Cabin Fever
**ARGH!!!! Site has been down all morning. I posted this as soon as I could. Damn you, Internet!
I've had a really hard time writing this part of the Diary and I think that goes back to the fact that I have had a hard time putting my finger on this season. Flashforwards are unpredictable, the Losties are spread out in many different places, the Freighter is looming and Jacob is hanging over my head worse than final exams. I don't think I have had less of a clue of what is going to happen from week to week than I do now.
10:02 -- My clock says 10:02, but I think "Grey's Anatomy" is still on. I don't think I can handle Locke with McNickname.
10:03 -- "His name is John!" -- Locke's mom
10:04 -- Three minutes into the show and we have our first Locke/Ben scene. As far as I am concerned, that's a good sign for a good episode.
10:05 -- We're back on the freighter and frankly it's about time. Whatever happened with Michael?
10:06 -- As to be expected, Michael is chained to a pipe in a room. Seems like he got off easy ... til now.
10:07 -- Keamy pulled the trigger, there were bullets in the gun, but the gun didn't fire. Just saying.
10:12 -- Locke encounters Horace in the woods, building a cabin. You might remember Horace as the guy who was there when Ben was born, helped Ben's dad get a job with Dharma, and there was one other thing. What was it? Oh yeah -- he died in the Purge!!!
10:13 -- And he's completely aware of the fact he's dead. And we now know the Purge was 12 years ago.
10:14 -- "Godspeed, John." -- Horace. And it was all a dream. Yeah, right.
10:15 -- "I used to have dreams." -- Ben
10:16 -- A fairly innocuous scene about how even when Locke was in an incubator people treated him like crap has just been kicked up a gazillion notches because RICHARD WAS THERE!!! So many questions ...
10:17 -- "He did it." Locke explaining the Purge to Hurley. There's something about a mass grave that rubs me the wrong way. I just can't put my finger on it.
10:21 -- "Mind if I show you a couple of neat things?" -- Richard to Locke. I am pretty sure that's a line preferred by some of the finest pedophiles in all the land.
10:24 -- I stand by belief that any scene of "Lost" over two minutes is just phenomenal. This one was no exception. I wonder what those items mean in the grand scheme of things? The vial of sand could relate to the sand around Jacob's cabin. Not sure if I get the compass yet. Oh, I'll have a theory about Alpert/Dharma later on.
10:25 -- Though I am willing to bet Locke will find the compass on Horace's body.
10:26 -- Nope, he just found cabin blueprints instead. Not sure how that helps.
10:27 -- So Keamy's a d**k, right? Anyway, he's picked up the secondary objective and he says that in it, Widmore explains where Ben is headed. Does Widmore know where the cabin is? How could he?
10:28 -- The captain, who seems on the level, now wants to help Sayid and Desmond. Next time Keamy leaves for the island, he should just sail off. That's what I'd do.
10:33 -- Every time Locke and Ben talk lately, I can't decide if Ben likes Locke or hates him. On the one hand, it's like Locke is now Jacob's new favorite and he's jealous. On the other, he sees Locke as being the person who can save him and island.
10:34 -- It's high school now and life still sucks for John Locke. Dr. Alpert has eye on Locke, but his guidance counselor keeps telling him what he can't be. What are the odds this scene ends with John saying, "Don't tell me what I can't do"?
10:35 -- "Don't tell me what I can't do!" -- Locke. Too easy.
10:36 -- What the hell are they strapping to Keamy? Prediction: Lawnmower Man takes one for the team and crashes that helicopter into a mountain or something.
10:37 -- With everything that has gone on, would you want to ride that little dinky boat back to the island? I'd take my chances on the freighter.
10:42 -- "Destiny is a fickle bitch." -- Ben. Someone has lost their mojo, big time.
10:43 -- "Cabin." -- Hurley
10:44 -- Giant leap forward in our flashback and Locke is in rehab. And the voice of that nurse can't get past me (thank you, "The Wire") -- it's Abaddon, the guy who visited Hurley in the mental ward and recruited all the Freighter people. Creepy.
10:45 -- "You need to go on a Walkabout." -- Abaddon to Locke
10:46 -- "When you're ready, Mr. Locke, you'll listen to what I'm saying. And then, when you and me run into each other again, you'll owe me one." -- Abaddon to Locke
10:49 -- After a tense stand-off on the boat, and the morse code message coming true, Lawnmower Man is going to fly Keamy and company back to the island. I stand by my prediction -- they never make it.
10:52 -- Back on the beach Jack has recovered nicely and everyone has gathered on the shore to watch the helicopter. I can't wait to see the look on their faces when it explodes.
10:53 -- Nope. Instead, Lawnmower Man throws them a sat phone so they can find Keamy. I like my idea better.
10:54 -- Hurley and Ben are passing on going into the cabin.
10:55 -- And do you know whose voice that is? It's Christian Shephard, but he says he ain't Jacob -- just his publicist.
10:56 -- CLAIRE!!!!!
10:57 -- "How do I save the island?" -- Locke
10:58 -- Great little scene between Hurley and Ben. Candy bars, bringing fat people and mass murders together for generations.
10:59 -- "He wants us to move the island." -- Locke. Sounds reasonable enough.
Everyone watches TV for a different reason. Me, I can't stand shows that wrap up their show in a neat little bow every week and solve the murder and everyone is happy. I like long-reaching story lines that last for awhile. I want my television to make me work a little bit.
At its best, "Lost" is that show (and then some). What I loved most about tonight's episode is that it focused entirely on the mythology of the show. Seeing Richard and Abaddon in Locke's flashbacks was awesome. Watching Locke and company search for the cabin was fantastic. This is the kind of episode I enjoy.
Thus, I am giving tonight's ep an A -- watching Ben react to Locke's journey tonight was fascinating. Seeing Richard again gave me goosebumps. I hope every episode from here on out focuses on the same kinds of things that tonight's did.
Here's my thing with Richard tonight (besides the fact he seemingly never ages). He was off the island. We have been told the submarine is the only way on and off the island, but Locke was a baby some 45 years ago and the Purge only happened 12 years ago. Didn't Dharma arrive on the island in the 70s? So shouldn't Richard not have had access to the sub yet? Is this proof there is another way off the island? Or am I missing something?
Anyway, here is my question to you this week --are you like me in that the more an episode of "Lost
delves into the mythology of the show, the better it is?

A+...........The smirk on Claire's face was priceless.

I give it a solid A. I thought it was so well done. I cannot believe Daniel did not mention the picture of the smoke monster that young John Locke drew!!
Posted by: Barbara | May 9, 2008 10:23 AM
I am like you Daniel- I love the mythology of the show- it messes with my head, but I love it! And seeing Richard!?!? The hair on my arms literally stood on end!! What a great episode.

whew, finally! thought i might pass out! i've had this comment simmering in my brain for hours now...
did anyone find it odd how much locke's mom looked like clair (that old favorite lost trick is back!), and how strangely similar their situations are? young rebellious mom gets pregnant mysteriously with unwanted kid, and the father's identity is a big question mark? curious, curious. also makes me wonder whether ben's mom was supposed to look similar too (see the pic on lostpedia of her in the blue dress with long blonde hair: http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Emily_Linus), and whether perhaps roger linus wasn't his real father, either. who's fathering all these babies who are separated from their mothers?!
good episode! in my opinion the last three have been fantastic altogether, give or take a few things.

i'm most interested in what the 6 objects represent...
comic book - we've seen a few of these so far
compass - symbol of direction?
vial of sand - represents the island?
knife - sign of war to come maybe?
book of laws - the island obviously has rules that should be followed
baseball glove - a game played by two teams.
i think the significance of locke choosing the compass, the vial & the knife represent lockes path since he's been on the island.
Posted by: buttercup | May 9, 2008 10:24 AM
Also I read this elsewhere and was reminded that Ben's mother's name was Emily, and so is John's...
Posted by: holdfaster | May 9, 2008 10:26 AM
Anyone else think Claire is dead?
Posted by: sawyerlover | May 9, 2008 10:27 AM
It was when he picked up the knife that Richard ruled him unworthy of going to the island... why? Too violent? What was the 3rd thing that he SHOULD have picked that would have granted him a trip there?
Posted by: AbacusAmy | May 9, 2008 10:28 AM
Daniel, I was getting worried about you! I'm with you on the long mythology theory--it's like eating whole grain bread which takes a while to digest. You're satisfied longer. Lost is clearly not just a show, it's an experience and last night's episode was a fine example of that. One question though--did anyone else think the tone with which Claire referred to Christian was a little creepy? It was almost a seductive thing. And where is Aaron? Is he a time traveler to and already with future Kate?
Posted by: lost fan 23 | May 9, 2008 10:28 AM
Great episode, albeit super creepy. Claire was almost too much to take! And Locke and Ben are totally having a bromance.
Posted by: Courtney | May 9, 2008 10:28 AM
Are John and Ben brothers?
Posted by: Mish | May 9, 2008 10:30 AM
huh, so Emily may be the same person, meaning she gave up John when she was a teenager and then went on the Marry Linus and had Ben and died? Was it the same actress?? AND if it was not the same actress maybe it is only because she had Ben years later? I would love that!
Posted by: Barbara | May 9, 2008 10:30 AM
Okay come on Hurley, how do you not smell a pit of rotting flesh at your feet. Other than that great episode.
Posted by: Monica | May 9, 2008 10:31 AM
Richard..SQEEEEEE...Wow, what an episode. Might just be my favorite for this season. I can tell how good an episode is by how hard it is to stay seated. So the island wanted Locke from birth. Must have settled on Ben to fill in until Locke was ready to go. Might have happened in the test as a kid with Richard if he had selected the Book of Laws instead of the knife. Is Christian dead..hell if I know. Is Claire dead..hell if I know. Is Desmond going to bite it on the freighter since he remained behind..I hope not. How do you move an Island...everyone in the water and KICK ? The beach losties thinking they should follow the helicopter...this could get ugly. Lost was back with a vengence last night.

Opps I forgot it has been twelve years...
Posted by: Monica | May 9, 2008 10:32 AM
I think Claire is dead. I was sure Christian was going to be Abaddon, 'you owe me one'; I cant wait to see what John has to do for him when the time comes.
Posted by: Mish | May 9, 2008 10:32 AM
Great episode!! Question...does Ben ever blink? Just wondering.
On a personal note, I found out on Wednesday that I have Thyroid disease and with it, I've got this nasty little tumor that has to be nuked. I've nicknamed the sucker "Keamy" so I can feel great satisfaction as it gets nuked. Keamy is one sick bastard!!! Did you guys see how he towered over my beloved Sayid??? Did they do that for effect, or is he really a bad ass giant?
Posted by: Suze | May 9, 2008 10:32 AM
Hmm... it can't be a coincidence that both Locke's mom and Ben's mom are named Emily, can it?
Posted by: Leigh | May 9, 2008 10:32 AM
Claire freaked me the freak out.
Posted by: Tis I | May 9, 2008 10:33 AM
barbara, me too!
AbacusAmy, i thought i detected a look of satisfaction on Richard's face when John was considering the Book of Laws... I think he was supposed to pick that up. Maybe it would be a confirmation of his tendencies towards leadership and loyalty to the way things should be.
Posted by: holdfaster | May 9, 2008 10:33 AM
Well now, that certainly was a GREAT episode. I've been thinking (as usual), and I believe I have come upon something. Has anyone noticed the weaponry Keamy & Co. possess? They have fully automatic assault rifles, semi automatic pistols, RPGs, and other advanced items used 2 wage war. This leads me 2 believe that Rousseau & Karl were NOT done in by Keamy & Co. C'mon, they shot an RPG @ Claire's house & were unloading rounds @ Sawyer. Y in the hell would they use blow darts to take out 2 lightly armed people (was Karl even armed)? Y not just shoot Rousseau & Karl? I think the Others (Richard) killed Rousseau & Karl & turned Alex over 2 Keamy.
When Richard goes 2 c Locke as a boy, he makes Locke decide "what already belongs 2 u." Locke chooses the sand, compass, & knife. The sand must stand 4 the island, and the knife, violence. The compass I am not sure about, maybe it's a "moral compass?." I think Richard wanted Locke 2 choose the Book of Laws (self explanitory) b/c @ the time the DHARMA Initiative was on the island & possibly breaking "island laws" or "island rules," and Locke was supposed 2 come in as the new leader 2 impose law & order. Since Locke chose the knife, this meant that he would bring violence 2 the island, or assume island leadership through violence. I believe that Richard wanted 2 remove Ben from power, allowing Locke 2 assume the role of leader. Richard eliminated Rousseau & Karl 2 get Alex so Keamy would have some leverage over Ben. Ben, as a man of law & order, would b ineffective versus the war mongering Keamy & Co. Locke, on the other hand, CHOSE violence (the knife), and is better suited 2 go against Keamy. This plan has obviously worked as Ben relinquished his role as "Leader (sometimes)" b4 Locke headed in2 the cabin. Richard, in my opinion, is the true "Leader" of the Others and he was the driving force behind the gassing of the DHARMA Initiative.
How about Keamy's gun jamming? Michael is a veritable Superman @ the moment! &, who is the guy Keamy shot? he called him "Captain." I thought Keamy was the captain? It looks like we found out what happened 2 the doctor...& how did Lawnmower man find out Michael was an Oceanic 815 survivor?
When Locke says "we have 2 move the island," what does he mean? physically move it? that's downright impossible, but this is LOST...any thoughts on this?
Last point (for now) is that I believe we can now put 2 rest the theory that Locke is in the coffin. This episode has made it abundantly clear that Locke is of the utmost importance 2 the island, and that means the island (probably) won't let him die. Aaron as well, as Christian said "the baby is where he NEEDS 2 b, & that IS NOT HERE."
Posted by: Kruxoli | May 9, 2008 10:33 AM
It is so the same mother and they are definitely brothers.
Posted by: Barbara | May 9, 2008 10:34 AM
OMG, Claire's face was priceless. And she didn't seem the least bit upset for not having Aaron with her. I wondered way back in the first season when Locke built that cradle for Claire if they were somehow destined together. Seemed random but we all knew nothing on LOST is random. I think Ben is trying to figure out at what point he can REALLY get rid of Locke once and for all. He basically told Locke he wasn't the man Ben was. The scene with little Locke seemed relavant in that I felt the kid chosed the knife knowing it was the wrong item. Just the look on his face; he didnt seem disappointed enough that he didn't go with Richard. I'm guessing they person who expressed disappointment that the smoke monster didn't do more damage was pretty happy this week considering the thing gutted at least one person. Man this show will never be topped!!!! EVER!!!
Posted by: Becca | May 9, 2008 10:34 AM
I think the items that Richard asked young John to identify looked really old....like maybe they had been on the Black Rock? Any chance for a reincarnation theory?
I can't wait to see more about richard and abbadon!
Loved the cabin scene....curious about the Claire thing and why she looked so smug.

