still stringing for the newspaper I last worked at).
Oh, and thanks everybody for the birthday wishes. It should have read that I turned 3% -- damn, for some reason, that second number never comes out right :)
Posted by: Janelle | June 19, 2007 06:15 AM
Nan - Good. Freaking. Point. HAS anyone confirmed that Libby was on the plane??
(That would be a tough one, though, since Michael killed her after being in the company of the Others. Maybe she'll turn out to be an Other-other. Or maybe I'm reaching and I'm the kind of fan the producers make merciless fun of.)
And Ana... Yes. YES. I want more answers about "special" people, especially since the Others apparently got over Walt's special-ness pretty damn quickly...
Perhaps they'll kill Claire off (Claire is to Ali as Charlie was to Daniel) and Aaron will start manifesting some crazy, whacked-out powers.
Posted by: ali | June 19, 2007 07:59 AM
Aaron may already have powers. He cried when Charlie died, right? Hmm . . . Yes, I woudl love to see her off too. Let Jungle Nan Locke take care of Aaron and teach him the ways of the island.
Posted by: cathead67 | June 19, 2007 08:19 AM
Ok, I can't type. The words I flubbed are "would" and "Jungle Man." Aargh . . .
Posted by: cathead67 | June 19, 2007 08:20 AM
To your comment, Daniel, "But to answer your question, if "Lost" does what "The Sopranos" did, you'll see my face on evening news with the words WANTED underneath it." LMAO!!! I will be there right with you, as an accomplice or accessory! lol
Posted by: ssmcbroom | June 20, 2007 12:55 PM
My favs would be:
5. Rose.
4. Charlie. I'll admit that he had his annoying moments, but I still liked him.
3. Sayid.
2. Mr. Eko. He was awesome, and got stuff done! At least he seemed to.
1. Hurley. How can you not like him?
The ones that bug me the most. This is not a "hate list" or "wish would die list", but a "they bug me list"!!!!!!!
5. Locke
4. Ethan for being creepy creepy CREEPY!!!!!
3. Richard.
2. Mikhail. WHY WON"T HE DIE!!!?!!?!?!??
1. LOCKE LOCKE LOCKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't see how people can stand him! He is just so annoying! I mean in the first few episodes he was alright, but the hatch meant his downfall in my world. His annoying enough to be on here twice!
Sorry about the person using your name Susan.
I forget who posted it, but I like the Others staging the "815" be found thing. Sounds like them to me.
Posted by: Emily | June 20, 2007 08:25 PM
hey daniel,
quick little tidbit that i dont think you noticed that i thought was cool.
lemme know if you agree but if i remember correctly that telephone sex girl or whoever locke talked to to briung to australia said her name was helen....dont u think this could possibly be the helen that he is in love with from other flashback episodes of his since this clearly talks place after the flashback in which she leaves him. whats ur thoughts on that??
Geoffrey
Posted by: Geoffrey | June 20, 2007 09:36 PM
Goeffrey
Once Helen (Katey Seigal) dumped Locke's daddy-issued ass, I think Locke called a phone sex girl and called her Helen, because he wasn't ready to let her go any more than he was ready to let his dad issues go. So no, not the same woman, just in Locke's messed up mind.
I think that is why I am not a huge Locke fan -- he is a wuss in wolves clothing. He acts all tough and spiritual, but deep down he is an empty little boy.

In one of the answers up there, Daniel wrote: "it wouldn't surprise me if Sun's dad was connected to someone (Penny's dad maybe?)."
Sun's dad and Penny's dad actually ARE already connected.
On the sailing race that Desmond does (which Penny's dad's company sponsored), the logo for Sun's dad's company was on there as well.
Just food for thought!
