L.D.Q.A. -- 8/6
Sorry I am a little late today. Went to see the new "Bourne" movie last night -- liked, didn't love. I also finished season 2 of "BSG" this weekend -- good, not great. Anyway, let's roll.
Q: So, now that Charlie's dead (YOU killed him! I won't forgive you!) you gonna hate relentlessly next? I haven't forgiven you for ill-wishing him. I also blame you for the death of my goldfish that died just one day after Charlie. Coincidently, the fish was named Charlie. I think some of your negative energy must have been accidentally redirected to the wrong Charlie. I wonder how many other Charlies died that day cause you couldn't stop your haterade.
Love the blog (except for that fact that you killed my fish) -- Emily
A: To make an omelette, you gotta break some eggs.
A: I think Sayid would have become the leader. He seems to be the person most people could come to agreement on (except for early season 1 Sawyer). He's a great combination of practical and spiritual. Hell, Jack or no Jack -- he should be the leader.
Q: We could play a version of Sawyer and Kate’s “Have you ever?” game. Have you ever…
-- Not picked up the phone knowing it’s your boss because LOST was on?
-- Interrupted a conversation at Starbucks because you overheard people talking about LOST and had to pitch in your two cents?
-- Dreamt you were one of the main characters or that you were sleeping with one of the characters?
-- Looked into a flight and hotel to Hawaii just so you could stalk one of the actors?
-- Janelle
A: I can't decide if I think you guys think I am crazy or whether or not I should be worried about you. Do I qualify as a character witness?

My answer to all of these is "no." The closest I have come to any of these is the 2nd one, but not about "Lost." After seeing "Memento" in the theaters for the 4th time, I held what amounted to an impromptu Q&A session about the movie in the theater lobby.
Q: Am I the only person that thinks Christian Shepherd is really dead? -- Jen
A: Yes.
Q: If you could own any "Lost" action figure which would it be? -- Kristina
A: Ah, that reminds me! They have "Lost" action figures at the store downstairs from my office, but I haven't gotten one yet. They have one of everyone looking down the hatch at the end of season 1 -- that's the one I want.

I loved the new Bourne movie! And I loved Memento as well, by the way. Is it just me, or are the questions getting stranger?

Cat
Yeah, maybe the questions are a little bit stranger ... and I wrote one!
However, I HAVE not picked up the phone when it was my boss, to wait for a commercial break on LOST.
I HAVE thrown my two cents into a stranger's LOST conversation
And I HAVE had at least one good Sawyer dream.
Haven't yet considered stalking anyone tho.
I went to see Ultimatim last night, too, and thought it was excellent and probably the best of the three. I saw the this one and the last one in the big-big screen theater, which gets me a tad dizzy watching it.
I am getting my first DVD of BSG in the mail tonight, so will be catching up on that, too.

What does BSG stand for?
Posted by: Flicka | August 6, 2007 10:11 AM
Flicka - I believe it's Battle Star Galactica.

Ok...I may be more pathetic than most because:
Not only have I NOT answered the phone when Lost is on; my mother (who lives in another state) won't call me until she checks the program guide to make sure it isn't on.
I have listened in on other conversations about Lost and not only added my 2 cents, I regularly have people at work come ask me questions because I watch each episode more than once.
I've not had any dreams....good thing too because if I was dreaming about Sawyer I might just wish myself into a coma.
Never considered going to Hawaii (I'm poor) but I have a friend that recently moved there and he is scoping out info for me all the time.
Yep. Pathetic.

I love that we are the LOST addicts, Angel!
Posted by: Janelle | August 6, 2007 11:41 AM
I LOVE THIS GROUP! Angel, we're not pathetic, just TOTALLY devoted.
- Everyone who knows me, knows that they are not allowed to call me while LOST is on TV. And if they should be so bold as to make my phone ring, well "hell hath no fury" as a woman interrupted...
-I've chimed in on a conversation between co-workers and settled the issue they were debating!
-Does daydreaming count? Cause I have those about Sawyer or Sayid, or Sawyer AND Sayid, all the time!
-I can't afford to go to Hawaii but when I do, I'll probably hunt down the location.

ive ignored my friends so badly during Lost that they themselves started to watch, only to see what had me so enthralled.

Have you ever…
-- Not picked up the phone knowing it’s your boss because LOST was on?
Everyone knows if they call me between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday nights, they are getting voice mail...if it's an emergency, too bad, it'll wait!
-- Interrupted a conversation at Starbucks because you overheard people talking about LOST and had to pitch in your two cents?
OH, not only at Starbucks...I'll interrupt anywhere if I hear people talking about Lost lol
-- Dreamt you were one of the main characters or that you were sleeping with one of the characters?
Doesn't everyone? Isn't that how everyone goes to sleep at night???
-- Looked into a flight and hotel to Hawaii just so you could stalk one of the actors?
Stalk is such an ugly word lol...I can't afford the trip right now, but I'm saving up. One of my good friends lives just right down the road from where they shoot...and God help her, she doesn't even watch the show...the horror!!! I'm trying to convert her!