I agree with you, Daniel, that the mythology eps are best. Just like on X-Files! And I so missed our favorite eyeliner guy! So glad we all prayed for his show to get canceled because it worked. We needed him back where he belongs.
And any show focusing on John and Ben is priceless. Think Ben is jealous much? I love that this show already confirmed what I knew about my favorite boy Locke -- he was specially chosen for this.
And Sarah B., your smokin' hot old man Christian is at it again. I love it!
Man, this show is great . . .

Suze, good luck with blasting Keamy. Great attitude. And I think Sayid is just that short.
Posted by: lost fan 23 | May 9, 2008 10:37 AM
guess i am in the minority here but i did not find last night's episode so great. i thought it was good, but not an A+. it was all over the place and really provided insight into anything, especially the characters, which is what the show is truly about. sorry Daniel, but i think your love affair with John and Ben has clouded your judgment on this one.
Posted by: sarah | May 9, 2008 10:37 AM

Suze, good luck w/blasting Keamy. Great attitude on your part. And I think Sayid is just that short and Keamy is taller than the average bear.
Posted by: lost fan 23 | May 9, 2008 10:38 AM
Kruxoli- Keamy and the Captain are 2 different people. That had me confused last week (or was it the week before) b/c I think they look similar and I didn't remember seeing Keamy before he was outside Ben's house...
Posted by: AbacusAmy | May 9, 2008 10:39 AM
Okay..I think Richard wanted Locke to pick the book of laws because he wanted him to pick all the things that were on the island. for example the sand, obviously on the island, the compass he found in season 1 and gave it to sayid remember? and the book of laws is where eko finds the orientation video...just a thought.
Posted by: Jaclyn | May 9, 2008 10:40 AM
A+++ Daniel and yes I like this type of episode better it messes with your mind alot, like Ben...
It was A pluses because:
- Claire is not only 'dead', she is not at all concerned about Aaron and is all creepy and giggly, not maternal at all, like those parents who haunt their kids (Emily Linus for example). I am guessing that these "bodies" are possessed by the "Jacob" factor and are not actually Christian and Claire (and Horace ...etc, etc)
- Both Ben and Locke's mom(s) were named Emily and they were both premature babies (premies)
- Locke seemed to have been the "chosen one" whose choices delayed his trip to the island, however the Ben ended up in all the right places at the right times (save that pun for later :)to become the leader of the 'Others'
- Matthew Abbadon putting the idea of a walkabout in Locke's head, which is what landsd him in Australia to start with ...
- Richard's time travel
Last night was for the cultists (See Book of Laws people - more than meets the eye)

I hope that made sense. i meant to say the compass that locke found in season one.
Posted by: Jaclyn | May 9, 2008 10:42 AM
also does anyone have any thoughts on the fact that the purge happened 12 years ago but rousseau (sp?) has been on the island for 16? did ben steal alex while he was still dharma?
Posted by: Jaclyn | May 9, 2008 10:45 AM
I think Locke was supposed to pick the Book of Laws.
Someone on another site mentioned both John and Ben's moms insisted on naming them John and Ben. That is from the bible too. I think it was Leah, wife of Jacob (correct me if I am wrong) who insisted on the names of her sons when it would be the mans decision back in the day. May mean nothing but felt smart and I wanted to share.
Posted by: jen | May 9, 2008 10:45 AM
did anyone notice what was taped inside teen Locke's locker? it seemed like it should be significant.
also, for the previews of next week when the woman says something like they're calling you the Oceanic 6, didn't it look like a spaceship was opening?? it reminded me of the inside view of "close encounters" and really really creeped me out..am i crazy??
Posted by: goldy | May 9, 2008 10:45 AM
i think its interesting that john's counselor told him he cant be the super hero type, & jack's dad told him he's not a hero either...does this tie in with all the comic books we've seen?? & if they're not heros then what are they? does that mean they cant save the day or the island?
Posted by: buttercup | May 9, 2008 10:45 AM

Posted by: Bruthas Keeper | May 9, 2008 10:47 AM
Jaclyn- you are bringing up a lot of good stuff I hadn't thought of before. 12 years vs 16 years... very strange. Also your reasoning behind the 3 items makes a lot of sense as to why those things "belong" to Locke.
Posted by: AbacusAmy | May 9, 2008 10:47 AM
thanks abacusAmy...I like to post early because when other people start posting really intense things i get lost in the crowd.
Posted by: Jaclyn | May 9, 2008 10:49 AM
Maybe Richard freaked when young Locke picked the knife because he had some sort of "preminition" that one "chosen one" would cause destruction (Ben) and the other (Locke) would save the island--but at that point he didn't know which was which?
Posted by: Malone | May 9, 2008 10:49 AM
bruthas keeper..that makes sense and reminds me why i should just read this site, not post :)
Posted by: goldy | May 9, 2008 10:50 AM
Yay! You're up and running again :) I watched my tape of the show TWICE last night, then logged on in the wee smalls, only to find everything locked up tight here. I could hardly get to sleep:(
Where to start? So many answers, but so many new questions. Richard. Abaddon. Live Doc. Dead Doc. Christian. Claire. This episode was an A+++++++++ and then some.
Richard showing up the hospital to see baby Locke: Creepy. Showing up to see little Locke: Uber-creepy! Why did Locke draw the smoke monster killing someone? Was Locke choosing the knife in any way tied to Abaddon's later comment about the "walkabout" (you only take a knife with you) or to the case full of knives he had with him when the plane crashed? Seems like there must be some connection. What was the name of the book? I thought at first it said "Book of Souls". Then as I looked at it more times it looked more like "Book of Laws". Anyone know for sure what it said? A google search shows that Book of Souls is about Satan and Book of Laws appears to be about Witchcraft. I guess either would fit!
Also, Locke playing Backgammon from little on must mean something. Remember how he talked to Walt about the dark and the light and good and evil? Does anyone think that Richard may be Locke's "real" father", and if so, then who is the con-man? A step- father? Richard would be about twice the age of Emily, as her mother said. I know I'm kind of going out on a limb there.
Now I am really going to go out on a limb, but bear with me: Is it possible that Richard and Abaddon are different manifestations of the same being? And I say being, because I no longer believe that either of them are human. When Abaddon was talking to Locke, I was suddenly struck by his similarity to Richard. Eerie eyes that look right through you. Angular jaw. 5 o'clock shadow. Creepy half-smile. Then I started thinking of the backgammon game and the dark/light, good/evil thing. Could one be a good manifestation and the other an evil one? You people are all so good at theorizing. If this looks like a possibility, maybe you can flesh it out for me.
One last thing. Doc's nastily stitched cut did not appear to be on his face when he was killed. So how could it have been there when he was found?
My brain is about to explode from trying to understand this episode. Arrgggghhh!

The naming of John reminded me of the story of the naming of John the Baptist, the prohet who proclaimed the coming of Jesus. Men children were supposed to be named for one of their relatives, but this did not happen in the case of John the Baptist, whose mother proclaimed (and father approved) that his name would be John.

Ben & Locke brothers... I like that train of thought. it would certainly explain the dialogue b/w Ben & Locke in which Locke says 2 Ben: "I'm not u," and 2 which Ben replies: u certainly r NOT."
I'm asking about the actual captain b/c I don't think I've ever seen him b4. we saw Keamy as soon as Sayid & Desmond landed on the freighter, and Keamy was introduced as the captain. when did the actual captain (who helped Sayid) come in2 play? did we c a flash forward/back for him like we saw w/Miles, Faraday, Charlotte, & Lapidus (Lawnmower Man)?
Is Abbadon (The Wire!) independent of Whidmore? Abbadon only hired Naomi, Faraday, Charlotte, Miles, & Lapidus. I'm not sure if he hired Keamy & Co. b/c the real captain said "I was hired 2 ferry scientists" and Lapidus says "I was hired 2 fly scientists." So if Abbadon was hiring scientists only, how did they end up w/Keamy & Co.?

This episode was by far one of my favourites this season. I am always perplexed with John Locke's name as John Locke was one of the greatest philosophers of the Enlightenment - along with Hobbes and yes Rousseau (recognize that name). The childhood scene with Locke and Richard was interesting - especially with the Book of Laws on the table. I may be going far too much into it but Locke the philosopher was famous for this thought - Locke also suggested that “the little and almost insensible impressions on our tender infancies have very important and lasting consequences." Too true in our John Locke.

On a note about lostisagame.com great research, but that kid needs to get laid. Awesome episode. whoever said ben and locke are brothers I agree. claire goes from scared confused. mother to weird sinister smiling woman hanging out in a dark cabin with her dead dad.. somethings missing. wasn't claire told that only she could raise aaron.. and christian now says aaron is where he needs to be? did anyone else think that the lockes mom getting hit by car looked an aweful lot like the island houses.

Goldy - no you're not crazy. But it def wasn't a space ship. I was in the Navy, stationed on air craft carriers, and thats just what it looks like when the hangar bay open. (Below the flight deck.) From next weeks clips it looks like the "O6" get on the freighter and are taken back. We shall see...

OMG! This episode was an A+ for me for sure! For me it's right up there with The Constant.
Here are my notes:
No previously on LOST - always freaks me out!
I also noticed that Emily (John's mom) Looked exactly like claire! And that her name was the same as Ben's mom.
My favorite line from Hurley, of course: "You're following me? Dude, I'm not even in front!"
The scene when Locke, Hurley & Ben where looking for the cabin was excellent. There was so much emotion & so much was said with expression. I LOVED IT!
HORACE!: That has got to be one of my favorite scenes of LOST ever! My head was spinning! It was so well done, so eerie.
Christian-hunk-o-luv baby! (that was for all you Christian groupies!) So he's Jacob's right hand man, his 'No.2' let's say!
I get a calming feeling from him in this scene. In the past Christian scenes, for me, have been full of tension & turmoil. I was relaxed the whole time he spoke! Spooky!!!!!!
RICHARD ALPERT!!!! OMG! Richard is his own entity as far as I'm concerned. I don't think the same rules apply to him that they do to everyone else. Richard ISN'T taking the sub back to town. haha!
I believe Richard may be a spawn of the island. I have to think about this further before I go on.
Almost like who came first: The island or Richard?
I thought it was funny when Hurley said HE had a THEORY why only they can see the cabin. That made me chuckle.
(when they showed John as a kid)The black smoke drawing on the wall was freaky.
I got goosebumps when Richard showed Locke the items.
However, the knife DOES belong to John. I'm confused as to why Richard said that wasn't right.
Teenage John ; So they come back for him, which maybe means, he did pick the correct items. Maybe he Richard was disappointed that John didn't already realize what his real destiny was & what he was really meant to do on the island. And that made him think he wasn't ready yet.
Always love "Don't tell me what I can't do!"
Sayid & Desmond & events on the freighter! My head is still spinning!
Favorite line of all time: Ben: "Destiny is a fickle bitch!"
I knew that was Abbadon pushing John in the wheelchair. A chill came over me. WTF?! I can't wait until they run into each other again & Abbadon is looking to collect!
WHY did Capt. Gault look away, NEVER take your eyes off someone who has a gun on you!
Meanwhile back on the island: The phone Frank dropped: I like the way Capt Gault & Frank are pretty clueless what they're actually doing there. So many secrets & so intertwined. I love it!
Hurley is very sweet for sharing his candy bar. Ladies the truth is, although I heart Jack, if I was there I'd befriend Hurley before Jack or Sawyer anyday!
Claire looked as spooky as I was hoping for!!! "Don't worry, I'm fine, I'm with him!" NICE!
He wants us to move the island! I & I remember a few other people mentioning the island being able to re-locate. That's probably the first thing I was ever close to be right about so far, I think! :)
Sorry for rambling! I'm very interested to read what you guys think of 'Cabin Fever'!
Happy Friday y'all!

So we now know that Abbadon was the one who "influenced" Locke to take the trip to Australia but the big question is what will Locke owe him when they meet again? If so, why did Abbadon recruit Daniel, Sarah, Naomi etc to find Ben, shouldn't they be finding Locke.
Is it Team Abbadon vs Team Richard. Who are the players on each team. Let's get some lines drawn pretty soon!!! That will make it alittle easier to follow the plot.
The man who got shot on the freighter was the captain. Didn't someone mention earlier that the captain cannot be trusted. He seemed to be helpful with Sayid getting the raft to return to the island. Can't wait to see the losties expression when they see Sayid and find out the Ban was right about the people on the freighter wanting to kill everyone. Maybe Ben will start his manipulation of Sayid when they meet again.
Also, Juliette has a strange smirk on her face when the helicopter flew overhead?
So the morse code came in to the freighter and said that the doctor had his throat slit before he even left the freighter. The time lapse plot still confuses me...Does it mean that the island foresee's the future before it actually happens?
Can't wait tilll next week!!

I usually love Daniel's reviews because they have funny comments and insights. Today's stunk. It was a basic play by play of the show. For more insight, please go to Entertainment Weekly's site and read the episode reviews from Mr. Jenson (I believe that is who does them). They give to much information to duplicate here, but just take a look - you'll be fascinated. Daniel, I hope next week you are back "on your game".

I'm glad others were jumping up and down like children in front of their tv sets. It started with Richard looking in on baby John and never stoppped . . .

Tootsie1 - I am with you on being blown away by this episode!!
Posted by: kat | May 9, 2008 11:03 AM
Did anyone think that Claire looked drugged? I think *I'd* have to be to be so calm while sitting in a freaky cabin in the jungle with my dead Daddy while my baby was sitting alone in the wilderness. Right?

I agree with everyone else that John's Emily must be Ben's Emily...there are no coincidences on this show, so John and Ben must be brothers. BUT...are they full or half brothers?
I think Richard is the father of John, maybe also of Ben. I recall Emily asking her mother if she was jealous when Emily was leaving the house...and the look on the mother's face when Richard showed up at the hospital window there, she definitely recognized him, but told the nurse she didn't.
And of course, we all wonder why Richard never ages. Is he Jacob himself or is he, like Christian, Jacob's VP or something? I would love to find out how Christian comes to play such a big part in this...perhaps in some flashback we'll hopefully see, Christian encounters Richard or Jacob. And it's interesting that since Christian is such a big part of the island now, that both of his children happen to be on that island now. As I said, no coincidences in this show.

