What Was That?

Is it me or did last night's enahanced version of "Lost" suck? I turned it off after 20 minutes because I didn't really need to know that "Ben is angry" or "Shephard must lead his flock." Who wrote that crap?

Question, did it get any better?

I wouldn't know. I turned it off after the first commercial. The terrible comments that kept popping up on the screen didn't say anything but of course I had to read them all and it kept me from enjoying the show. I guess if you haven't seen the show, it was a way to catch you up so you can start the new season, but the suspense of not knowing some of the things that they so cavalierly spoke about last night was one of the reasons I watched the show. Overall it was just bad. Tonight better rock!

The stuff at the bottom was to distracting. It did point out a few "Lost Easter Eggs", that I didn't catch when the episode originally aired. I watched the whole thing, since it's been 8 months and I just wanted a refresher for tonight. SO Excited!!!! Daniel, PLEASE tell me you'll be doing the recap on TMZ. A lot of us that met there, kept in touch and are anxiously awaiting the return of your posts! It's also another reason to just chat about Lost all day Friday :)

I found it very annoying and it took awhile before I could ignore them. I was watching with someone who hadn't seen the episode so I was committed to seeing it through. Now that that is over with, looking forward to tonights episode.

Hey, I liked it. I thought it made it entertaining enough, kinda like chatting with friends or reading a blog while watching.
It's bad enough to have recap after recap episode.

I found that I could either watch the show, or read the comments. The comments were really boring so I stopped reading them. I tuned in for the good parts (Hero Hurley, Jack pummeling Ben, Charlie drowning) but then flipped over to watch The Gauntlet on MTV. (I know, I know ... )

I personally enjoyed the comments. I wanted the refresher & the comments referenced some points that I had forgotten. They referred to the title "Through the Looking Glass" a few times and explained the reasoning for the title. They also pointed out the inspiration for many scenes.

Geez, Daniel, what did you expect???

I thought it was funny and I did enjoy them pointing out things like the funeral palour's name was an analogy for "flash forward" etc.

It was a little distracting, but I saw already so ...

I think they sucked, I mean who wrote those?! I knew it was downhill when they said 'and the title comes.... now" so lame! There were one or two easter eggs I hadn't noticed before but I dont think 2 hours of that lame crap was worth it, and today I can't even remember the easter eggs. Plus we have to get a recap before the big show tonight so I dont see the point of doing that.

Daniel, I must admit that I watched the whole thing. My living room TV died a couple of days ago (black screen, thin white line of death). Anyway, I had been begging my significant other to take the TV in the guest room down from the too high for me to reach perch that it was sitting on. Well, he finally moved the guest room TV into the living room for me (in anticipation of the Lost season premiere, and the a**kicking he'd get if he hadn't moved the TV). However, there wasn't enough time after he moved the TV, to hook up the satellite box, (due to the cable being screwed so tight onto the box, he couldn't get it disconnected from the old TV)--and if he'd have stayed there and tried, he would have been late for work. Needless to say, when I came home, my euphoria about the guest TV move quickly was replaced by anger over the unconnected box. I had to pull out all my best yoga moves, plus one of those pieces of rubber you use to get lids off of jars, in order to get everything connected. Anyway, I was a woman on a mission.
So after going through all that, I had to watch. Although, I will admit that pop up text crap was annyoing, and I really didn't learn much more than I already knew.
I am all tingly about tonight though. Planning to stop for snacks and beer on the way home after work. Not taking any phone calls, nor texts, nor e-mails. Have warned everyone not to bother me until Friday.

I thought the comments SUCKED BIG TIME. I hated it but I was determined to sit through it because I've been spoiling myself by watching the seasons on DVD...I needed to get used to commercials again.

Honestly, I don't know how last nights comments would have helped anyone...ugh!

It was like a bad version of pop up video. Maybe if you had never seen Lost before you could appreciate it, but frankly I found it too annoying and turned it off after about 30 minutes, then I watched the episode on DVD.

Also, I realized that I'll never be able to watch Charlie drown without thinking of you Daniel, and getting a little misty eyed. You were so happy when he died.

