“Gossip Girl” – Trashy, trashy, trashy – in that good way. Love this show and I love Kristen Bell’s narration. The only way I could love KB more was if she were about to become a cast member on a really cool show I watch. Wait, what’s that?
“Journeyman” – I actually watched it and it was actually kind of good. Too bad the ratings kinda blew. Oh well.
“Back To You” – Mildly funny, but my new rule with half-hour comedies is that they either have to be doing something interesting with the genre (think “Arrested Development”) or star someone I love. This has neither of those.
“Kid Nation” – I Tivoed it, but couldn’t bring myself to actually watch it. Can you put a price on your soul?

"JOURNEYMAN": I think I set myself up for disappointment. I couldn't get into it. And he was on ROME...
"CANE": I think I'm the only one here that actually liked it. I love inter-family drama, corporate drama and good looking people, this had all. Nestor was all bad, BAD in a good way. Nothing like Richard "Mr. Eyeliner" Alpert. Two more actors that I'm gonna keep an eye on: Eddie Matos and Michael Trevino. THEY'RE HOT! This show's got solid actors, from all over: ROME, OZ, LOST, WEST WING, etc. etc. I'm gonna give it a chance and keep watching.

So far all I have seen is 'Chuck'. I actually was quite entertained...ALIAS on helium...fun, butt kicking, and light comedy. Journeyman was kinda hard to get into...watched PBS instead.

I suck....I watched nothing. I miss TV. I miss LOST on TV....

Yeah Back to You was kinda funny but maybe it was because I am a Kelsey Grammer fan. Lost needs to start now!

I liked "Cane", sorry to say. As much as I'd like to see Richard back on Lost, he did a great job on "Cane". Jimmy Smits is always good, as is Hector E. Does anyone know if it got good ratings? I watched "Private Practice" and thought it was OK. Addison is a bit of a drama queen - I think that was played up too much. I also saw "Journeyman" and was having a hard time following it. Maybe it was just me - I get up early, so the last hour of prime time is hard for me to get into.

I get up early too and fell asleep during "Dirty Sexy Money" which I hope ABC has online. I'd like to see what I missed because I did enjoy the 20 to 30 minutes of it that I saw.
I watched the pilot of "Back to You" because I like the leads in it but I forgot it was on last night so I didn't see it.
I havne't seen any of the other shows that have been mentioned.

I watched Chuck- Loved it! Chuck's best friend Morgan is hilarious! I also watched Bionic Woman and Life last night and I thought they were both ok- not as great as I hoped they would be- but maybe they will get better. I wanted to watch Private Practice- but I have a new rule that I will only watch one show at a time...(we will see how long that will last)

Just out of curiosity (and the fact that my 8 year-old was interested) I watched 10 minutes of 'Kid Nation'. It was just too idiotic for prime time...sorry, but maybe it would do well on Saturday morning...but not prime time. Just one more stupid reality show...maybe we should have one where the kids sign up their parents for interrogation at Gitmo...

I do kinda want to watch Journeyman, but it might end up being an after season DVD rental.
I still can't believe it's over four months until Lost comes back. :(

I know! It's like I can't get into the new season of tv because there is no Lost. But I am looking forward to Smallville tonight.

So far, I've caught Chuck, Bionic Woman, and Life.
Chuck was okay, but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I'm going to give it another go next week, though. You can't base your judgement on an entire show just on the pilot.
Life was fairly promising. Probably not something I'd tune into every week, though.
Bionic Woman was definitely more my cup of tea! I enjoyed it immensely, and could find no major criticisms (rare for me). The only thing that bothered me was that a couple of the flying-over-the-rooftops shots were a little too similar to Spiderman, but that's just me nitpicking.

Life does look interesting. Of course, so did "Burn Notice," which the ads for Life remind me a lot of, and that was just plain awful. :P

Watched Cane- didn't hate it but don't think I am going to get invested. I really like Chuck, not impressed with the Reaper. Still have Private Pracice and 100 other things on TiVo. Was not impressed with Journeyman. It made my head hurt.