When Richard was testing Locke and asked him which of the things already belonged to him, he wanted him to pick the comic book, on the cover was a lost island or something like that, I don't remember the exact words, but that is what Richard wanted him to chose when he chose the knife on TOP of the book.
Posted by: Vickie | May 9, 2008 11:04 AM
girl239, I think Daniel, like the rest of us, was too blown away to get snarky. He was just letting it sink in . . .
Posted by: cathead67 | May 9, 2008 11:04 AM
OMG!!!!! most of you guys are completly skipping over the best Lost moment ever!!!
Just Hurley and Ben chillin and sharing a candy bar. No schemes or action at all. That was F-ing I N C R E D I B L E.
Posted by: Adam | May 9, 2008 11:05 AM
i think the reason why Richard told John that the knofe wasn't his is because it was a test. John is very concerned about being a super hero or a man of great phyiscal strength, but the truth is that his destiny is with the island. so, Richard checks in on him periodically to see if he is "ready" to realize what he should be doing. you see, John's initial reaction was to the sand and compass, but he ultimately chose the knife. he later rejects the science camp cause he doesnt want to be viewed in that way. another sign that he was not "ready" for the island.
Posted by: sarah | May 9, 2008 11:07 AM
Isn't there eventually going to be some sort of problem with John? Richard told him in order to be their leader, he had to kill his father who conned him out of a kidney. But John couldn't do it. He had Sawyer kill him instead. I think this is going to bite him in the ass at some point.
Posted by: Ass Biter | May 9, 2008 11:07 AM
Claire seemed to be in a weird trance to me. That goofy smile on her face, like she was relaxed... who could relax there?!? Then again Christian wasn't creepy this time, he was very soothing- I thought maybe he had hypnotized Claire or something.
Posted by: AbacusAmy | May 9, 2008 11:07 AM
Adam, to me "Destiny is a fickle bitch" was the best moment ever. Poor jealous little Ben, acting like a spoiled brat because John got chosen over him.
Posted by: cathead67 | May 9, 2008 11:08 AM
I think Little John was supposed to pick the comic book with the picture of the island on it. Richard didnt try to recruit him again until high school, after he made a model of an ISLAND for the science fair.
Posted by: Hey You | May 9, 2008 11:09 AM
Ahh . . . who needs the Jack/Kate romance when we've got the Ben/John bromance? So much more entertaining!
Posted by: cathead67 | May 9, 2008 11:10 AM
Here is my quick two cents.....I believe both Richard and Abbadon are searching for the "next in line" to the island throne. I believe one has good intentions and one has evil intentions(doesn't matter which is which). When young Locke reached for the knife, Richard quickly new he was not "his" guy, but later in life I believe it was Abbadon who tried to recruit him to the "summer Science Camp" and the walkabout because he knew he was "his" guy..
Posted by: Bruthas Keeper | May 9, 2008 11:11 AM
Locke said "he did" when asked what happened to the dharma people...creepier than "he did it" as written here...
Posted by: jason | May 9, 2008 11:11 AM
OK...hold up. Holdfaster you noted that John's grandmother looked a lot like Ben's mother. Ben's mother's name is Emily. After last night's episode we learned that John's mother's name is Emily. John is quite a few years older than Ben. Could it be possible that Ben and John are half brothers? Same mother?
Wow...I just blew my own mind. I think I need to go lie down.
Posted by: mandisweetdreams | May 9, 2008 11:11 AM
Dana Michelle: you might have something going with Alpert and Abaddon being just part of the two sides, black and white, good and evil. What if it's the island that's playing the game?
I shrieked when I saw Richard! Although I admit I was one of those who wished he didn't get canceled on his new show, I'm thrilled that he is back to finish being part of this fine headache we call LOST.
To answer Daniel's question, Definitely a better show when its talking about mythology, just like the X-Files. They had black oil, we got Smokie; they had aliens, we got Smokie!
Claire kinda creeped me out, and I thought for sure Christian was gonna transform himself into something scary. I was covering my eyes the whole time like a little baby.
Posted by: Janice | May 9, 2008 11:12 AM
I think that in the fb Abbadon is working for Widmore. They must somehow know that Locke is the "chosen one" and if he flies near the island, the plane will crash to bring Locke to it. This is how Widmore knows that 815 is really on the island. Otherwise, how is he so sure that 815 is there?
Posted by: Raven R. | May 9, 2008 11:13 AM
dana michelle - The doc's had a scar on his left cheek.
Posted by: kat | May 9, 2008 11:13 AM
I don't know if anyone else noticed but the way in which richard asked Locke to choose those things was the same thing I saw in a movie about how they choose the dalai lama. It was to show he was a reincarnation of the old dalai lama I think. This whole episode seemed very spiritual to me I guess which is the mythology thing yall have all talkedabout. I'd say my favorite episode of the season. I loved it.
Posted by: stan | May 9, 2008 11:13 AM
I think there is definitely a theme with the games that Locke plays -- remember the chess game with the computer, as well as the "Risk" game?? Ben has also made references to games (eg: the "breaking the rules" comment).
Also, the Ben/Locke being brothers theory is interesting -- remember when Ben brought Locke's "father" to the island, and said that Locke **needed** to kill his father? (which he couldn't bring himself to do).
All in all, a great episode.

Hey You: Did I miss that? I don't recall the science fair project being revealed. I watched online, so I could have missed it.
Posted by: girl239 | May 9, 2008 11:14 AM
Thanks 4 clearing that up Jaclyn. so, the note Sayid got while he & Desmond were being held on the freighter said "don't trust the captain." does that mean Keamy or the dead captain?

OK...well there I go with the hasty posting. I see Mish and Barbara beat me to my "are Ben and John brothers" theory.
Different note: Claire was really creepy last night. She seemed very not herself and odd. Hmm.............
Posted by: mandisweetdreams | May 9, 2008 11:16 AM
Last week I brought up the issue with the purge only having been 12 years ago (according to what Horace said) but that just not fitting with the chronology of things. Ben would have to be way younger than he is. Now it's looking like other people are picking up on this (The 16 year-Rousseau comment) Something doesn't add up and I think this is going to be relevant down the line.
I like the idea of Ben and John being brothers. Plays into the whole birthright thing. Maybe Richard fathered both of them, as well as Aaron!
Maybe Richard fathered every last person on that island. Just about every one of them has father issues. Ok, that's just nuts. Or is it?
Posted by: dana michelle | May 9, 2008 11:16 AM
kruxoli - i believe keamy and co were introduced as security.

Does anyone else think that the reason there will be just 6 lostees rescued is because Locke will be able to move the island. After the first group gets off, the island disappears?
Posted by: Kayce | May 9, 2008 11:19 AM
Karla L.: Interesting how you brought up that Ben told Locke he needed to kill his father, especially since Ben killed his own father. Maybe there was supposed to be a pattern or certain path that should be taken by Locke, but he keeps making unexpected choices - like choosing the knife and not being able to kill his own father. Ben even tried to identify with John when he accused him of tricking Hurley into thinking it was his idea to remain with them, but John told Ben it wasn't a manipulation and Ben seemed surprised.
Posted by: girl239 | May 9, 2008 11:20 AM
mandisweetdreams, did you mean to say john's mother instead of grandmother? that's what i meant earlier, that his mother looked like ben's mom and also like clair.

jacklyn...I also wondered how rossueau survived the purge. to my previous point about locke born on the island, wouldn't that make him special and why richard wants him.
Posted by: Gregg | May 9, 2008 11:23 AM
Kayce: That is a great thought! It would explain things, but the six would have to have some idea that the other survivors are still alive, otherwise they wouldn't be wanting to go back, as Jack has stated.
Posted by: girl239 | May 9, 2008 11:23 AM
Kat: The doc did have a healing wound last night, but remember how it looked like it was healing when we first saw him, but it was all fresh and horribly sewn up when his body washed up on the island? I recall someone pointing out the discrepancy when that episode aired. There didn't appear to be any stitches in it anymore when he was still alive, so where did they come from when he was found dead?

I agree that John's mom resembled Claire. I thought that too. What could that possibly mean????? or are the writers of the show just enjoying throwing us for a loop! "Hey, this actress looks alot like Claire, let's use her - it'll really freak the viewers out!" I dont' know about you, but my mind hurts!
Posted by: girl239 | May 9, 2008 11:27 AM
I think Richard is time traveling. I think that the items he had were already John's because he took them from him. He wanted to see if "little john" could recognize the things that were his from a young age.

Posted by: lost fan | May 9, 2008 11:36 AM
Ben and John cant be brothers. Bens mom dies during childbirth. Anthony Cooper later used John's mom, Emily, as part of a con to get John to donate his kidney. So, she is still alive...if she was the same woman...she would of died while having Ben. Good idea...But, Johns mom is still around. Well...They could have the same DAD...but not mothers...

I loved the Fickle Bitch line. I usually will only rewind the DVR if I couldn't understand something or if I missed something. I actually rewound that line 3 times just to hear Michael Emerson's deleivery of it. It was perfect.
Did anyone notice what was taped to the inside of High School John's locker. There was the cover of a comic book I think and a black & white picture of some man. I paused it but couldn't make it out. Did anyone see it?
Posted by: widsl | May 9, 2008 11:38 AM
Goldy - I'm thinking that what you think looks like a spaceship is the loading area of a naval vessel of some kind maybe? Like how a ship backs up to the beach and unloads men and tanks? Maybe it will be Penny and her money hiring some kind of ship to the rescue.
That's just what it looked like to me.
Posted by: lost in bend | May 9, 2008 11:43 AM
HHHELLLLLOOOOOO CHRISTIAN! wahoo. i have been saying since day one that he would be so very important to this island and the plot of it. there is a reason he "speaks" for jacob.
okay here i go
1) claire is not dead or LOST dead. when she saw christian she had no idea he was dead. i think he explained the island, etc to her, which is why she had that face when locked asked what he needed to do to save the island. whatever christian told her it must be good because she seems a-okay with whatever happens to aaron. i wonder why he told locke not to say anything...wait i just thought of this...ben and juliet have to know claire and jack are related right? i mean they have their files...DUH why did i never think of that.
2) locke's real father is not the man sawyer killed. i want it to be christian SO SO SO SO SO bad, that would be crazy. that could be why claire looked at him the way she did and she always felt comfortable around him.
3) as soon as i saw the black hands pushing the wheel chair i knew it was abaddon. i think he may be working for whidmore, as keamy and crew are. but they both have different missions.
4)i want to know how they explain aaron as one of the 6
4) i forgot lockes mom's name was emily, she was way back in season one i think thats why she never really seemed important by the time we met bens mom, emily...
so the family would be...emily is mother to ben and locke (half brothers) christian (i hope) could be lockes dad and ill go with roger actually being bens dad.
then we go to christian being the father of jack and claire and locke...interesting how the man of faith/man of science come from the same father and the mother of the "savior?" of the island is their little sister...
could this all be going back to my jacob/aaron family bible story...
5) ps i dig christians new look. and richards guyliner is looking fabu as always. and the candy bar scene was the funniest f.ing thing i have seen in a long time.
ahhh so much more to say but i just cant put it all together
Posted by: sarah badara | May 9, 2008 11:44 AM
jennifer i totally read your post after i posted mine about the moms, how could i forget that!?!?!? damn, there goes that theory, well at least the ben and locke being brothers part, but that still leaves my locke and claire and jack siblings theory in tact

i agree great episode, i think the way they move the island comes from the comic book...slow it down & look at the cover, genius!
Posted by: buddha00man | May 9, 2008 11:52 AM
Could the compass have represented the fact that locke is supposed to MOVE the island?!?!
Posted by: Jenna | May 9, 2008 11:52 AM
It would be fun to think that Emily Linus and Emily Locke are the same person, but remember, Emily Locke met Locke when she was older.
Unless the writers want to reeeeeally reach and say that Swoozie Kurtz's "Emily" was a liar paid by Anthony Cooper to say she was Locke's mom, but not actually related to Locke at all. I really don't see them doing that. I think the "Emily" is just another way to point out how similar Locke and Ben are in some ways.
What I really want to know is WHO is Abaddon, really? Good or Bad? Working for Widmore, or himself, or someone else entirely? Somehow related to Mrs. Hawking and Richard and the other characters who seem to have unclear loyalties?
Lastly, SO happy that CBS is letting Nestor Carbonell film for Lost. Was Cane cancelled or something? CBS had said they wouldn't be letting him film for other networks because they didn't want to "confuse viewers."
Posted by: ali | May 9, 2008 11:54 AM
Isn't Christian too young to be Locke's dad too? Maybe not technically, but Locke is alot older than Jack. Plus Locke's mom was seeing an older man. In fb Locke's mom is pretty old (seemingly older than Christian), so unless he's aging really well (like Richard) he can't be the older man who Emily Locke was dating. That's a mouthful and might not make sense... anyone?
Posted by: AbacusAmy | May 9, 2008 11:54 AM
ali, i thought that too about anthony cooper, but why would two people who werent even related con this guy? but there has to be a reason the moms have the same name, unless the writers like playing with our emotions...
Posted by: sarah badara | May 9, 2008 11:56 AM
Oh, and also: WHY IS JACK SO STUPID? "Gee, we know that Daniel and Charlotte have lied about some important stuff and are generally acting sketchy. Now let's go follow their people's helicopter into the jungle! Isn't that a swell idea, guys?"
Posted by: ali | May 9, 2008 11:56 AM
I know Christian might be too young, but I don't think Locke and Jack have that much of an age difference, considering, do we really know the exact ages of our characters?
Posted by: sarah badara | May 9, 2008 11:58 AM
Hasn't Locke seen Richard while on the island? You can't tell me he doesn't recognize him...?
Posted by: Crystal | May 9, 2008 12:00 PM
But maybe, just maybe Emily did not really die? Lot's of people "die" on this show...otherwise what could them both being named Emily mean. Everything on the show happens or is done for a reason... Also, consider time travel, maybe Emily is a time traveler? That also might not have been John's real mom that helped with the con. remember she gave him up when he was born, he would have no idea what she should look like.
Posted by: Barbara | May 9, 2008 12:02 PM
Crytal-Locke was pretty young when Richard came for a visit. I can buy that he would not recognize him now. I wouldn't recognize half of my own cousins if I ran them over.
Posted by: widsl | May 9, 2008 12:02 PM
widsl, I agree about the "fickle bitch" line. This is why more theatrical actors should be on television and in film. They tend to learn more technical craft, like Michael Emerson, which can only improve upon already good writing.
Posted by: ali | May 9, 2008 12:04 PM
Okay, Locke is 48 but no idea on Jack's birthday. I guess Christian would be too old, bummer. I was really excited about that. To be Locke's dad he would have to have been born in the 1920's which would make him 80-something at the time of his death. But I mean, what brings me back to the fact that it could be him is that he is representing Jacob!! Who is to say Christian is not like Richard, only Richard spends more time on the island, hence his ageless appearance over the past fifty years (from Locke's birth to now). Christian isn't always on the island, so he still ages some, just not as much. And does anyone wonder why he had an affair with a woman all the way in Australia? I mean, my aunt is a doctor, but she doesn't fly halfway around the world for conferences and stuff...
And I just thought of this. My boyfriend said its because Locke was too young to remember, but how could he not recognize Richard when he saw him on the island? I know I don't remember a lot from yesterday, but I can recognize faces like its cool, and I'm thinking I'd have no problem recognizing a face that hadn't aged in 40 years.
PS I'm not really arguing with any one who thinks otherwise. ( I feel thats what this sounds like ) I'm kinda just laying it out there for my own sake...sorry.
Posted by: sarah badara | May 9, 2008 12:05 PM
I find It kind of odd, almost dissapointing, that sayid was able to just hop on the motorized dingy and head right back toward the island, I mean it was good, but your telling me that the entire time Des and Sayid were on the freighter they never thought of hopping on that dingy and zooming off?
Posted by: SIllyIslan | May 9, 2008 12:05 PM
three creepy faces...
Claire with that smirk hanging out behind the cabin door.
Abbadon looking at wheelchair John in the elevator.
Then Richard! He was the creepiest! It was haunting when he was looking at baby John. I saw that face in my sleep!

