**gasp** I spoke too soon! 8 out of 16...I hope they resolve this to finish the last 8!

NOOOOOOO!!!! not lost. yeah I really hope this gets resolved soon. I don't know what I'll do without Lost. (thats kind of sad, I know)

The last WGA strike was in 1988 and lasted 23 WEEKS!

Daniel -- since technically, you are now writing for a TV show, has the WGA contact your staff about the strike?

Though all these articles state that LOST has 8 out of 16 episodes shot, they fail to mention that they have about 14 scripts already written waiting to be shot. So Lost may have the best advantage of them all, as they can continue to shoot (as long as actors and producers continue to show up) and stockpile episodes to last a few months more and hopefully endure the Strike. Since this interviewer was actually sitting with the Lost producers at the time. I would think this information would be accurate. Who knows. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that this comes to a speedy end!

TOTAL TANGENT-- May I just mention, how WOOT is Jimmy Kimmel!?

a) Thank god that The Tudors has already filmed its 12 episodes. I just finished watching the first season, and it's shockingly like crack.

b) What I want to know is how the overall feel of Lost might be affected since Damon and Carlton are both members of the WGA. How will that work? Will they show up to work at all and just pinky swear not to do any writing, or are they self-banned from the set/L.A. office? Maybe it's just the podcasts, but I get the impression that these two are responsible for about 80% of the emotional and mythological texture of Lost.

I am nervous. George, I really hope your guess is right - that they're closer to the end of the 16 episodes than the L.A. Times grid states.

c) Did anyone hear about how Jon Stewart is paying The Daily Show and The Colbert Report writers TO STRIKE for up to 2 weeks? I read comments on a business blog that turned into a veritable firestorm about this piece of news.

Oh, also, I'm getting an overtly negative vibe toward the strike (and the strikers) from the L.A. Times and most of the E! articles.

It's quite different in here, with the New York-based traditional media, at least so far. Anyone else noticing this?

Regarding Ali's question. I heard this morning on the radio that the people with dual roles on shows (ie: producer/writer) like Damon and Carlton, or even most of the cast of The Office, are still required under SAG contracts that they must report to work.

I hope my quess it right as well. I think the industry knew that this was coming so they did somewhat plan ahead, so maybe Lost is in OK shape, as long as the strike doesn't go on too long.

Isn't it stupid to think that the entertainment industry would rather lose millions of dollars with the halting of productions, rather than negotiate this out? Last time this happened the industry lost 500 Million! yikes! I'm stock piling my DVR now with shows that I can watch when they run out...even if i'm not interested in the shows anymore (ie: Desparate Housewives, Bionic Woman, Private Practice) at least it's SOMETHING to watch.

I did not hear that LOST may be delayed in returning.

I did read that beginning Mon (11/12/07) abc.com will post LOST "mobisodes" - new material which fits into the saga but viewers have to figure out where it fits. EW.com describes them as 2 to 3 minute vignettes.

Thanks for the link Janelle. I too heard on Kevin and Bean this morning that the season may be put off for months, even a year. And I don't get why anyone would want to come on here pretending to be someone else or attacking someone else. I miss Daniel though! And Lost!

Jen, I gotta agree about the attacks and weird postings. I kinda hope that once the season starts, whenever it starts, the people who post comments on Daniel's TMZ Diary won't come over here and mess up the community we have going.

And, for those of us in a different Zip Code, who are Kevin and Bean? (I am such a nerd, I listen to WGN Radio in Chicago in the mornings).

I did a Google news search for Lost and didn't come up with anything new about the schedule. Did see that Dom and Evangeline broke up, which has to make Daniel happy.

Second, sorry Janelle! lol Kevin & Bean are morning radio DJs for KROQ in LA......In my humble opinion, they're the BEST!!! They're just kooky dorky DJs with others that are on the show & it's just a crack up to listen to every morning......Their "hollywood reporter" mentioned the possibility that LOST may not come back til either the fall or feb. 2009!

Ok, so here is the latest scoop, for those of you still reading this (true die hards). Lost is planning on airing their first 8 finished episodes in Feb as planned, but after that, we will have to wait until things go into production again to get the last eight. They say instead of season 5 being another 16 episodes, it may be 24. The producers are not happy about this of course. They promised fans 16 episodes without interruption, that's why we were having to wait so long for season 4, and now here we go with more interruptions and waiting. Ugh! see the link to this story at the bottom of this post.

I did hear it on Kevin and Bean this morning! LOL, maybe they spoke out of context. And for those not in the Los Angeles area, Kevin and Bean are just another silly morning radio show here on KROQ. They are constantly reporting entertainment news. They also used to be big Lost fans doing weekly recaps on the show, but they fell out of love like the majority of people during the re-run fiasco.

George, there are still a select and loyal (and fabulous) handful of us reading Daniel's Diary weekly, after watching Season 1 on DVD, then commencting on his comments, and checking in with his LDQ&A and other irregularly ongoing features. So yeah, if you have a Lost thing you want to check in on, this is the place to do it. The regulars are usually here on Thursday and Friday, maybe Monday -- kinda depends on Daniel's schedule.