I hope Journeyman gets a break and a chance for people to find it. I found it fascinating. the people who want to know why he's jumping are the same people who won't watch LOST because they find it too complicated. It felt very Life on Mars to me -- another show I love and can't wait until BBCAmerica shows season 2. Now, what David Kelley does to the US version will be interesting if it comes out mid-season like promised.

even though its not my cup of tea, i watched Gossip Girl (mostly because it comes on right after Top Model). I hate to say that i really love it. it reminds me of this movie i saw years ago with Dominique Swain trying uncomfortably to fit in the the UES kids at her school. its great to see rich people sabatoge themselves.
also, Kitchen Nightmares is great. i cant bring myself to watch anything else on tv. everything is just too overhyped, and the underrated shows will end up being cancelled. it happens every year :(
Posted by: sarah | September 27, 2007 11:11 AM
Oh, I love Kitchen Nightmares! You know if Gordon ever did a show where he goes to someones house and rates their kitchens, these woman would just start WEEPING LIKE LITTLE GIRLS!! Now that would be funny!

Ok, first of all, shows have to be very careful of Monday night. If you don't have a strong following or cover a certain genre, you're shooting yourself in the foot before you even start. It's too hard to go up against Monday Night Football as a new show. Unfortunately, they have probably signed they death warrant for Journeyman (hence the fall from grace in the ratings).
Big Bang Theory was cute. Coming from the creator of Two & Half Men, I felt there could be some decent promise (especially since I already TiVo T&HM, since I'm watching football :). It wasn't a tremendously funny show, but it had some really funny lines. They might just need to develop the chemistry a little more.
Bionic Woman was good...not great. I didn't mind the roof jumping as much as the shots fo her running through the forest & the fight scene at the end was shot way to close in & over-the-top shaky-cam. Will tune in again though to see how some of this progresses.
I won't go near Kitchen Nightmares. Hell's Kitchen was fine because it wasn't here & any errors were stopped before they made it to the customers. I don't need to see real places that have existed in filth, health hazards, & improper cooking. PS -- I also avoid these topics on the news.
Next week I'm looking forward to Pushing Daisies.

I've been watching a lot of shows just to get a feel for which ones might stick around. I didn't really "love" any of the new ones, but the one I liked the most was a big surprise...especially since it was on the CW. "Reaper". Anyone else see this? it was a fun action/comedy about a guy who's parents sold his sole to the devil, and now he is the devil's bounty hunter, sending escaped soles back to hell. A bit off the wall premise, but they played it just right, and the writing wasn't bad either..I actually laughed out loud a few times.
Liked Bionic Woman and Jouneyman, but they seem to be re-hashing of shows we've already seen. BW is more like Heroes than it is like it's original, just not as interesting. And Journeyman is like Quantum Leap (which I loved), but it seemed a bit light in the writing. I had a hard time going along for the ride in spots.
Being an old reality show fan (not so much anymore) I thought Kid Nation's premise was interesting...but now seeing it...not so much. It's just as devisive as every other reality show.
All in all though, it's been a fun week of TV. love my old Favs such as Heroes, The Office, Grey's Anatomy...but sure miss our LOST!!
Most looking forward to Brothers and Sisters this weekend. My fav show besides LOST right now.

sorry, i'm at work and was typing fast... they didn't sell his sole, as in his shoes...but his SOUL. I'm a doofus.
OH and since I'm writing again. Pushing Daisies is the one new show I've most been looking forward to!

OMG!!!!! Just watching 'Chuck' and he said "Oceanic flight 815 was shot down by...." and the rest was garbled...WTF?!?!!?
LOL
Gotta love new shows....

I couldn't wait to get on line this morning and see who saw Chuck last night! I was laughing my ass off and trying to call my LOST buddy to see if she'd seen it! Alas, she's a Prison Break person. SO Funny! Are the writers of the two shows friends?
Posted by: Janelle | October 2, 2007 05:57 AM
Janelle,
The joke is way funnier if someone else gets it too! My hubby just went "Oh?...What's that supposed to mean?"
AAARRGH!!!!!!
I'm still laughing about it today. Where is Daniel when you need his television writer knowledge?
Posted by: Diana | October 2, 2007 10:36 AM
Daniel, come on, you're slacking (or dealing with Brit's baby drama)
Posted by: Janelle | October 2, 2007 12:05 PM
Yeah I watched Chuck too and caught the Oceanic 815 flight comment. Too cool! Daniel, we miss you.

I read that 30 Rock had....or is going to have....a reference to LOST in an episode.
Posted by: Liz | October 4, 2007 07:50 AM
What does that mean, that LOST is a pop culture icon, or that LOST is just a SNL joke now? And Where in the World is Daniel!
Posted by: Janelle | October 4, 2007 09:41 AM
I vote pop culture icon. I think people are fascinated by and with LOST – I know I am. But being an SNL joke wouldn’t be terrible either.
Yeah, where is Daniel?????