Abbadon = Jacob ??? Just a thought...but I haven't finished reading all the comments yet so somebody else has probably already had that same thought.
Posted by: mandisweetdreams | May 9, 2008 12:08 PM
widsl - the picture is of English explorer Sir Richard Burton.
Stephanie - the first this i thought when i saw Richard in the episode was that he was time travelling. maybe thats why this episode doesnt really intrigue me as it does everyone else. its getting easier to put the puzzle pieces together.
the scene with Horace was masterful! how the tree he chopped down kept reappearing. not to mention he was the guy who helped Ben when he was born. no one sees the coincidence in that?
Posted by: sarah | May 9, 2008 12:09 PM
I agree, Claire's face totally made my blood run cold. I think those few seconds were her best acting on the show so far. (Sorry, I am an actor, so I can't stop commenting on it - sorry.)
Posted by: widsl | May 9, 2008 12:09 PM
i think that i myself am of the school of thought that the mothers emily look alike for the same reason (whatever it may be) that jack's wife sarah looked so much like juliette, who looked a lot like penny, etc. etc. partly to keep us excited and wondering, and partly to show some weird interconnectedness. obviously claire isn't also emily, right? so no, i don't think it's the same emily. although if i'm proven wrong that would be pretty awesome. i'm more interested in the thought that the father of ben and john could be the same mystery man, possibly someone we already know like christian or richard... man this is a good show.

john met richard in season 3. john was sitting above the others camp deciding whether to kill his dad and richard came to him.

reincarnation theory - I'm thinking the same thing after seeing the picture of the smoke monster attacking a man (?) that little John drew. I was also thinking they all have a destiny to fulfill and then Ben says basically the same thing! I'm wondering if John (little) picked up the knife on purpose because he was freaked having to go to some "special" school? Who wants to be different at that age? Good pick up on Locke building the island for science experiment and then the attempt to get Locke again. Maybe realized the ONLY way they were going to be able to get Locke onto the island was with the plane crash? Destiny for the rest also??? Not sure if I agree that Ben and Locke are related or that Ben was chosen first but then later realized mistake, should have been John all along. Or related and like Cain and Able? Or John the "Prodigal Son" returning home? Widmore or whoever behind this knew to look for baby born to single mom named Emily? Claire single mom?? Aaron the next savior? Ben definitely jealous of Locke. Claire's look seemed downright evil to me. Jacob's spirit in Claire??? Did anyone else notice, and this was mentioned last week on here, that once Locke entered into the cabin his eyes turned brown? They were still brown when he came out and told Ben and Hurley about having to move the island. Changing eyes mean Jacob's spirit in control?? I am so blown away by this episode!! Sorry for all the rambling but, WOW! Got to watch this one at least one more time. Oh, one last thing! Did anyone else notice that the coordinates for Sayid were not the same????

Does anyone else notice how Portland is always the city? Anyone have a theory for that? Sorry if I missed it before but it just hit me last night...
Locke born in Portland, Ben born outside of Portland, Locke's weed growing cult like place was outside of Portland and they recruited Juliet to what was supposed to be Portland

TCB: Portland = portal?

Hi, just a couple of ideas. I think the next season will tell the story of the rise and fall of the dharma empire, besides the ongoing story of the oceanics and the islanders. And for me it looks like the temple mentioned by ben turn out to be the orchid station.
Posted by: henry | May 9, 2008 12:24 PM
Jack's comment "we have to go back" at the airport with Kate....
could that be to bring Aaron back to the island? Maybe that's why Claire is so content with Aaron being cared for by Kate - if it's only for a little while then he'll return to her at a later date....when Aaron grows up he'll take over for Locke who took over for Ben... etc.
Posted by: Hey You | May 9, 2008 12:27 PM
Hey you-that's a really interesting theory.
Posted by: widsl | May 9, 2008 12:30 PM
wow, i just read this on ew.com and had to share!
Locke is born early. At age 5, he takes a test that most likely would have taken him to the Island if he had passed. He didn't. That same year, Benjamin Linus is born. At age 16, Locke is invited to go to a science camp that again would have taken him to the Island. He refused. About that same time, Benjamin Linus and his father joined the Dharma Initiative. The implication, it seems, is that Ben has been walking the path that was originally meant for Locke. Ben was the contingency plan — the course correction — for Locke's altered destiny.
Posted by: buttercup | May 9, 2008 12:32 PM
I like the idea of the rise and fall of dharma. On Lostpedia it says the basics of what season 5 and season 6 will be. I hope no one minds, but it's knowledge for all to see and the writers have talked about it so if you dont want to know stop reading...
SEMI SPOILER
I was going to type them, cause they were kinda eh, no big deal, but then i scrolled down and read everything...some things are really from the creators/writers and others is reported stuff...so the only people who's word I am taking is the writers. But they are interesting to read.

sorry if somebody already posted this, but it's already getting hard to keep up.
since women who conceive on the island die, maybe richard is leaving the island to father children he later has to bring back to the island.
i think richard might be immortal and/or a descendant of the black rock (that knife he showed boy-locke looked OLD), or something along those lines.

oh wow, buttercup, awesome find!
Posted by: sarah badara | May 9, 2008 12:34 PM
mandisweetdreams, did you mean to say john's mother instead of grandmother? that's what i meant earlier, that his mother looked like ben's mom and also like clair.
I did...my mistake.

good catch buttercup. about the most interesting thing i've seen on here.

I'm going with ButterCup's theory, and both were born under distress to women named Emily.
Posted by: Viv | May 9, 2008 12:42 PM
So how do they move the island? Everybody get in the water on one side and kick real hard? hahaha, I read that on another blog this morning. Thought it was funny.
Posted by: suzie | May 9, 2008 12:52 PM
Seems like Locke had a compass in Season 1 or 2 but gave it to someone else because he didn't need it anymore. I could look this up of course, but I think I've wasted enough time on LOST at work today :D
Posted by: tree | May 9, 2008 12:56 PM
LMAO
Posted by: sarah badara | May 9, 2008 12:56 PM
Humor me on this one...
Charlie's message to Jack - "you're not supposed to raise him"
Hurley "you'll be visited by someone soon too"
Jack's dad starts haunting him - what if it's to command that he return to the island with Aaron.
Jack starts boozing and ruins Kate and his relationship with his obsession about the island - Kate breaks up with him because there's no way she's going back there now that she has a perfect life
However, something always bothered me. When Jack was caught stealing pills from the hospital medicine closet after his attempted suicide bridge jump, he said to the attending Dr, "go up there and get my dad and if Im more drunk than he is you can fire me" or something like that. Why did that never get addressed by the Dr? Was he really alive or did they just assume Jack was so wasted that he forgot all about it.
Posted by: Hey You | May 9, 2008 12:58 PM
on a more serious note, I DO NOT TRUST CHRISTIAN (sorry sarah b.)
He was a terrible father to Jack and Claire.
He talked Sawyer into leaving the bar in Sydney and going back to kill that innocent guy.
He got Claire to leave her baby alone in the jungle to go with him. (and she was specificly told to raise him herself).
He was always trying to screw up Jack's self confidence.
Plus he was a serious drunk.
NOW, instead of talking to Jacob (where WAS Jacob??) Locke gets his info from Christian.
Should Locke listen to Christian?
Does Ben realize that Locke never talked to Jacob?
We have the undead guys: Abaddon, Christian, and Richard *they could all be evil!
Posted by: suzie | May 9, 2008 01:02 PM
Suzie! I am SO mad at you now! LOL jk.
I don't think Christian knew what he was talking Sawyer into doing and I thought about the psychic dude too, but he freaks me out. I am not sure about him at all. Was Claire supposed to raise him, or wasn't she??
Posted by: sarah badara | May 9, 2008 01:04 PM
love the comments here. it always helps me to sort things out.
LOST just makes my head explode. A+ last night.
when locke said they had to move the island. omg, i was thinking is that why jack cant get back cause he doesnt know where it is??
Posted by: mj | May 9, 2008 01:05 PM
Widmore is an older man (sorry if dup, only got to 11:54). Could he be Locke's dad? Just a thought.
Posted by: jen | May 9, 2008 01:09 PM
I'm sure this has been brought up time and time again over the many episodes, but it bears repeating.
Locke and Ben weren't raised by their mothers... Jin wasn't... Alex wasn't... undoubtedly others that I can't think of right now. Maybe the island really doesn't want Claire to raise Aaron, even if she's "supposed" to, and the island is using Christian and his voodoo mind tricks as a means of separating mother and child so that Aaron can't get whatever it is that she was supposed to give him by raising him.
Was Jack? What about Sawyer? I guess we don't know everything about everyone's parents, although it feels like we should by now!

great episode..umm why isnt Aaron suposed to be on the island, I thought that claire was the only one that was supposed to raise him?
Posted by: punkrockmom | May 9, 2008 01:12 PM
The note that came under the door and said "don't trust the captain" kinda makes sense now. He gave Sayid the wrong cooridinates. He is going to show up to the island at a different "time"!

Abaddon is bad. Just my theory.

I think Sawyer was only raised by his mom until the age of 7 or 10 or something - his father shot her while Sawyer was hiding under the bed because of her affair with the con-man. I'm not sure who raised him after that. Hurley was raised by his mom though, and he can see the cabin.
Kate lived with her mom up until she killed her step-dad. So add that one to the kill-your-dad theory (locke, ben)
Posted by: Hey You | May 9, 2008 01:22 PM
Taylor: I totally forgot about that note! Yikes!
Posted by: dana michelle | May 9, 2008 01:22 PM
hey you, thanks, i forgot about sawyer's mom getting killed.
it kind of seems unfair that hurley's now theorizing about the show while ON the show (i think we can see the cabin because we're the craziest)... leave that to the professional fan geeks, son!

Posted by: lost fan | May 9, 2008 01:31 PM
okay...haven't had time to read all the comments. I hate that the site was down so long today, but i am ready to catch up...here are some question/thoughts i had while watching:
omg...is richard lockes' father?
omg..is emily locke's and ben's mother? brothers w/ different fathers?
locke is a man of science and faith!?! i had no idea!
keamy is evil, i hope sayid kills him slowly
horace and his bloody nose...richard never aging..I think they are all time traveling like desmond. that explains why richard can be off/on the island even 50 years ago.
richard is HOT!!
lawnmower man helping our Losties! I hope he doesn't die to to save them, but is there another alternative?
move the island?? wtf? i started thinking about and i wonder if they are going to move the island in time, like time wise? into another dimension of time and space. if so, and they/jacob can, well then, no wonder the O6 can't find the island to save the rest of the losties. they get off w/ sayid but can't find their way back.
CLAIRE!!! With CHRISTIAN, WHO CAN SPEAK FOR JACOB..OMG
So smug and seemingly carefree, our Claire. she's got to be dead.
A+++++ episode imo. this and the constant, 2 best shows of the season.
gonna read comments now and catch up. Daniel, i'm so glad the site came up, i was wigging out w/o the diary
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 01:33 PM
Could it be that they will "move" the island to a different "time" rather than to a different physical "location"?
Posted by: Anonymous | May 9, 2008 01:38 PM
hey you - kate killed her dad. season 2 she went to see her "dad" at the recruiting office and he told her he wasn't her father that her real father was the man she had killed.
Posted by: ellie | May 9, 2008 01:39 PM
good call anon 1:11...we've all known that alot of the losties have daddy issues but i never thought about the fact that some of their mom's are MIA too.
Posted by: buttercup | May 9, 2008 01:40 PM
Looks like monkeyface had the same thought about moving the island in time.
Posted by: Anonymous | May 9, 2008 01:42 PM
anonymous - i like that idea. why give sayid different coordiates then?
Posted by: ellie | May 9, 2008 01:43 PM
yeah, i thought, how the &^%* do you MOVE an island?
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 01:45 PM
i'm not sure about the moving in time theory as opposed to moving physically. if it only moves it time then its physical location is still there in current time, if that makes sense. i've wondered if the black rock got on the island by going through a vortice but maybe its the other way around & the island moved to madagascar for a while...sort of explains how the ship got in the middle of the island...the island popped up underneath it!?
Posted by: buttercup | May 9, 2008 01:46 PM
It could be that different coordinates lead you to the island at different times. That might explain the doctor's body washing up on the island before he was killed on the boat and the time difference between when the rocket was fired from the boat and when it ended up on the island from Farraday's experiment. Just a thought.
Posted by: Anonymous | May 9, 2008 01:46 PM
Did anyone else notice on the comic book that it had a city with blue underneath it that looks like the new Lost logo this season? And to stretch it a bit further, it's one city on top of another, almost as if parallel and the one on top has movement below it, as if it's moving.
Take a look:

what if everything and everyone we've encountered thus far was planted to get specific people (or players) on the island (or game). i.e. the psychic telling claire what flight, Abbadon sending John on the walkabout, ...the possibilities list is endlist.
Posted by: ab | May 9, 2008 01:48 PM
you know, haven't there been (3) sets of coordinates used by the freighties? daniel told them to ladipus, but the cheat sheet he used in the flight back to the freighter had slightly different coordinates. now sayid is given different coordinates. idk
maybe there are different coordinates for different method of travel?
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 01:48 PM
thisnthat: I tried really hard to see that cover last night but it was so quick.. I knew I saw the words "hidden land" and thought I saw a skyline on it, but I did not notice two!
It is very clear from the link that the person is looking out an airplane window. There is definitely some connection here.
Posted by: dana michelle | May 9, 2008 01:56 PM
Maybe they have to keep changing the coordinates slightly to keep up with the time differential? Are they at anchor, or is the ship moving? Would that make a difference?
I love this show sooo much, but sometimes I think I'm not quite smart enough to comprehend it. Thank God for the rest of you who catch the stuff I miss :)

