One more thing ...

Let's not post anything about tonight's show until the Diary goes up tomorrow.

Thanks.

LDQA -- Twas the Afternoon Before "Lost" Edition

So people keep asking me, "Is the Lost Diary going to be on TMZ again?" And the answer is ... I don't know. My boss hasn't decided if he wants to post it yet, but hey -- that's what this site is for! So either way, check back here tomorrow around noon ET. Good times.

Let's roll:

Q: Hey Daniel. I was wondering who "he" was (the "he" that Kate mentions in last season's awesome flashforward) and I was wondering if it was possibly Kate and Sawyer's baby. I think that would be pretty cool. I just don't think that it'll be Sawyer though, that's just too obvious. If it isn't baby Skate then the guy will be someone we haven't met yet- or maybe she's looking after someone, like Locke? Just thought of that now. Well, just wondering your opinions. -- Jonty, from the U.K.

A: What a great name, Skate. Anyway, Sawyer seems too obvious, yes. So I like "person we haven't met yet." For the record, I also like Michael for "guy who died that left Jack a sniveling mess."

Q: I can't wait for Lost to start again. I just started a new relationship with a girl who hasn't watched the show before…I know, I know.  Anyway, I am stoked to force her to sit silent while I watch the show this season, I will make sure she directs all her questions to you.

Anyway, I enjoyed the few shows you talked about in your top ten.  With the absence of Lost and other shows due to the writers strike, I started watching shows I had never seen online.  I really like 30 Rock, I can't believe I never watched it.  Anyways, I am starting to ramble.  What I really wanted to ask you is if you had ever watched a show on NBC called Life.  It's about a cop who just got released after 12 years of wrongful incarceration.  I really liked it and was just wondering what you thought.  Keep up the good work, I can't wait for Thursday!  But Wednesday will be a nice tide-me-over. -- Brian

A: First of all, that girl better be amazing -- not watching "Lost" is kind of a dealbreaker. And how long have you been together? You should have caught her up on seasons 1-3 by now. It's called Netflix.

Didn't bother with "Life," mostly because I didn't think it had a chance of lasting more than 4 episodes. The writer's strike might have saved it. But Kevin McKidd (from "Rome") is pretty damn awesome, so I'm glad it's done reasonably well.

Q: Daniel, I love your postings!  Are you still going to do your review of Lost this season on TMZ.com or will it be at Lost Diary?  Want to make sure I don't miss a minute of your reviews!

A: Here for sure, maybe TMZ. I know I already answered this, but I like posting any question that compliments me in the process. Take it where I can get it.

Q: Daniel, Glad you're back online - hope the unpacking goes better than the moving. Are you going to do a column on the finale with pop-ups?  Commentary on the points they decide to make with the pop-ups.

A: I already said how stupid I thought last night's enhanced ep was, so that covers that. But seriously, is there anything worse than moving? I've got about 2 inches of floor not covered by laundry (who has time?) or boxes. I really wish I could throw a bunch of shit into a pit and burn it.

Q: Would you like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies?! -- Janice

A: I am so full right now from McDonalds, Taco Bell and pizza (don't ask) I can't even think about cookies right now. Ok, maybe some thin mints. Put 'em in the freezer for awhile ... mmmmmm.

Q: So I was watching the season premire commercials and in one it looked like Hurley saw Jacob.  Did you see this commercial?  I am so excited to learn more about Jacob!!!!! -- Aliah

A: Here's a tip -- never watch an ABC commercial for "Lost." ABC's promo department is the worst. WORST!!!!

Q: What are your grim reaper predictions for this season?  Face it, this show is running out of main characters to kill off, so who will die this season? Is this the most unpredictable season so far?  I mean, we know nothing about the boat and who's on it, right? Thanks and looking forward to reading your diary tomorrow! -- sue

A: Sawyer is going to die -- mark my words. Then again, I have been saying it for like a year now, so ... take that for what it's worth.

Q: The Boston Herald has an article that starts off:
"So you thought Ben was evil on "Lost"? Brace yourself: Michael Emerson, who plays the nefarious leader of the Others, said his character will no longer be the biggest villain on the series, which returns for a fourth season Thursday at 9 p.m. on WCVB (Ch. 5)." How do you feel about that?

