LDQA -- 9/10

Before I start, did you see Britney's performance on the VMAs last night? I felt bad for her -- it was GOD AWFUL!!! Man oh man...

Q: If you could pick one regular character to die in the first half of Season 4, who would it be, and why? -- Allison

A: I've said it once and I'll say it again: Sawyer serves very little purpose for me anymore. He killed "the real Sawyer" -- what else is there? His nicknames are old, he already bagged Kate ... he does nothing for me anymore. I think it's about time an A-level castmember went (Charlie was B). Sorry ladies.

Q: Since I'm stuck waiting on a few of my favorite shows to come out on DVD, (Supernatural Season 2, Heroes Season 1, and of course Lost Season 3) can you recommend any movies? They don't have to be new releases. -- Amber

A: Depending on the city you live in, try and see "King of Kong." It's a documentary about a guy trying to break the world record in Donkey Kong. It was unbelievably good -- Ari and I were literally yelling at the screen, rooting for one guy and against another. Also, I thought "Superbad" was hysterical and "Knocked Up" was overrated.

On the DVD front, my favorite movie of all-time is "Fight Club," with "JFK," "Memento" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" near the top. My favorite movie of the last several years though is "Brick." It's like the most hard-boiled 1950s detective movie, but set in present day high school. The characters talk so strange, I had to watch part of the movie with the captions on. But you won't see a more uniquely written movie.

Q: What was your favorite movie of the summer? -- Amber

A: Toss-up between the aforementioned "King of Kong" and "Superbad," along with "Sicko." I thought "Bourne Supremacy" was good, but overrated. No way the last two Bournes were better than the first, "Bourne Identity" and neither of the last two were better than "Casino Royale," either. I also thought the new "Die Hard" was a little underrated.

Q: If you could bring dead LOST characters back to life, who would they be and why? -- Liz

A: I think it would have to be Boone, it would help the ladies get over the loss of Sawyer. Plus, I want Libby back, but really only in flashbacks, which could still happen. Why was she in the insane asylum? Dying to know.

Q: If you were stranded on an island (like our losties) and you could only have five albums with you to listen to for the rest of time. What would they be? List them by preference. Or in no order at all. -- Hannah.

A: Here we go ...

5a: "Midnight Marauders" -- A Tribe Called Quest
5b: "The Marshall Mathers LP" -- Eminem
4. "1999" -- Prince
3. "Purple Rain" -- Prince
2. "Sign O' the Times" -- Prince
1. "Kind of Blue" -- Miles Davis.

A little hip-hop, a lot of Prince, and the greatest CD of all-time by man Miles. I think I'd be good for life with that.

Sign O' the Times is two discs, so that should mean you have to drop another album to make room for it ...

If Sawyer dies this season I am boycotting you, and I bet some of the rest of us may too! Don't let the power go to your head, getting Charlie killed off!

I mean, I think Kate has become just as useless, but since we know she survives to get off the island ... it's just not fair.

I'm right there with you Janelle. Shirtless Sawyer needs no purpose other than to be naughty and shirtless. Boone just is not a good substitute. He's be a great sub for Jack and definitely for Michael, though.

Does Kate have any sort of purpose anymore?

and Britney at the VMA was just plain WTF? It was like someone got her smashed and shoved her on stage to sing someone else's song.

I felt bad for Britney. She didn't seem prepared, she looked scared stupid, and she moved like she was wacked out on drugs. I was really pulling for her. I was so hoping that she would prove everyone wrong and come out and light the VMA's on fire. It was just plain sad. I hope she seriously gets help before it's too late.

I also felt bad for Britney...she just seems so lost. It was horrible. I really though Sarah Silverman crossed the line too.

Daniel, Lauren is going to hate you!!! I don't know if I would watch a Sawyerless Lost. By the way, I felt really sorry for Britney. I hope she gets the help she so desparately needs.

Boone as a substitute for Sawyer? Are you serious? And all the women say NAY!

We can certainly get rid of Claire. She's not as important as Aaron is. In fact, Locke would be happy to raise Aaron should something terrible happen to Claire!