Just because it needs to be said for the ladies and myself: If they kill off Sawyer I will be devesated. He must be alive on that island. I even own the t-shirt that has his face and say's "I would get Lost with Sawyer" Too damn hot to die! Sorry after a work week I am full out of theories and on to drinking. =)
Posted by: Barbara | May 9, 2008 02:03 PM
is it just me or did Ben look totally hizzot? especially in the pit scene. not even creepy eyed evil genius hot, but like sawyer hot. what's up benjamin? then chillin with hurley eating chocolate. best scene ever & wasn't 2+ minutes. great art makes people think. lost is poetic. has the masses blogging. the mytholgy of the show is what makes it great. open for interpretation. i can't even contemplate! richard's guyliner! loves it! was that dude omar the one who sayid killed after nadia's funeral?
Posted by: leelo | May 9, 2008 02:04 PM
Finally!!! Claire was confident and smug and not whiny about her baaaaabby. She looked like the strong character she played in Roswell many moons ago.
Great episode. Gave me chills.

anon 1:46, good theory
thisnthat, thanks for the link. notice the guy on the cover is looking out a plane window? And the caption at the bottom?
just more proof that last night's epi was one of the best of the season, all the details put together. i have got to rewatch immediately
we had terrible weather here last night, tornados/thunderstorms, so lost was interrupted a lot w/ weather scrolls on the screen and VERY LOUD siren like beeps..kinda like being in the hatch, but i'd rather have heard all the dialog. i'll rewatch online, but not the same, ya know? however, we are safe and praying for the people who were impacted by the storm last night..i guess i shouldn't be too upset about the dvr, huh?
Was I the only one glad Desmond didn't go back to the island? I kept thinking NOOOOO, stay away. I was afraid he would be separated from Penny for good and unable to save future her from ben

When Richard comes to see little John for the test - he says "wow it's coming down like cats n dogs out there. Rain-Travel
Posted by: Hey You | May 9, 2008 02:14 PM
I forgot to post this about Ben: It was really kind of disconcerting for me to see Ben first being petulant and then kind of resigned to "second banana" status near the end (althought I LOVED the "fickle b*tch" comment!) Is like Locke totally stole his thunder. I prefer my Ben all evil and mastermindy.
The candybar sharing scene was kinda sweet. Reminded me of those old "Lifesavers" commercials from my childhood. **singing in my head now** Life - savers - a part of li-ving.... Life - savers!
Posted by: dana michelle | May 9, 2008 02:14 PM
Richard also mentioned something about little Locke playing backgammon when he first entered the house. Something about him doing it well. I don't recall the exact quote.
There has to be some connection to the plot because that game has come up so many times. Does anyone here know the history and rules? I played it for a few years in my early teens, but I've completely forgotten it. I do know it's a very ancient game.
Posted by: dana michelle | May 9, 2008 02:32 PM
ok, I've got to go back and watch, but I'm pretty sure it was revealed during the Locke kidney donation episodes that the woman who said she was his mother admitted that she was paid to pretend to be his mother. His father was his biological father because he tracked John down knowing that they'd likely be a match for the kidney donation. However, he used this woman he paid to help with the deception. Is that what everyone else remembers? If so, then John and Ben could have the same mother, but they do not have the same father. I'm going to go back and find that episode to see if she was really his mother. I'll post when I find out! Oh, someone else posted about entertainment weekly's site. They have the best insights into the show I've ever seen. It's a must read!

dana michelle...check out the link, it tells @ the game on the show and there is a wiki link about the game itself
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 02:41 PM
i still don't know if anthony cooper is truly locke's dad...could have been a long con. just b/c the kidney was a match, doesn't mean they were father/son. i think cooper could have had access to some medical records and found a match, then conned him. then again, i could be wrong.
Posted by: Anonymous | May 9, 2008 02:43 PM
okay, i still think cooper might have been conning locke, but i no longer think ben's mom & locke's mom are the same emily.
check out this link about locke's mom..remember, she told locke he was immaculately conceived? and cooper didn't seem twice her age, how old would he be?

Does any 1 else find it odd HOW Rousseau & Karl were killed? Keamy & Co. have such diesel weapons, y would they resort 2 blow darts 4 people who r barely armed? I just find it hard 2 believe that people w/such weapons would resort 2 a more primitive choice of weapon. this leads me 2 believe that Rousseau & Karl were killed by someone OTHER than Keamy & Co., which brings me 2 Richard...
Ben sent Alex, Rousseau & Karl 2 the Temple, where Richard & the Others were. Before they make it, Rousseau & Karl r killed, and Alex is alone shouting about who she is. I think that Richard knew all along that Ben was not the chosen person 2 lead the island (someone posted that Ben was the "contingency plan," and I agree). Remember wen Locke first went w/Ben & the Others? Didn't Richard say "we've been waiting 4 u 4 a long time."? I think Richard was trying 2 replace Ben w/Locke (Ben tried 2 embarrass Locke w/the whole u need 2 kill u'r dad thing & prove that Locke wasn't as special as everyone thought). I think Richard (or a subordinate) elimated Rousseau & Karl b/c he knew the only way 2 throw Ben off his game is get @ his family (actual or kidnapped). This leaves Alex alone, unarmed, & vulnerable, making her easy prey 4 Keamy.
any thoughts?

Did anyone notice Horaces nose bleeding (time travel) and him chopping the same tree down over and over, kinda like the ghost hunters say is a residual haunting, the ghost does the same thing over and over in the same spot. And could Locke have been on the Island before what with his drawing of the smoke monster killing someone, or maybe he saw into the future like Desmond with his drawings of things to happen on the Swan hatch wall any thoughts love all the comments

as an aside re: richard and 8 year old locke and the items in the bag... about a year or two ago lindleoff said that the concept for richard was that he was kind of like the island's panchan lama...the guy who picks the new dalai lama/leader when he dies. one of the tests to see if a child may be an incarnation of the dalai lama? they lay out a bunch of assorted items on a blanket, and if the child picks the object that used to belong to the former dalai lama (the one that "already belongs to you"), they have their new leader. so i totally freaked over that scene.

ok, went back and watched the kidney donation episode and that was John's biological mother and father. So he and Ben do not share a parent. I don't know if the writers just threw the two Emilys in to send us in a talespin or if the name of Emily will have some significance in the future.

I can't believe anyone didnt mention this: How can Sayid get back to the island without the coordinates?
I agree with you Daniel, this ep was a solid A. I was rivited from beginning to end. Best scene ever: Hurley and Ben sharing what I assume is an Apollo bar.

mjn: Sorry, didn't mean to sound misleading about the ew site. It's just that someone mentioned they went to the site and found info, so instead of trying to sound goofy by saying "hey - I was the first one to suggest the site" I simply mentioned that someone else posted after me about finding interesting info on the site. I too love this site, it's the first one that I look at the day after an episode. The two site are actually very different. This one has Daniel's comedic comments and the posters are usually up to date and very intuitive. The ew review is always "deep" and usually comments on how things relate to previous info in episodes, as well as giving lots of info about the relevance of names, dates, book title, even quotes used on the show. I don't think the two sites are in competition with eachother because they are so different. Anyway, my original post about it was just to refer all the lost devotees to another great site with different types of info.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
Assuming that the elder version of John's mom WAS truly his mom, do we know for a FACT that (as stated by Barbara) Ben's mother truly died? I can't remember what happened after she gave birth and Lostpedia doesn't mention it in detail.
Anthony Cooper MUST be John's biological father because he was able to accept (i.e. not reject) John's kidney (you have to be match medically). For the writers to side-step that fact would be jumping the shark.
Why/how has John blocked out island related things from his past. He doesn't remember drawing the smoke monster and he doesn't remember the visit with Richard...seems odd.
This is waaay out there but could moving the island tie in with the 4-toed statue at all? If so, how (starting ideas: a big statue representing giants who could "move an island" or a big statue that was broken during an earthquake that would cause an island to actually be moved)?
Ben is really losing his mojo right now, but obviously he gets it back (as seen in the flash-forwards).
Why was there a ring of sand around the cabin when John saw it the first time but not now?
And last comment...I am SOOOO SICK of the Jack/Kate relationship. If they never mention it again, it will be too soon.

the captain gave sayid coordinates and they were off from the previous coordinates we have heard/seen from daniel, ladipus, ben...we have speculated on what the different coordinates mean.
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 03:21 PM
I heart Sayid: I agree that "the candy bar moment" was fantastic. Nothing had to be said, but yet so much was said! This episode was definitely one of the best of the season.
Posted by: girl239 | May 9, 2008 03:24 PM
monkeyface: I do not know anything about sailing, but wouldn't the coordinates be different coming from the island to the boat & going from the boat back to the island?
Posted by: girl239 | May 9, 2008 03:28 PM
girl...yes! i posted earlier that their could be different safe coordinates for different modes of transportation, but then why did ladipus' notes differ from daniels statement to him? the coordinates seem to be different all the time...lol, i think the writers are messing w/ us!
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 03:32 PM
Ruthie: You don't actually have to be related to someone in order to donate a kidney to them. While the odds of a good match are definitely greater with a close relative, a total stranger can be a good match too. Also, I'm pretty sure that just being a close relative does not necessarily ensure a good match.
The part that doesn't shake out to me is if Cooper is NOT Locke's real father, how would he have known that Locke would be a good match? Or was it just a total crap-shoot on his part? Someone else commented that he might have had access to medical records. I guess anything is possible with this show!
I still go with my earlier thought that Richard may be his real father. Someone pointed out the "immaculate conception" comment made by his supposed grown-up mother (Swoozie Kurtz). That just solidifies it even more for me. Since Richard doesn't seem to be truly human.

monkey thank u 4 the links
too cool more lost sites
Posted by: sawyersgrrl | May 9, 2008 03:38 PM
okay....check this out about the coordinates from lostpedia:
It is impossible for a bearing of 305 to go both from and to the Island, if going to the Island was 305 degrees, the bearing back would be 180 degrees less, making it a 125 degree 'back bearing'.
Not if the magnetic properties of the Island are powerful enough to have an effect on compasses; particularly if it had inverse-polarity properties.

I understand everyone's shock at Richard being in contact with John at different stages in his life, but I thought it was previously revealed that Richard never ages.
We first saw Richard when Ben was a boy and found Richard in the woods outside the Dharma Camp. Then we saw him again when they first gassed Dharma. Then again when he and Locke were talking on the hillside above the Others' camp. In addition, he recruited Juliette in (I think) Miami. He was portrayed as the same age in all those scenes, despite the fact that they would have been separated by approximately 20 years.
Posted by: Britton Mauk | May 9, 2008 04:02 PM
Didnt bens mother die at child birth, when she was having him? and wasnt The crazy woman who found john for his father so he could steal a kidney really his mom, just an older super crazy version? i dont think they can be brothers, if in fact that was his real mom. which i think i remember it was. Maybe.
Posted by: rachael | May 9, 2008 04:03 PM
hey you, it was also raining like hell when emily got hit by the car.
so, who was trying to prevent locke's birth?
Posted by: kristy kreem | May 9, 2008 04:08 PM
do we know how nadia was killed?
Posted by: kristy kreem | May 9, 2008 04:11 PM
Hey everyone! Some thoughts, in no particular order:
Other people have mentioned this--the compass that Richard showed to Locke (and that Locke picked) reminded me of Season 1, when he gave Sayid a compass off his vest. He mentioned something about being a Webelos scout (because Sayid was making a compass with a needle and water). The compass didn't work, which was one of the earliest signs that something electromagnetic was going on on the Island.
I'm sure this has been mentioned before, here and on other sites, but just want to remind everyone: Mittelos (the lab that John was being recruited to) is an anagram of "Lost time".
When I heard "We have to move the Island," the first thing I thought of (and, okay, shouted at the television) was: VORTICES!
Even if Ben and Locke have different mothers, them having the same name has to mean something. They don't do things by accident on this show.
Now, it's time for: Abaddon love!
Some questions: Who does he work for?
Did Widmore/Ben/someone else intentionally send at least Locke to the island? What's certain now is that someone knew the island was going to crash.
It's interesting that Ben was so against Naomi, since both were brought to the Island by Abaddon.
Quick note from last week (sorry): Claire's 'couple in Los Angeles'? Jack and Kate.
Kaitlyn tee previously explained this--the "Which items belong to you" is the way of discovering who the next Dalai Lama is in Tibet. Since the Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Buddhism, it follows that the person who correctly picks the objects in Richard's test would be the spiritual leader of the Island. Of course, I do think the objects had some meaning beyond the historical symbolism. Oh, and I wonder if Richard gave Ben the same test?
The "Leader of the Others" conversation was crazy creepy and very interesting.
Claire's back!
The whole scene in Jacob's cabin: fabulous.
If Christian had asked me what the important question was at that point, I'd be like "Who the hell is Jacob?" Duh!
Daniel, I agree with you--when LOST focusses on what's important, it's at its best.
LAN--Juliet's 'creepy smirk' was just the result of Elizabeth Mitchell's Botox, I think.
Monkeyface--I noticed Horace's nosebleed too. He's obviously still waiting for his constant. (Dream-constant?)
A great episode, overall. Daniel, I agree with you.

