LDQA -- Twas the Afternoon Before "Lost" Edition

So people keep asking me, "Is the Lost Diary going to be on TMZ again?" And the answer is ... I don't know. My boss hasn't decided if he wants to post it yet, but hey -- that's what this site is for! So either way, check back here tomorrow around noon ET. Good times.

Let's roll:

Q: Hey Daniel. I was wondering who "he" was (the "he" that Kate mentions in last season's awesome flashforward) and I was wondering if it was possibly Kate and Sawyer's baby. I think that would be pretty cool. I just don't think that it'll be Sawyer though, that's just too obvious. If it isn't baby Skate then the guy will be someone we haven't met yet- or maybe she's looking after someone, like Locke? Just thought of that now. Well, just wondering your opinions. -- Jonty, from the U.K.

A: What a great name, Skate. Anyway, Sawyer seems too obvious, yes. So I like "person we haven't met yet." For the record, I also like Michael for "guy who died that left Jack a sniveling mess."

Q: I can't wait for Lost to start again. I just started a new relationship with a girl who hasn't watched the show before…I know, I know.  Anyway, I am stoked to force her to sit silent while I watch the show this season, I will make sure she directs all her questions to you.

Anyway, I enjoyed the few shows you talked about in your top ten.  With the absence of Lost and other shows due to the writers strike, I started watching shows I had never seen online.  I really like 30 Rock, I can't believe I never watched it.  Anyways, I am starting to ramble.  What I really wanted to ask you is if you had ever watched a show on NBC called Life.  It's about a cop who just got released after 12 years of wrongful incarceration.  I really liked it and was just wondering what you thought.  Keep up the good work, I can't wait for Thursday!  But Wednesday will be a nice tide-me-over. -- Brian

A: First of all, that girl better be amazing -- not watching "Lost" is kind of a dealbreaker. And how long have you been together? You should have caught her up on seasons 1-3 by now. It's called Netflix.

Didn't bother with "Life," mostly because I didn't think it had a chance of lasting more than 4 episodes. The writer's strike might have saved it. But Kevin McKidd (from "Rome") is pretty damn awesome, so I'm glad it's done reasonably well.

Q: Daniel, I love your postings!  Are you still going to do your review of Lost this season on TMZ.com or will it be at Lost Diary?  Want to make sure I don't miss a minute of your reviews!

A: Here for sure, maybe TMZ. I know I already answered this, but I like posting any question that compliments me in the process. Take it where I can get it.

Q: Daniel, Glad you're back online - hope the unpacking goes better than the moving. Are you going to do a column on the finale with pop-ups?  Commentary on the points they decide to make with the pop-ups.

A: I already said how stupid I thought last night's enhanced ep was, so that covers that. But seriously, is there anything worse than moving? I've got about 2 inches of floor not covered by laundry (who has time?) or boxes. I really wish I could throw a bunch of shit into a pit and burn it.

Q: Would you like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies?! -- Janice

A: I am so full right now from McDonalds, Taco Bell and pizza (don't ask) I can't even think about cookies right now. Ok, maybe some thin mints. Put 'em in the freezer for awhile ... mmmmmm.

Q: So I was watching the season premire commercials and in one it looked like Hurley saw Jacob.  Did you see this commercial?  I am so excited to learn more about Jacob!!!!! -- Aliah

A: Here's a tip -- never watch an ABC commercial for "Lost." ABC's promo department is the worst. WORST!!!!

Q: What are your grim reaper predictions for this season?  Face it, this show is running out of main characters to kill off, so who will die this season? Is this the most unpredictable season so far?  I mean, we know nothing about the boat and who's on it, right? Thanks and looking forward to reading your diary tomorrow! -- sue

A: Sawyer is going to die -- mark my words. Then again, I have been saying it for like a year now, so ... take that for what it's worth.

Q: The Boston Herald has an article that starts off:
"So you thought Ben was evil on "Lost"? Brace yourself: Michael Emerson, who plays the nefarious leader of the Others, said his character will no longer be the biggest villain on the series, which returns for a fourth season Thursday at 9 p.m. on WCVB (Ch. 5)." How do you feel about that?

A: This is why I don't read anything about "Lost." I really didn't want to know that. All I want to know is what time the show is on -- that's it. That said, I've said it from the beginning -- Ben is not the bad guy. This season will prove me right on that.

Sorry to break your bubble Daniel, but "Skate" came from the pop ups on the season finale last night. That guy didn't come up with it. It also called Jack and Kate lovers, "Jaters". The whole thing was distracting. I agree that is Michael too. Can't wait for tonight!

Hey Daniel, glad ldq&a is back!

re: the question on the show Life...Damien Lewis, from band of Brothers, is the main character, not Kevin McKidd from Rome. McKidd was on that new show Journeyman, which was canceled after a handful of episodes. Both big manly redheads though, so easy to get them confused.

Also, scuttlebut is that tonight is a Hurley-centric ep? Lets hope!

kaitlyn

Augh! I tried to watch, but the pop-ups were so lame I had to turn it off. Maybe good for newbies, but it ruined the whole thing for me.

Can't wait until tonight!!!!!!!!!!!

Thin Mints - Got it!!

"Thank you for supporting Girl Scouting...blah blah blah..."

I also found the pop-ups a little annoying but since its Tivo'd I was able to go back easily if necessary.

The easter eggs were nothing new.

Daniel, you're right about the commercials on ABC, they're lame!

I've never been more excited for a night of TV. I think it has a lot to do with the lack of anything to watch recently, but mostly because of the long 8 month wait for my favorite show to come back...and all the buzz about this season is so tremendous. Just sad that we'll only get 8 weeks instead of 16, but we'll take what we can get right?

Enjoy it everyone, see you back here tomorrow morning!

Did anyone sit thru the pilot of Eli Stone to see that Oceanic Flight commercial??? And they showed a website for Oceanic Air....but all that's on it is some lame ass press release! http://www.flyoceanicair.com/

Daniel, I've been a faithful reader and I usually agree with all of your predictions. However, your prediction that it was Michael's death that prompted Jack's melt down is wrong in my opinion. If you rewatch the scene where Jack goes to the funeral home, the camera does a shot from above the casket or from behind it (I can't remember which) and you can tell that the casket is much too small for a full grown man. My prediction....it's Walt who died, not Michael.

I have a question about Jack's flash forward (when he had the beard). In the hospital scene where he's confronted by the surgeon, Jack says something to the effect of "Why don't you get my dad down here and see if he's any drunker than I am". He also tries to fill a prescription from his dad. If this is a flash forward, how can Jack's dad be alive? Or is Jack losing it?

I just watched the Oceanic commercial and am so confused....who is the guy speaking?

OK, was I just imagining this?? When Hurley was in the mental institute and the guy "from Oceanic" came to see him, when the guy was going through the door to leave did he turn to black smoke or was that just a shadow on the door??

Now that Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) has a DUI, do you think he will suffer the same fate as our other Lost alkies? (i.e. Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros)

I saw a pictue of a book laying next to the casket that looks like it could be Ben's journal. Any thoughts on that scene?

I didn't see the enhanced version... I live in the UK.

hi, Im a long time lost diary fan. I look forward to it almost as much as lost. I love your reviews. They are funny and right om target. Please keep up the good work.
