I don't like the sound of this at all...
Check out this article about Richard (Nestor Carbonell) and his future on "Lost."
I maintain my original prediction: his CBS show gets cancelled after 4 episodes and this all becomes moot.

Yeah Daniel, that TOTALLY Sucks!! Now I'm hoping Nestor's new show tanks. And I feel bad about thinking that way. Why didn't "LOST" sign him to a contract?? Surely they did, didn't they? Yeah not good. Sigh.

"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
Can't we all just get along!!?? Why can't they just send Nestor over to Hawaii for a few days to film? What's the big deal?
CANE can't get cancelled, IT JUST CAN'T!

IRONY AT ITS BEST.
While Lost was in it's first season (I think it was the first season), Terry O'Quinn - Locke - was also on the West Wing on NBC. He was playing the new head of the NSA - General Nicholas Alexander.
So tell me, why would the "powers that be" allow Locke to be on two shows on two networks at the same time, but not Nestor Carbonell - Richard???
To quote Sawyer, son of a b**ch!

I don't know if you covered this in any previous posts, but did you see both Henry Gale AND Locke have been nominated for an Emmy? How wonderful is this? A question for next week - do you think either of them has a chance? Will they cancel each other out? I personally don't know how they could NOT give an Emmy to Henry Gale.
Then, I am so disappointed that Juliet did not receive a nomination! And yes, I am fully aware of the actors' real names, I just choose not to use them. I like to think they are actually living on that island, and will somehow, perhaps via a flash forward, be able to attend the awards ceremony...:)

Did you read the readers' comments posted after that article? I agree with them! How stupid does that CBS executive think we - the viewing audience and her network's bread & butter - think we are? My apologies to the actor whose work I do enjoy, but there is no way I will watch, and thus support, that CBS show now!

I'm wondering, too, about the contract...surely ABC and Lost could have given another, maybe better contract to Richard, or did he just quit to go to CBS? That would seem particularly stupid, though.
And what about this...will Lost try to replace Richard with another actor? His character was always kind of obscure and not really a part of the story...until the end of last season. The journalist who wrote the article articulated it well enough when he was talking about Richard's ageless face. That IS a burning question that Lost can't leave unanswered. And the whole story about Richard's group being "the Hostiles" and were there when Dharma was, etc....there's a BIG story there on why Richard's group was there and why they were called "the Hostiles".
So, I'm guessing that CBS and Cane offered more money to Richard than ABC and Lost, so he left and won't be back unless Cane is cancelled...but would Lost have replaced him by then with someone who kinda looks like Richard? Will be interesting to see.

You know, it just might be possible that once Cane finishes shooting, then Nestor will be available for shooting Lost. Because I think right now, he's also totally busy with the next Batman movie. And all THIS will be moot.
What's the CBS exec going to say about that? Will she think that we're going to wonder why the bat-signal isn't shining over the rum business in Florida? That's dumb.... DUMB, I TELL YOU!!
Its not fair that some people wish CANE would fail. This is good for Nestor, a great lead role. Although, I (a devout Lost fan) can see his Richard role becoming increasingly important and significant to the plot in the next few years.
A CATCH-22 indeed, but workable if the networks can make it work.

I agree Janice, I've felt bad ever since I typed that about Nestor. I really don't want his new show to tank, but I'm sure going to miss him on Lost. Yeah it could be workable but it looks like CBS is going to be hard case about it.