kk...i think it has yet to be shown exactly how nadia was murdered.
however...possible spoiler gossip....i read that a future ff features sayid & nadia attending a party post o6 return. i bet we will see more of the story in sayid's next FF, or present day, who knows? lol
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 04:17 PM
monkeyface ... yeah, for a minute there i was thinking nadia got hit by a car, then i realized i was just associating that with ben showing sayid the pic of widmore's guy driving just a couple of blocks from "where nadia was killed."
Posted by: kristy kreem | May 9, 2008 04:21 PM
beej...i thought horace goodspeed brought ben to the island..did you meant to write locke instead? cuz abaddon definitely planted the suggestion that locke should go on a walkabout...
what do you think he meant when he said locke would owe him?
when they finally meet, that will be a great epi
i totally agree w/ another post that said ben was just laying in wait, pretending to be okay w/ john taking over. i think he is still playing them all, after all, we see him off island later being all james bond
i wonder if he is off island for good, searching for it to. remember he taunted widmore by telling him that he wouldn't find the island. maybe ben can't find it, either
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 04:23 PM
kk. yeah, a lot of people have been hit by or died in vehicles on lost:
juliets ex by a bus
shannon's dad/boone's step-dad in car wreck
jack's ex was injured in car accident, he saved her spine
ben's dad died in the van
hurley killed lots of others and saved the day in the van
anthony cooper died (?) from a car accident on I-10 in tallahassee
are there more? interesting when you think about but i'm sure i'm thinking too much. lost does that to you
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 04:29 PM
Monkeyface--yeah!! I meant Locke. Thanks for clearing that up.
Posted by: Beej | May 9, 2008 04:34 PM
I'm really expecting Abaddon to show up on the Island, and I think he's going to be royally pissed at how things are turning out. He assembled the group of five for a reason, though, and we have yet to really see what that reason was.
Posted by: Beej | May 9, 2008 04:36 PM
monkeyface: Thanks for the backgammon/game link. There really are a LOT of different game references on this show, not just backgammon!
I skimmed over the wiki page and this jumped out at me. "The objective is to move all of one's own checkers past those of one's opponent and then remove them from the board." Similar to chess, which is also highlighted a lot of the time. Just like Jack is trying to move all his people past the island forces/Others/freighter mercenaries/etc. to remove them from the island.
Posted by: dana michelle | May 9, 2008 04:39 PM
could abaddon be a future manifestation of walt?
Posted by: kristy kreem | May 9, 2008 04:40 PM
For if Keamy really was that much taller than Sayid: the guy who plays Keamy is 6-6 3/4, and Sayid is 5-8, so, yeah it was real. Awsome. I loved this episode, it was great, but when is the big fight gonna start? Thats what I really want to see, I'm tired of it being the beginning of the end. It's been that for about four months. And my biggest question: How the crap are they gonna move a freaking island? I think Claire is dead, look at the way Miles was looking at her last week. But it all rocked, I've never seen her (Claire) having that much expression on her face, that smirk. Loved it all.
Posted by: unknown | May 9, 2008 04:45 PM
dana m...i know! i thought it was a big clue, remember when locke is teaching walt backgammon..and there are a lot of other games on the island, you're right. risk, golf, ping pong, cards, i think there are even more
this show has so many easter eggs and veered paths
kk..good question, one i hadn't even thought of, but that could make sense, especially if they are time jumping ala desmond. how could someone harness that power?
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 04:47 PM
Once again it took me hours just to read al the posts. Very good stuff guys....
So does anyone else think that the freighter is going to end up exploding? Remember the bomb that Michael has with him? When he tried to detonate the bomb, the message said "not yet". I think that time will come and I am thinking Desmond will still be on it when it happens. I will mourn that day if it happens, but I just had this awful feeling watching Sayid motor away without him.
I think that the O6 will get off with Sayids little boat and they will run into a big carrier and rescued via another ship than the freighter, Maybe Penny's ship???? This will make Desmonds fate even sadder...
I also think that the similarities with John and Ben are more surrounding their birth than who fathered them.
Both of them have mom's named Emily.
Lockes mom was hit by a car, John's mom was in a car when she was delivered.
Ben and Locke were both neglected by their fathers.
We actually don't know for sure that Ben's father was his real dad. His behavior towards yound Ben makes me think maybe he wasn't, so both would be abbandoned by their fathers if this is really the case.
Their may be more....
If Abaddon was recruiting Locke for the island and Richard was recruiting Locke for the island, then are they really on the same team, or are they working against each other?
Posted by: teresalynn | May 9, 2008 04:48 PM
I wrote last week about what I read on EW site about the Alice in Wonderland connection and that I put myself on the EW email list...Doc Jensen has interesting insights, but I HEART DANIEL! Cabin Fever is the second best ep this season. I can't give it an A++ (because there was no Sawyer), but a solid A nonetheless. We got some answers, but lots more questions.
Gotta love Mr. Guyliner (bachelor #13, mf?) I got so excited when I saw him looking at baby John (and so glad Cane was cancelled). I thought he was baby daddy at first, but realize he's a recruiter/oracle (and it supports my Super Baby theory) after reading here. Could Alpert/Abbadon be Shape Shifters and appear as each other as need be? I also agree that Richard wanted John to pick the comic book (though a bit too much like Heroes) something to the comic book...what was the one Michael (Mr. Indestructible--that was an intense scene) gave WAAAALLLLLT? I think Richard may be an original inhabitant (4-toed statue folk)of the island and immortal (Shangri La). Are we all forgetting that a few short weeks ago in Shape of Things to Come we were convinced that Ben and Widmore were brothers? Could Widmore be Ben and Locke's father? He could be old enough and he did call Ben "Boy". There's always Jacob. I also picked up on the Portland (Porthole?) connection when watching. There's definitely something to the two Emilies. These different fragments of time are not chronological and could they possibly be reoccurring with different outcomes? Could the souls on the island keep being reborn in different "whens" (ala Stephen King)? Richard seemed really ticked that Locke picked that knife. Someone asked about the science project, they didn't show it, the guidance counselor mentioned it was about an Island. Sarah B your man Christian looked very different last night no? He looked all blow dried dressed casually, no suit or white sneakers but denim shirt and work boots, I thought that was interesting. Why the wardrobe change now? And, Pet Semetary Claire? Really strange, not the whiney chick we've grown to love/hate. Can't wait to see how it plays out. Boy I rambled on..Just a bit more...
suze, I'm praying for Keamy to die, die, die! Stay strong. My hub went through a stem cell replacement procedure last summer it was tough going, but is doing great now, keep the faith. Katie your quote from the real Locke was very interesting.
BTW - Daniel did HS Yearbook Richard ever tell you which quote he used? I'd love to know. "Destiny is a fickle bitch" would have been a great one, though probably would be banned.
Someone pass me a malomar...

I could not wait to get home to re-watch this-and again-blown away!!! For me, this was the "very best" ever!! And, I have way more ?'s then can ever be answered, and don't even know where to start! The one thing that stood out the second time around viewing, Ben looked actually "scared" when they got to the cabin..what's up w/that-(I don't think I have ever seen him look scared about anything) does he now realize that he was NOT the choosen one, (tumor-and daughter's blood on his hands),or just pissed that he is not in charge? how did he really get put in charge to begin w/? Did-guyliner Richard make a mistake, in thinking he was special..and now all this is playing out??? Oh-And I am so pissssed they killed the captain, he was HOT!!! and then that brings in the question, as the note -not to trust him-yet, he got Sayid the boat. I'm a little disapointed in Des-not going back to help, yet can understand..but is'nt he in danger on the boat too? or is Keamy (bad MF) the only threat to everyone?? Wow-for me-I'm way more Lost then usual, and I love it!!!! SideNote: Congrats Sarh Badara on finishing ur finals-I hope your out parting tonight!!!
Posted by: Tootsie1 | May 9, 2008 04:53 PM
Actually I take part of my last comment back. The object of backgammon is really nothing like chess, now that I think of it. I haven't played chess since my teens either!
Posted by: dana michelle | May 9, 2008 04:53 PM
omg..teresalynn. you raise such good points!
abaddon v. richard, knife vs. book of law (the item i think richard wanted locke to pick) they very well could be working against each other. i notice a lot of opposites/black and white on lost. this could be another example, kinda star war-ish.
ben's dad NOT being ben's dad...that could make sense. i always thought roger just blamed ben for emily's death, but if he wasn't his biological dad, maybe another immaculate conception, like locke's mom claimed?
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 04:57 PM
i wanna know what happened to walt.
Posted by: kristy kreem | May 9, 2008 05:03 PM
lost lover: Your HS Richard comment was so hysterical I literally laughed out loud! "Destiny is a fickle bitch" would SO totally be a great yearbook quote!
HS Richard, where are you? What DID you choose for your quote?
Posted by: dana michelle | May 9, 2008 05:04 PM
lostlvr...mr guyliner...lmao! i've been thinking of richard as manliner
lol
pet semetary claire...i'm on the floor now! too funny
i think ben is still playing everyone, including the island. i think he is in it now only for himself, wanting revenge for losing alex and the island
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 05:04 PM
Beej - great call on Mittelos. I yelled at Vortices at the TV too.kristy kreme,Abbadon= Future Walt -that would be cool!
Posted by: Lost Lover | May 9, 2008 05:05 PM
And, Locke's grandmother asked the nurse about adoption when he was in the hospital, so it could be the same mother. Just saying.
Posted by: unknown | May 9, 2008 05:06 PM
also, just because lostpedia lists certain info, it doesn't mean that info will turn out to be correct in the end. i mean, they're not posting spoilers, right? just like imdb's not posting cast members beyond right now. it wouldn't surprise me at all if swoozie ends up not being locke's bio mom.
the island seems to have used anthony cooper as a henchman to steer certain characters into lives of pain and turmoil that ripen them for the island. swoozie could be anybody.
Posted by: kristy kreem | May 9, 2008 05:09 PM
MF- I got goosebumps when I realized that Abaddon was the reason Locke went to Australia, thus ended up on 815 and eventually the island. When Locke wouldn't choose to go to the island, the island just brought him there anyway. Someone mentioned Adaddon and Richard could be shape shifters, that's an interesting idea for me. I'm not absolutely positive who is on what team. Richard was definately getting impatient with Ben the last few times we saw them together. Let's not forget that the vision of Ben's dead mom, lead him to the jungle and Richard. It was Richard who really recruited Ben to work with the hostiles and against the DI. (I loved Horace's reference to the DI).
Maybe Abaddon and others are still aligned with Widmore. Widmore has been on the island and it wouldn't be far fetched to think he knows most of the original Hostiles and the DI. Then there is another group, Jacob and Richard who are part of a rival island group. Maybe, Richard is in the process of supporting Widmore??? I don't know.....I think Ben is caught in the middle and is trying to figure out how to take advantage of all the fighting and get the upper hand.
There is definately more to this, I just can't wrap my mind around all of it. ;)
Posted by: teresalynn | May 9, 2008 05:10 PM
unknown..i thought so, too, but different actresses portrayed the characters and the show is usually so good about that...however, they could always use the whole age difference thing.
some interesting stuff I found about emily on lostpedia:
Carrie Preston, who portrays Ben's mother Emily, is the wife of Michael Emerson, who portrays Ben.
A painting of a woman who looks similar to Emily is briefly seen in Roger's and young Ben's barrack. In the painting she's holding a rodent-like creature that may be a hamster. ("The Man Behind the Curtain")
Later, when Ben has grown up, the same painting is seen hanging in his living room. ("The Man from Tallahassee")
The name "Emily" derives from the Latin for "industrious, striving".
Emily is also the name of Locke's mother.
Emily Gale is the wife of Henry Gale in the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. When Ben was first imprisoned by the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815, he called himself "Henry Gale".
Emily is the second deceased character that died off the Island and has appeared alive on The Island (the other being Christian Shephard).
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 05:12 PM
creepy claire was awesome!! but is she dead or just following her dead dad around? she had a bandaid on her head, why would a dead person where a bandaid? did christian know jacob when he was alive? so did the plane crash to keep claire from getting to america and going against the psychic's advice? or was it because they wanted locke? or jack to do surgery on ben? and on and on...and if it was for all of these reasons, what kind of power and reach does it take to put all of these things to action at a specific time to get all of these people on a specific flight????
lost hurts my head, and i friggin love this show!!
Posted by: Lisa | May 9, 2008 05:12 PM
Thanks guys, can you tell I'm a big Stephen King fan? His characters are all intertwined too. EW email yesterday had a quote from Pet Semetary (which made me think of Claire watching last night) "Sometimes dead is better." Which made me Google Stephen King Lost connection and I found some cool stuff. Now I know what I'll be doing to occupy myself between May 30 and January. Reading King, Alice in Wonderland, Book of Laws etc.
Posted by: Lost Lover | May 9, 2008 05:19 PM
lostlvr...do you have a link to the stephen king site?
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 05:22 PM
If ther island can cure Rose's cancer and heal Lockes legs, does it really need to bring Jack the doctor to the island to cure Ben's spinal tumor??? Rose was right on when she called it in the last episode and was questioning why Jack needed surgery when he was on an island the heals???? Doesn't make any sense to me..
And if the island really wanted Aaron that badly then why oh why didn't it take him when it took Claire? Unless it was the other "team" that got a hold of Claire, the one who doesn't want Aaron to stay on the island...
Posted by: teresalynn | May 9, 2008 05:23 PM
teresa lyne, imo, the real reason the plane crashed was to deliver locke to the island, not jack
i think of the black/white theme...aaron, who wants him? Christian states he is where he should be and that's not here.
maybe abaddon/richard are working against each other. if christian is jabobs voice, then which works for the island/jacob, richard or abaddon? aaron will succeed locke or take his place? and what about walt? were the others just studying him, like they wanted to do to lil locke?
Posted by: sawyersgrrl | May 9, 2008 05:28 PM
yes, sawyergrl, jack was a happy coincidence for ben
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 05:30 PM
I don't know, maybe it's just my thing for bad boys, but does anyone else think that even though Keamy sucks, he's kinda hot? I dunno.
Posted by: &*(_) | May 9, 2008 05:31 PM
hate to admit it, but yeah, keamy is hot. but he is such a son of a be-atch, that it doesn't matter.
i won't care when he dies...i hope sawyer get's to do it
with his shirt off, or better yet, with both of their shirts off
Posted by: sawyersgrrl | May 9, 2008 05:34 PM
you guys are my kind of people...both of their shirts off, YUM
keamy has to die and it better be good. i wonder if sayid gets to track him down or if it happens on the island?
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 05:36 PM
Yes Sawyergrl I agree with you, I was responding to Lisa's question above about why the plane crashed... A lot of people thought Jack was sent to the island to heal Ben, but I think that was just a happy coincidence for him like MF just said. If the island can heal one person it just kind of make sense it could heal anyone, at least anyone it wants to heal....
That is exactly the question I'm struggling with too, who are the good guys and who are the ones that are against the island. It seems like someone has to be corrupt..but who??
NO, NO, NO... I do not think Keamy is hot. Sorry ;)
Posted by: teresalynn | May 9, 2008 05:41 PM
Well, I just rewatched "Meet Kevin Johnson" and it proved me wrong...Rousseau & Karl were NOT done in by blow darts. Damn...I was really hoping Richard had something 2 do w/it...oh well, back 2 the drawing board...

Monkeyface,Hope you enjoy. First read this one, http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/73304/lost_the_stephen_king_connection.html the link to the site on pg 4 that mentions Laura didn't work for me, but I dug around and found this. http://www.lostcasts.com/2005/12/stephen_king_an.html also couldn't get to the "new site" www.doorway815.com she talks about. sorry took awhile to find the text I read.
Posted by: Lost Lover | May 9, 2008 05:44 PM
Wow, girls, I was afraid to admit that-but Keamy takes "Bad Boy" to the extreme!!!! There is something there about his attitude that, he will get what he wants-when he wants it-Of course in reality-he sucks!!! But still!!!!!!!
Posted by: Tootsie1 | May 9, 2008 05:46 PM
OMG, Fantasizing over Keamy is like flirting with the devil...it's just wrong girls ;)
Posted by: teresalynn | May 9, 2008 05:47 PM
keamy is hot in that bad boy, stay away, he is toooo hot to handle kinda way. steamy, if you know what i mean...but the sex appeal of the actor doesn't make the character any more likable
tl...maybe the ones that sick on island are the ones the island CAN'T control???
think about it
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 05:48 PM
keamy's totally hott, even though he has no upper lip (he has one of those rosie o'donnell mouths that looks like it's been cut out with a cookie-cutter). but from the neck down ... aieee! gimme dat!
Posted by: kristy kreem | May 9, 2008 05:48 PM
should have written, the ones who get sick on the island...
sorry. sick at home w/ stomach thingee...ugh.