Hey, future stalkers! Don't forget to include a trip to Kualoa Ranch, on O'ahu's Windward side: http://www.kualoa.com/about.htm. You can actually visit this frequent Lost location shoot site and not get arrested! Do a horseback ride or ATV tour, and pump the guides for info. I didn't get a chance to do it last time I was back home--too busy with the old school reunion stuff, etc.
My sister and I have been reminiscing about the shows that shot when we were kids: Hawaii 5-0 and Magnum PI. The first two seasons of 5-0 have just come out on DVD, and I think she should start a Daniel-style blog about them. (She is a 5-0 superfan.) She and I snuck onto the estate where they filmed Magnum (in Waimanalo) one afternoon, when the law firm we were working for (one summer in college) was having its company picnic next door.
I'll chime in with location info, if anyone is interested--just ask. I think the producers do an AMAZING job of making O'ahu look like locations around the globe. Spotting familiar locales is one of the things that's fun for me about watching the show, as a native living in exile. For example, Desmond's monastery in S3 and Charlie's Manchester church courtyard in S1: both were filmed at St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral, in downtown Honolulu. They CGI'ed in the sweeping vista that Desmond and Penny looked out over from her car--there's major traffic on Beretania Street!
Fun fact: my dad was ordained in that cathedral, and my brother was married there. I also met Desmond Tutu there--and my dad and I had a brief private prayer session with him! Sorry for the name dropping--he's only the coolest person I've ever met!

Ok......I take no offense in being pathetic. In fact I wear it as a badge of honor! LOL To go one step further, I have actually answered the phone during Lost without the normal "Hello" but with "You'd better be half dead or missing a limb!" Everybody knows I am unavailable during the show. The only other show I was ever like that about was OZ on HBO....I had one friend that was allowed to call during OZ because she watched at the same time and we'd call each other, yell in the phone, and hang up....then discuss after the end of the show. Everybody I know that watches Lost is like me....doesn't want to talk to anybody during the show because you can miss an important detail. I've even done online chats during Lost and there will be nothing on the screen during the show and then the screen will fill up during commercials. I don't think anybody wants to be distracted during the show.

I usually always put my two cents into people having Lost convos...haha I'm a dork like that, I have no shame!
I had a weird dream about Jack, yet it was only after he hosted SNL.
I wish I was creative enough to ask Daniel questions!
Posted by: Maria | August 6, 2007 03:21 PM
That does beg the question though- how integral to the story can Jack possibly be if he was supposed to be killed in the pilot? I like Jack and think he should be with Kate (and will be) but if they had an end game from the beginning how could Jack have any part in it?

"A: To make an omelette, you gotta break some eggs."
Daniel...THAT'S why we love you...so darn funny. (I actually snorted when I read that.)

Sorry in advance if this has already been posted. Here is an interview from ew.com with Harold Perrineau (Michael) regarding his return to the show.

Not picked up the phone knowing it’s your boss because LOST was on?
My boss doesn't call my house, but my husband's job has called during Lost and was very surprised when instead of hello they were greeted with "WHAT KIND OF JERK CALLS WHEN LOST IS ON"?
-- Interrupted a conversation at Starbucks because you overheard people talking about LOST and had to pitch in your two cents?
Not at Starbucks, but I did at the grocery store before.
-- Dreamt you were one of the main characters or that you were sleeping with one of the characters?
Oh yeah.
-- Looked into a flight and hotel to Hawaii just so you could stalk one of the actors
No, but I was very irritated my cousin just moved back here from Hawaii. I was planning on "visiting" him.

You have a great point Jen. I wondered that as well, if Jack was going to be killed in the pilot, what does that say about his role on the show. But it's possible that once Matthew Fox signed on and they realized they wanted to keep him around that they tweaked things a bit. Who knows, I guess we'll have to wait and see. Can't wait until February!!!!

Any one else as excited about this possibility as I am? I am thinking boat-other ...

Someone on my friends list at MySpace wrote this bulletin:
TWO NEW CHARACTERS FOR SEASON 4
Russell
Late 30s, a brilliant mathematician and deep thinker who is capable of great insights and has a tremendous knowledge across various scientific fields. He sometimes struggles socially by being too direct and disconnected in his interpersonal relationships. While an empiricist by trade he is humbled and fascinated by the magic and mystery of all in this world that cannot be explained by science.
(Starts with Episode #401 -August 19, 2007 in Hawaii).
RECURRING ARC WITH A POSSIBLE OPTION FOR SERIES REGULAR FOR NEXT SEASON;
Charlotte:
Late 20s. Very attractive in a naturalistic, athletic way, her looks are only one
small part of charms. Precocious, loquacious, and funny, Charlotte a very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world. On a personal level it is hard to crack the hard shell of poise and certainty around her, but when it DOES crack its like an egg; lots of repressed and pent up emotions spill out.
(Starts with Episode #402 - August 29, 2007 in Hawaii).
RECURRING ARC WITH A POSSIBLE OPTION FOR SERIES REGULAR FOR NEXT SEASON.

Hi all-
The only person to ever call me during Lost is my aunt- but she only calls during commercials and usually the only thing we can say to each other is "OH MY GOD!! I can't believe that just happened!" No dreams and I have never interfered in a private conversation- but I had to bite my tongue the entire time not to.
ssmcbroom- I just read something on tvguide.com in an article about the producers trying to woo Kristen Bell into that "Charlotte" character role. I know a lot of people are a fan of hers from Veronica Mars so I guess we'll have to see she she joins up with the Losties!
Here's the article:

Well- til next time- take care everyone!