Daniel, bite your tongue! Sawyer stays just based on his striking good looks and his juicy southern drawl. Can I get an Amen?!

Remember when Sawyer calls Boone "Metro?" That is the difference -- Sawyer is studly, strip down to his jeans and build you a house kind of guy. Boone could put on a suit and call up a contractor (caterer, whatever).

The guys have their share of eye candy, let us have ours.

Janice-
AMEN!

I will second that AMEN! But, then again I have already stated my reasons for keeping Sawyer around....and I would like to keep a little glimmer of hope that the flash-forward future is not set in stone (yeah, I'm delusional)so that they can kill friggin' JACK!
As for Britney, I felt really bad for her last night and today...she just had no confidence at all last night and then today has to listen to and read about everybody calling her fat. She did look kind of "soft" but by no means was she fat. And Silverman was out of line by talking about her kids...period. They are babies and you do NOT talk about a woman's babies!

Janice- Amen, leave Sawyer alone! I don't want to see anyone go, but Claire would be my choice if they have to get rid of someone.

Sorry guys, I don't agree here. About Sawyer, yes. You can't get rid of him, he's wonderful. About Britney - no. I don't feel sorry for her at all. She needs a major wake up call and if she can't get a clue from a simple comedian like Sarah (who was funny by the way) then she is way past saving. She can keep fooling herself that she has created a healthy environment for her children and throw her life away in clubs and booze. Real classy gal. Sorry - not at all. Disgusted? All the way.
By the way Daniel, I also don't like Time's 100 Greatest Movie List. Just because a movie was made in 1927, when movies were brand new, doesn't mean it was good! I can think of 10 films right now that should have been there. (Geesh, I'm on a roll today, aren't I :) )

i agree with Carly. I saw TMZ on TV and she looked prepared in the rehearsals. so, i dont feel bad that she went out and partied until 4a the day of the performance, jacked up her performance ROYALLY, and got spit on by Sarah Silverman, even though Sarah Silverman doesnt deserve the name Sarah in my opinion.

Boone could never be a substitute for Sawyer.

a warning note: DO NOT go see The Brothers Solomon! It SUCKS! i saw it for free at a screening. it was, hands down, the worst "comedy" i have seen in my life.

Get rid of Kate and Jack. Maybe they can get killed off, and end up a limbo that looks like LA, where the only way to redeem their souls is by becoming three dimensional characters. Michael had also been killed off for the same reason, but managed to find some depth, and got sprung from limbo (hence the funeral - he is now dead to those still in limbo). Hopefully, when Michael returns to the show, he will do more than run around shouting "MY BOY!"

Daniel, if they kill off Sawyer, I will hold you responsible. I want to see how Sawyer redefines himself, now that he has had his revenge and has to find something else to focus his energies on. Boone is not a substitute. Anyway, Boone has already been reincarnated on High School Musical.

As for Britney - I was so ready to tear into her, but it was too sad. This is why it is bad to hire your friends and family when you become successful - you need to have someone in your life that doesn't see you as a checkbook. As for Sarah - leave the kids out of the jokes - having Britney and K-Fed as parents is enough of a hurdle for them to get over.

As I told Daniel before, I think Hollywood has become a virtual multi-media "reality" show, and all of these people are just actors who play trainwrecks. They really go home to nice, normal lives.

Janice,

Amen and Hallefrickinlujah!!!!

LOL! I love this blog.

As for poor ol' Britney...this is what happens when you're a child star and never experience that stupid "i-know-it-all" mentality that you do in high school. These past five years have not been good decisions on her part. Jodie Foster said it best when she said "Where is her Mother?!"
Probably counting her share of the royalties. Sad.

My five albums:

Seven and the Ragged Tiger - Duran Duran
Planet Earth - Duran Duran
Best of - Elton John
Best of - David Bowie
Best of - Depeche Mode
(tied with)
Best of - The Cure

And, yes, I "grew-up" in the 80's!

Hot UFO-Couples (2 women) have making love in you sity.