Yes, take away his face, and give him an actual soul and maybe Keamy could be hot...On second thought,,,no nevermind...
Posted by: teresalynn | May 9, 2008 05:51 PM
If you guys like Keamy, Watch Smokin Aces. It's very bloody/gory, he's in it. So are Ben and Casey Affleck, Alicia Keys and Jeremy Piven(?) Keamy looks much better now.

Steamy Keamy? LOL! mf, I think you need to go to the island to be healed.
Posted by: Lost Lover | May 9, 2008 05:53 PM
Yes MF, that would make sense I guess. I'm trying to think of anyone else that has been miraculously cured after being injured or becoming sick on the island...Naomi was walking around quite nicely after being speared with a tree limb. I thought her healing process was 10 times faster than normal.
Posted by: teresalynn | May 9, 2008 05:54 PM
Monkeyface-eat some crakers-it always helps Kate!!!!
Posted by: Tootsie1 | May 9, 2008 05:54 PM
What about Locke teresalynn? he got shot and was in the Dharma ditch and "bigger" Walt got him out.
Posted by: Lost Lover | May 9, 2008 05:55 PM
Way, way back in the comments, someone made mention of the device that was being strapped on Keamy's arm. When Lapidus & Michael saw them putting it on, the other guy sneered at them and slammed the door shut. Then, the captain said something to the effect of "What the hell have you got on your arm?", shortly before Keamy killed him.
Anyone have any ideas what it is/what he's going to do with it?

Tootsie-LOL-CRACKERS!!! Still think it was weird for Kate to say that! I've been up since about 4:30 am and its almost 10p here. Gonna hit the sheets. don't have too much fun with out me. Namaste!

steamy keamy..lol
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 06:02 PM
Yes, maybe a device to make the freighter explode if anything happens to Keamy. That way no one will kill him if they think their chances to get off the island will die with Keamy. Sawyer will probably kill him anyway.
Posted by: teresalynn | May 9, 2008 06:02 PM
OK. Since this show follows "Grey's":
First we had McDreamy, then McSteamy, and now, apparently (to some of you) McKeamy!!
Although I am incapable of seeing the sexy in anyone that is THAT evil.

leelo@2:04pm - Ben?? It's just you! Though his face is healing some and he doesn't look hedious anymore.
The episode was a solid A. It would have been better to me if there hadn't been so many super long commercial breaks.

okay, thanks for that link sawyersgirl
some thoughts:
claire is jacks half sister
claire and aaron are important off/on island
locke and ben could be half brothers?
jacob is christian is jacob
richard v. abaddon are they fighting jacob for control of the island, widmore vs DI vs the island?
maybe I need to eat some crackers....
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 06:09 PM
dana...mcKeamy. LOL

I'm sorry - I just can't read anymore right now! My eyes are hurting!...I will go back and finish though.
I am catching great comments here and there...one I just can't let go:
Tootsie mentioned mf should eat crackers...
monkeyface: WHY are you eating crackers...is there some good news you want to share with the rest of the class? :)
Posted by: kat | May 9, 2008 06:12 PM
OH!!...there's the cracker comment again....
monkey :)

kat, where have you been? glad to see you pop up.
the only good news is i'm in bed and not in the bathroom. stomach virus, nothing more
=)

Maybe the island only heals the people it needs....The island needed Ben until Locke aka "the chosen one" showed up. Jack happened to be on the same flight as his father's body. The island needs Christian's body, but not Jack. Thoughts?

maybe that was tmi
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 06:14 PM
hey monkeyface - I've been tied up today. Not tmi at all! Hope you feel better! Since you're in bed you can just set yourself up with a nice blanket & re-watch LOST. That's what my honey & I are doing tonight! After our magical island baby is in dreamland, we're re-watching! :)
So much to see again!

Outstanding episode - very mythological and exciting and entertaining. I absolutely positively believe that every episode with minimal-to-no Jack and/or Kate is vastly superior to those that focus on Jack and/or Kate. How is it that the producers/viewing public does not pick up on this.
Posted by: Friend Mouse | May 9, 2008 06:29 PM
Oh I thought maybe MF had a bun in the oven....
Hope you're feeling better.
Posted by: teresalynn | May 9, 2008 06:32 PM
Well, Jack and Kate is a matter of preference, I think. I don't think it's like EVERYONE can't stand them together. I think just as many people like together as don't. I love the thought that we don't know who Kate will end up with. If I were her I'd definitely be playing both sides of that fence!! They are hella-sexy!!

I've been going back and forth from here, reading Doc Jensen's recap, and something occurred to me. He mentioned Horace's nosebleed and a possible time-travel connection.
When the Purge happened, didn't everyone start bleeding out from the gas? I seem to recall Ben's father spurting blood and keeling over. Or am I remembering that wrong? Help me, LOST experts! Maybe Horace's nose is bleeding because he's stuck in the moment that the Purge started?

however, crackers DO make my stomach feel better, just like kate.

hey guys - sarah badara just popped into my head: she's should be smack in the middle of the french quarters right about now!
Hope she ties one on for the GREAT episode this week. If you get drunk enough, you start drinking to EVERYTHING! :)
Also - I have a question I have never seen asked: WHERE's THE WEED? You know, the herb, the ganja, the kush? Where is it?
This is a lush tropical island & no one has discovered the giant weed patch yet? I'm just askin'! With all that trecking they do through the jungle?
Richard is probably in charge of that stash! :)
Posted by: kat | May 9, 2008 06:35 PM
kat...that was locke's old job, keeper of the weed. he was a "jack" of all trades, ya know
richard stays young w/ clean living...his body is a temple (i'll say!)
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 06:38 PM
'i'll say!' - your funny!
you're probably right! hahahahahaha!
Posted by: kat | May 9, 2008 06:40 PM
I wonder if John hit the pipe every once in a while. I'm almost positive he did! :)
He's probably keeping his third eye out for the patch!
Posted by: kat | May 9, 2008 06:42 PM
How come all the men on the show are sooooo damn sexy? Even girlfriend up top claiming she's getting hot for Ben! Too funny. I friggin LOVE BEN!! He is the most incredible character. I think he's still "exactly where he needs to be" as well. So many of you give up on him so quickly! He's getting soft? Stepping back for Locke? I don't think so friends... Ben is the master manipulator remember? Alex has even warned that he is. He kicks some crazy ass in the future with his time traveling and all... you think that Jacob's discarding him? He was 'ready' at a younger age than John. It seems like John may not even be ready yet, or just barely... and the Island DID have to bring him there, even though he had prior opportunities to get there. Ben seems to be following Jacob's rules, otherwise I'm sure he would've been long gone by now. There's more to this than meets the eye.
Posted by: LOST in your Eyeland | May 9, 2008 06:48 PM
well, maybe the map locke got off horace aka stoner goodspeed offers more than just the location of the cabin.
the ash or salt ring around the cabin deters the animals on the island from eating the stash.
hurley and ben shared a chocolate bar, munchies?
who knows what locke did/ate in the cabin...brownies, anyone? the dead love them...and we all know that locke likes to trip...remember the sweat box?
Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 06:53 PM
A couple of others have posted - and I agree - that it seemed that little John knew he was picking the wrong item when he grabbed the knife. He's been fighting his destiny his entire life. And that's why Richard was so P.O.'d - he knew little John did it on purpose.
Also - I like the idea of Widmore as poppa to John and Ben. Does anyone know/remember what has ever been said about Penny's mother? Is she dead, they're divorced . . . ? I can't remember.
A few weeks back someone mentioned Jacob and Esau and the biblical parallels in reference to Ben and Widmore possibly being brothers - but the same parallel works better if Locke and Ben are brothers. The younger brother (Ben) stole the older brother's (Locke's) birthright when the older brother made bad decisions/denied his destiny.
Not sure what lawnmower man hopes to achieve with dropping the sat phone to Jack. Why would he assume that Jack/etc, would know that he needed rescued? Is he counting on Sawyer the Valiant to fill them in when he gets to the beach? When I saw l.m.m. wrapping the phone up, I thought he might be planning to deliberately take wrong coordinates and then bail out with some survival gear and let Keamy and co. crash and/or succumb to death via time-travel-without-a-constant. But I was wrong.
Posted by: peppermintgomez | May 9, 2008 06:57 PM
yes, he made that 'paste in a bowl' that made Boone trip as well.
Lost in your Eyeland - If Abbadon hadn't suggested to Locke to go on a Walkabout, do you think somehow he would have still ended up on the island?--what reason would he have, being in a wheelchair, to take a flight anywhere? He had no one anywhere but right where he was. Why would he travel if it wasn't for Abbadon's words eating at him?
Abbadon brought John to the island. Maybe Abbadon is working for the island, he's probably on the island's payroll :)

Posted by: monkeyface | May 9, 2008 07:08 PM
That's right, John use to work for the hippies that were growing weed, plus the stuff he was taking in the sweat box. It could all be a heroin flash back...
So if Ben can time travel it stands to reason that Richard and Mr Friendly can time travel too. Someone probably already mentioned this, so sorry if it's a double post, but Richard can probably age it's just that he has traveled back in time or maybe into the future or both. So what we see is Ben and Richard time traveling.
Horace looks like a total stoner..

the show creators have always said that names have meaning and are picked intentionally. so, the fact that ben and locke both have mom's named emily, there has to be some connection.
I also found on wikipedia regarding Abbadon - In Biblical references (Job 26:6; Proverbs 15:11), it comes to mean "place of destruction", or the realm of the dead, and is associated with Sheol. By extension, it can mean an underworld abode of lost souls, or hell. In some legends, it is identified as a realm where the damned lie in fire and snow, one of the places in Hell that Moses visited. [2]
I think he is bad too.
Posted by: what's in a name | May 9, 2008 07:18 PM
Hey-what's in a name-I challenge you to find out the meaning of "Richard"-mostly cause I'm too lazy to do it myself-but what I'm getting @ is.. Abbadon & Richard seem to be the real "key" players as far as the island goes, and not to offend anyone-but the black & white thing? Good vs evil thing? There has to be something-between these two players, that we're not catching!! I'm in the midwest too-so I;m done for the night!! Catch y'all tommorrorow-LUV this site and LOST (still the best ep-ever)
Posted by: Tootsie1 | May 9, 2008 07:38 PM
This is an observation: In Ben's living room hangs a portrait of his mother holding a hamster (rat). When Ben sneaks into Widmore's room he refers to him as a rat, and Michael Jackson once had a hit song "Ben", which I think was about a mouse. What's up with that?
Posted by: Ren | May 9, 2008 07:44 PM
tootsie 1 - my only guess is that the real Dr. Richard Alpert is a 1960's harvard psychology professor (known for LSD experiments with Timothy Leary) who after a trip to India, became known as Baba Ram Dass, which means "servant of god". He also started the Hanuman Foundation. (similar to Hanso Foundation?)
But I really have no idea. Everyone on this site gets connections much quicker than I do and that's why I love reading it. :)
Posted by: what's in a name | May 9, 2008 09:07 PM
just watched Cabin Fever again - ALL LOST episodes are great. But I have to say this may be the best episode so far.
Ren - the animal that Emily (Ben's mother) is holding is a baby rabbit.
Which ties in with the numbered rabbits.
Namaste & good night!

What about when Keamy opened the safe and the back up plan had a big ol Dharma Initive Logo on the Front? Does that mean Whidmore is part of Dhama Inititive. That could be the reason Whidmore told Ben the Island was his first??????????????
Posted by: Sarah | May 9, 2008 09:36 PM
first: I have not yet read any of the above comments yet. second: I have never posted to this message board before. third: I love reading Daniel's comments every Friday AM regarding Lost. Daniel has got it going on. fourth: the fact that Claire was so cavalier about Aaron's wellbeing was really creepy, after all he can only be like 3-4 months old, I assume he is being breast fed so if Claire is gone how is Aaron eating? Do the Dharma food drops include baby formula? Can Sawyer induce breast milk? fifth and most important: maybe not this particular message board but Lost fans in general have demanded of TPTB that they have an end to the story. That they wrap up all of the loose ends. Fans have insisted that TPTB not end the series on a "it was all Jack's dream" or a "purgatory" scenario. TPTB's promise to answer all of the questions has changed the game. First off, they had to announce an end date to the series. If they have to resolve everything, they can't have the show go on indefinitely. And second, they have to start answering questions while not posing as many new ones. So yes this season is very different to the previous ones. It is maybe not as fascinating, or addictive. It is more revealing than mystifying. It is more factual than dreamy. But TPTB are only following the requests of the masses. Bringing the story to an end will never be as intriguing as keeping it going. So, A, be careful what you ask for. And B, be grateful for what you receive, because as far as I am concerned, every episode of Lost is wonderful, and eventually it will be gone forever. Some episodes are more gratifying and exciting than others but I treasure every one because soon there will be no more.

John's mom on the show is not the same actress that plays Ben's mom. No way. I think the items were truly John's when John was last on the island (in the future). The knife was not his and he knew it. He just wanted the knife. Richard knew he purposely picked the wrong one.