I thought the commentary was fun, but I had already seen the episode, I read it out loud to my husband who is not a multi-tasker to begin with and is fighting a cold. He couldn't deal with the reading and watching and eventually fell asleep, as did I. I tried watching the "enhanced" version at abc.com, but they didn't show the pop-ups...disappointing. Am so looking forward to tonight! Hold my calls!

I fell asleep, was the whole 2 hours like the first hour? I did not mind the comments it was a good refresher for me, however, I still fell asleep. I still love LOST no matter what.

I also enjoyed the Sawyer-centric commercial for the new season. I just love that he makes up nicknames for everyone...my friends and I have been doing that since we were kids!

And Daniel, thanks for getting this up and running again. It's my latest guilty pleasure.

I thought the comments were funny. I think they were just trying to catch up people who maybe hadn't been watching faithfully to get them back to watch the new season. They were pointless for those of us who religiously watch the show. Except for the few 'easter eggs' there really wasn't any new information. I liked the sarcasm over the completely obvious scenes. "Ben is very angry"

Well said Jenny. I had to go to bed as I have doctor appts every morning this week but I'll watch the rest tonight and I too think it was to catch up the non-obsessed fans (none of us) so they are prepared for tonight. Be honest- there isn't much we haven't covered so how could any of us be surprised! See ya'll tomorrow.

This is why it sucked(From yesterday's NYTimes): "The show’s producers, who zealously guard their central secrets, had no role in enhancing Wednesday’s episode because they were compelled to leave their posts when the Writers Guild of America went on strike in November. The network commissioned Met/Hodder, a marketing and production company, to enhance the Wednesday installment of “Lost.” That company has also handled all the previous “Lost” clip shows."

They should have hired Daniel...reading his commentary would be well worth the effort!

What it everyone talking about? I thought the premiere was tonight?!?!?! Oh, I can't beleive I missed the Lost premiere!

Susan, honey, get a clue. All they showed last night was last yera's season finale. Tonight the new season begins. Please, pay attention.

I was eh about it. Something of the lines were good, but a lot of them seemed as though Captain Obvious wrote them. Good to know we can blame a marketing company for that and not "our" writers.
I was so glad they ran the finale last night. It served as a dry run for me and I was able to remind the husband and the dog about the house rules while Lost is on. I would have been very upset if last night's antics occurred during a new episode.

that should have been "some of the lines". Sorry for the typo.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud when the opening notes of "Bad to the Bone" rang out over images of Sawyer. Daniel, if you didn't get a change to catch that montage, I would urge you to do so just so you can get a good chuckle over how dramatic it was. Is there any stronger way to DISPROVE that a character is tough, than to run images of him while George Thorogood stutters "b-b-b-b-bad" in the background? I love Sawyer, but I think that commercial did him wrong.

I was totally glued! I thought it awesome, especially Hurley! Sooooo, what did we learn? 1) Jack & Kate leave the island (maybe two others: the one in the coffin & the one waiting for Kate at home); 2) Who's in the coffin? Jack was distraught; Kate made the comment that why would she go to the funeral (so someone she had conflict with); 3) The freighter is not too friendly; 4) Locke can walk yet again; 5) Jack is addicted to Oxycotin (sp?) & difficulty coping in real life (why? were there others left on the island? dead on the island?); 6) Charlie dies (or does he? we thought he died last season); 7) Sawyer will be the new sheriff in town; 8) Kate might be pregnant; 9) The little boy, my mind went blank w/his name, is still alive.

So what happened to tmz? Are we no longer going there?

ummmm....interesting, the douche-bag that likes to post comments under other people's ID's hasn't let up. This tactic is how old??? I knew there was a reason why I stopped coming here....

My favorite part of the night was immitating Charlie drowning. Imagine this - hold your nose, raise your right hand and slowly wiggle your fingers in a goodbye wave. say "blip blip blip" - who am I? Charlie drowning!

Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one who found it obnoxious and "no shit." I made it around 30 minutes or so, and was flipping to that truth show the entire time.

My local ABC affiliate managed to make the pop-ups even more annoying by having a "snow advisory" map in the lower left corner of the screen, successfully covering at least half of the text for a good portion of the show!

I have been in Network Marketing for about 15 years. I have NEVER seen such a total opportunity where almost everyone who takes a look wants to join. People just see the magic in this program