A: This is why I don't read anything about "Lost." I really didn't want to know that. All I want to know is what time the show is on -- that's it. That said, I've said it from the beginning -- Ben is not the bad guy. This season will prove me right on that.

What Was That?

Is it me or did last night's enahanced version of "Lost" suck? I turned it off after 20 minutes because I didn't really need to know that "Ben is angry" or "Shephard must lead his flock." Who wrote that crap?

Question, did it get any better?

Top Ten Shows on Television -- #5

5. Pushing Daisies

"Pushing Daisies" is not the best show on TV (duh, it's 5th!). But I will say this: it might be the best example of television.

What I mean to say is this: a lot of people like to bash television as a whole. I call them "idiots." These are the people that brag, "I don't even own a television." How do they know where all their furniture should point? I loathe these people. My saying is, "I look down on people who look down on television."

Anyway, if you had to show someone who hated TV one show, why not this one? Unless you just don't "get it" ("too sugary" was a complaint I got from some friends) this show is almost flawless. It looks amazing, the writing is top notch (I get choked up every single week) and it has a very fantastical feel to it that is just unmatched by anything else.

In a pilot season completely devoid of anything good -- "Chuck," "DSM" and "Gossip Girl" are the only other shows worth watching -- "PD" has immediately entrenched itself as one of my favorite shows on TV.

Top Ten Shows on Television -- #6

6. Friday Night Lights

From our good friends at Wikipedia:

A sophomore slump or sophomore jinx (U.S. English) refers to an instance in which a sophomore effort fails to live up to the standards of the first effort. It is commonly used to refer to the performance of students (sophomore year), athletes (second season of play), bands (sophomore album), and television shows (second seasons).

Whenever a critical darling gets picked up for a second season, true fans of the show are left to wonder -- will the network meddle with the show so much they ruin what it made it great in the first place?

The best example of this was the NBC show "Boomtown." It was a "L&O" type of show -- but it was so smart and so well done it was, of course, a ratings failure. But critics loved it, so the network picked it up for season 2. But everything that made the show great in season 1 was stripped away and in season 2 it became just another procedural. Show ruined.

Season 2 of "FNL" has been mostly devoid of what looks like network interference -- less football being the only noticeable difference. But the show has still struggled a bit this year, mostly due to the "Landry killed a guy" storyline. But that is over, thankfully, and the show is back to being what made it great -- just a phenomenal cast of characters, and some of the most honest and true storylines on television.

Ok, all that stuff was true -- but seriously, is there a hotter cast on TV? I couldn't possible pick the hottest woman in the cast -- maybe Minka Kelly, but you could throw a dart at a board and I wouldn't be upset with any of them. This show is the reason why HD was invented.

So "Lost" Is on This Week

Read that headline again.

Anyway, sorry I fell off the map (again). I just finished moving (a fate worse than death), had my car broken into and had my Internet service installation delayed a few times. It's been a crazy few weeks.  Anyway, here's what I am thinking:

-- Obviously I have 6 more shows in my top 10 to write about. Got to knock those out.

-- If you don't know yet, ABC is re-airing the season 3 finale tomorrow night with little factoids popping up on the screen throughout. Should be good.

-- On Thursday night, "Lost" is on. Warrants mentioning again.

Also, if you want to fit in a quick, pre-season 4 LDQA, click here to send me a question. Make sure LDQA is in the subject -- I get so much spam at that email address, it's insane.

Top Ten Shows on Television -- #7

7. 30 Rock

I told myself before I did this list that I wasn't putting any comedies on it. Since "Arrested Development" went off the air, I just feel comedies have fallen off creatively -- remember when "Entourage" and "Curb" were consistently funny? Those were the days.

Then came "30 Rock." Look, I know "The Office" is the show people are supposed to say is the funniest -- but it's not true. In fact, it's not even close. Not since "Arrested Development" has a show been so funny and so completely out of left field. I present to you the following two lines from this season:

"Never go with a hippie to a second location." -- Jack
"You know I never judge race! Remember when I asked that black man if he saw Sideways?" -- Liz

'Nuff said.