You're off this week Daniel. I thought you were above 'fat' comments. Usually you are very clever and funny. Anyway, I loved this week's show. Much better than last week. Last week I was actually bored watching the show...something I never thought I would say!
Posted by: Kitty | May 9, 2008 10:59 PM
Hey Kaylee, are you from Edmonton?
Guys, the picture of Emily has had a couple versions so far. I believe you can see screenshots at lostisagame.com ... I'l check for the link.... ok this is what it says, and the links are to the pics.
"The picture of Ben's mother has changed from a younger woman with hair down over her left shoulder, to the version of the picture seen in S4E7 where she is an older woman with no hair over her left shoulder. The older version of the picture is also seen in S4E9."

http://www.lostisagame.com/photos/409/picture_emily.jpg
I find this veeerrryyyyyy interesting. Indeed.
To Kat, "If Abbadon hadn't suggested to Locke to go on a Walkabout, do you think somehow he would have still ended up on the island?"
I think Abbadon and Richard may be playing opposite sides. Since Richard has been attempting to recruit Locke since he was young, and it didn't work, then Abbadon is going to score some points for being the one to get him there. He's definitely making Locke pay up when they meet again. I think that there is something about the island that prevents them from procreating. Some of the inhabitants have supernatural powers... there's a good chance that there are a lot more relatives on that island than it may seem. What if they have to impregnate women and then if their children possess some of the right conditions, they find a way to bring them to the island. It's something to do with a game or at least a 'place' or 'time' that requires rules to be followed between some of these higher up key players, we just don't know how the heck they are all connected. Claire seems to have jumped into the role of 'higher up' real quickly, and clearly Jack and Hurley play a huge role.
It's so hard to piece together, it's like having a word on the tip of your tongue - you feel like if you just had a Little more info, you'd get it. I think we are going to spend the majority of Season 5 on the O6 off the Island. Who knows, we may not even get to know anything until Season 6 about the Losties still on the island. (I hope not!!)
Regarding this talk I heard about reincarnation... maybe it's some form of that where since they (Jack, Locke, Ben, Claire, Aaron, etc) are descendants - possibly - of these people powerful enough to move an island(!) that they would have some special knowledge or something passed down to them waiting to be awakened.
This show is a trip, and all this talk about Locke being a pothead is making me want to go smoke myself straight about all this LOST stuff!! Craziness!!
Posted by: LOST in your Eyeland | May 9, 2008 11:05 PM
I can't get through all the comments, my head is spinning. Just watched the episode as I have been out of town... WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!
But here, I have a question: Locke has talked with Richard on the island... remember that Richard handed Locke Sawyer's 'file' and told Locke to get Sawyer to kill his father (which he did). Why didn't Locke recognize Richard? Granted, he visited Locke as a child, but he hasn't changed one bit! I would have thought that Locke would have recognized him.
A few more things: young Emily's Mom referred to the man she was dating as 'twice her age'... I assume that means Richard, right? Emily's Mom looked positively freaked out when she noticed Richard looking through the window at the baby in the incubator!
I assume Emily is also Ben's mother and she later gives birth to Ben, and Horace Godspeed is there to bring them all to Dharma. Ben and John are half brothers, and the one thing they have in common is their mother (who also looks strangely like Claire).
Emily got hit by a car and gave birth to a preemie at 6 months of gestation, which also follows the timeline of mothers on the island that lose their babies at that time (entering their 3rd trimester). Could the installation of John into the position of leadership of the island cure the 'baby' problem?
The next special leader of the island is obviously Aaron, and the psychic told Claire that she had to raise him so the cycle that happened to John didn't happen to Aaron (adoption and not being Chosen).
I know I'm all over the place here but this is what I think: if Emily looked like Claire, somehow we have to link them together, as I think they are the 'Island Royalty', I think that whole group (possibly everyone?) is related somehow... Claire looks like Emily (but we can't link them yet), Emily gives birth to John, Emily later gives birth to Ben... Claire is Christian Shephard's daughter, and Jack's half sister (again a half-sibling connection that is still unknown), and Aaron is Jack's nephew.
Also, when Christian tells John to move the island, I instantly thought of the FF of Jack pouring over the maps and the lat/long lines to find the island, flying every weekend but never getting back. Its moved. The only way could be by the vortice theory or something like the consciousness shift we saw in The Constant.
Notice how Horace Godspeed turned to Locke and suddenly had blood coming out of his nose, just like Desmond and Eloise when they traveled through time?
Posted by: LIT | May 10, 2008 05:32 AM
I always thought the con man that was supposedly John's Dad, really wasn't. I always thought he just conned him out of a kidney because they had the same blood type, not b/c they were really related.
AND, the ConMan always looked too similar in age to John to be his real father...
Posted by: Anonymous | May 10, 2008 05:37 AM
I was just refreshing myself on Locke in Lostpedia, because you all were talking about his pot connection (which I had completely forgotten) and I came across this:
"When the group buries Eko, Locke looks at Eko's stick and takes special note of one particular bit of scripture carved on it: "Lift up your eyes and look north. John 3:05." Locke takes this as a message to himself and determines to go north on a bearing of 305 degrees."
Then I remembered that last night someone referenced those numbers. I looked back and found that kat wrote: "The coordinates Sayid was given was 3.0.5. we have seen this before."
Long ago, we all figured out that that Bible passage is not from John 3:05, and that Eko was directing John to go somewhere.
There's definitely something going on with all these changing coordinate/bearing/degree references.

"What if they have to impregnate women and then if their children possess some of the right conditions, they find a way to bring them to the island". Hey LOST in you Eyeland, by the way great name, that is definitely something to consider.
Posted by: Me Too | May 10, 2008 05:53 AM
I just answered a few of my own questions by rewatching "The Man Behind the Curtain".
The Purge was on Ben's birthday, although he was a lot older than I remembered. The Purge occurring in 1992 seems more reasonable to me now.
Ben's father did start bleeding from his nose when he gassed him, and when Ben went back to the Dharma "neighborhood" all of the bodies had blood coming from their noses. Horace was found on a bench in a yard, so he wasn't cutting the tree down when he died. However, he also had blood running out of his nose.
Ben's mother really didn't look all that much like John's mother, so I don't think she is the same Emily.
It sure is cool to be able to watch all the old eps online. I've got to start doing more of that to jog muy memory!
Posted by: dana michelle | May 10, 2008 07:29 AM
Make that "my" memory. "My" memory is anything BUT "muy" lately! ;^}
Posted by: dana michelle | May 10, 2008 07:32 AM
What an episode! Especially with the cabin. When Locke was told to move the island, what if it meant not physically, but in a matter of time? What if the island is ahead somehow? Not like a time change, but more of a magnetic field-type thing. Remember when the Doc washed ashore and the people on the freighter denied it and said he was still on the freighter alive and well? Then Keamy slit his throat and threw him in the water afterwards. What if it's Locke's job to move the island like I said so people wouldn't have to use Faraday's bearing to get there? It would make sense. That way, Locke could supposedly get everyone off the island safety and quickly. But, that would mean other people could also reach the island. Charles Widmore, for example. Nobody wants that. We'll have to see how Locke takes this little tibit of information. Also, what if the plane found in the ocean wasn't a hoax? What if it goes back to the whole time and space continuim, magnetic feild thing? It's all about time travel.

LOVE this site - I agree though Daniel is a bit off this week. Watching by himself too much? It's so much better to watch with other losties. This was one of those OMF WTF episodes for me, but I have to watch it again. Both of my kids were in a car accident wednesday - luckily they're just sore and bruised but car was totalled - SO my brain is fried!!
This is the first site I go to. So many great ideas. Almot jumped out of my seat when they showed Richard as Emily's older man. This really makes you think he's John's dad. My favorite part was sweet Hurley quietly sharing half his Apollo bar with evil ol Ben. Like lifesavers ad. Lol! Loved it! And the Malomar comment too. Seems like good one liners are more scarce without Sawyer.
I agree John - picked wrong when Richard came to see him. He knew which to pick but doesn't like being told what to do. Maybe he knew he wasn't ready to go w/ him.
KK - I thought that Nadia got hit by a car. Seems like a good way to get rid of someone in a big city without raising suspicion.
Claire was SO creepy. I think she's dead but "island" kept her going so as not to raise questions and get everyone (aaron, Hurley, etc.) where they're supposed to be. We've seen that sometimes the dead aren't really dead - like Christian. Remember Miles was watching her and offering to carry the baby. Maybe he sensed something and was concerned about Aaron.
And John has deffinitely been into to good stuff. He knew about all those plants and made the paste in the tent so he could see Boone. Man knows his "stuff."
LOVE THIS SEASON! I'm mad at my best friend because she's missed the past 3 episodes and I have no one to discuss with! (My son and husband think I'm obsessed. Duh!) Thanks for humoring my rant, guys!
Posted by: Duffy | May 10, 2008 08:04 AM
I didn't realize that the portrait of Locke's mother has been changing. This isn't the first time they have done this. When Miles went upstairs to do his ghostbusting thing in LA, the pictures on the wall were different when he came down the stairs. Then there is the different eye colors of some of the actors. Someone mentioned Lockes eye color changed in the cabin and I know it's happened before.
Freaky stuff....what does it mean???? More course correcting?
Posted by: teresalynn | May 10, 2008 08:14 AM
the episode was fine - some WTF moments are the best thing - but i felt a strong sense of something missing - and I guess it's because i missed seeing kate and jack much -but yeah we needed this development

glad your kids are OK Duffy. Thank God for seatbelts and car seats! I'd say maybe you have a guardian angel too!
Kiss them and hold them real tight. Nothing else really matters if your kids are OK.

What if Richard and Christan are brothers.Richard and Christan are sons of Jacob.
Posted by: lost fan | May 10, 2008 08:38 AM
Just a thought - may have been said already.
The other way off the island: In a prior episode Ben references "a box" that can bring you anything you want. Shortly after Locke's con-man dad is on the island. Another episode shows Ben waking up in the middle of the Sahara (same spot they found the polar bear-Darmha collar?) That was just after Ben went into his bat cave/secret room. We all know time jumping/shifting W/E is a factor in the show.
Maybe the bat-cave is "the box" which allows time travel - but you can only "land" in one spot - the desert (where a permanent room in a local hotel is waiting). Ben sees the assult team comming - goes back in time to fix a few things (and threaten Widmore's daughter) and then pops back with no lost time on the island. Perhaps his actions called the smoke monster (destiny's agent?). This would offer another way off the island, a method for gathering all the intelligence Ben seems to have at his disposal, and a way to procure money (the ghost-whisper's blackmail money?).
Posted by: Rob | May 10, 2008 08:44 AM
the pictures changing and the eye colors changing would be because, as the past is slightly altered, the present changes.
Pictures changing aren't a big deal, but eye color? That might be parenting changes!
That would also explain scars dissapearing.
I have said before, the newest picture of Ben's mom in his livingroom looks just like Claire.
And Claire's babydaddy looks just like a young Ben.
Maybe the whole show is one big time loop. And everybody is related somehow to everybody else. No wonder the island women can't have babies. They are all related to their babydaddies.
Posted by: suzie | May 10, 2008 08:44 AM
The whole time loop thing really hurts my head, but what if when locke moves the island this causes flight 815 to miss the island and go into the ocean.
Posted by: lost fan | May 10, 2008 08:54 AM
I agree with whoever posted that young Locke knew which ones to pick and chose the knife out of defiance. I got the feeling that he knew exactly what he was doing and chose as to throw off Richard (I don't have an explanation to this except that Locke always goes against the current).
Also, the doctor washing up dead and then the call to the freighter said he was fine. Just afterward, he gets his throat slit. Remember the time difference of 31 minutes from when Farraday ran his rocket experiment? The thing landed 31 minutes after the fact- the island is AHEAD of time by at least 31 minutes (based on the bearings, its 31 minutes ahead of the freighter/ who knows how far it is away from land)... I don't know if time moves faster or if it is just ahead of schedule?

I like the time loop scenario. That's the first thing my husband said when he saw Horace. 'this guy's on a time loop'
Also interesting about the island from lostpedia; http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Pregnancies#Fertility;
Island males, on the other hand, see their sperm counts multiply five times normal, so that in each, uh, dose, contains 300 to 400 million sperm. (Healthy normal sperm counts are 40 to 50 million per sample.)

This isn't the first time they changed pictures. Remember in the old lady's house where Miles went to clean out his spirit? The pictures hanging by the stairs changed.

Suzie - thanks. Luckily they were in an old Cadi tank and wearing seatbelts. My 4'11" daughter was driving and took quite a hit from the airbag. They were hit from behind full force by another teen not paying attention and shoved into the back of a mercedes. Thank god for guardian angels! :)
While I wait to hear from the insurance company I can relax now and focus on rewatching last week's episode.

Just a quick point of reference: 305 is a bearing or a heading, when used in reference to the direction (north and west of the freighter)Sayid is told to take to get to the island from the freighter, not a coordinate. That would indicate the island's global position by a combination of latitude and longitude (see definitions below).
A small point, I know, but it was driving me crazy to read the improper usage. Love LOST too much ... can't wait to see how Locke moves the island!
9. Nearing: (Naut.) (a) The situation of a distant object, with regard to a ship's position, as on the bow, on the lee quarter, etc.; the direction or point of the compass in which an object is seen; as, the bearing of the cape was W. N. W.
{Geographical coordinates}, the latitude and longitude of a place, by which its relative situation on the globe is known. The height of the above the sea level constitutes a third coordinate.

Suze, hope you are okay, good luck on zapping Keamy! I hate that creepy guy! What the heck was strapped to his arm anyway??
Jaclyn, wow, great memory! I think you are right about the book of laws being where eko found the tape, and I had forgotten about the compass at the beginning!! I wonder what the book symbolizes??
Jen, your post about Jacob and Leah in the bible got me thinking--what if Jacob is Ben & John's real dad ('cause they've gotta be brothers)???
Jennifer--good point about Ben's mom dying during childbirth and John's being used in the scam--but are we sure that those were John's real parents? If he was given up for adoption then they might not be. I think they're brothers.
Dana michelle--good point about the bearings and the connection with Eko's stick. Another thing about the bearings, wasnt it last week on this site that someone said something about maybe Miles was talking in code about the 3.2 million dollars and he meant 3-2-5 (5 zeros) and was telling ben the bearing? I guess that isn't true sine they said it was 3-0-5
LOL on the "guyliner"!
I think I'm one of the odd ones out here, not giving this one an "A". I agree with Daniel that the mythology aspect makes the show more interesting, but I don't like it when they have a zillion plotlines going on at once in an episode--it's like an episode of 24 where nothing much happens in each plot and then the show is over!
I made a few polls on Your2Cents to grade the ep. and vote on what they're gonna tell us next week:
http://apps.facebook.com/yourtwocents/viewquestion.aspx?postid=456
I hope we find out if Ben & Lock are brothers! Although I bet most of next week will be the boat ride home of the O6.

I'd never want to leave! Monkeyface, map has more than cabin, cabin munchies, too funny! maybe that's where the ash came from. Hope you are feeling better today. what's in a name great info on Richard. 3:05 "bearing" thanks for clarification. Hey, where's Sarah, collecting necklaces in the French Quarter?

Stan-to elaborate on your point, Buddhists monks do use that method when trying to determine the reincarnation of important monks and the Dalai Lama. Early in the series there were many references in Buddhist magazines to the show and many speculations as to Locke's spirituality and if he was in fact the manifestation of a bodhisattva. We already know about Dharma (Truth) and certainly karma....
Posted by: schatzipage | May 10, 2008 01:34 PM
I think maybe a psychic or prophet (or Jacob?) told Richard and/or Abbadon that they should seek a son born prematurely to a woman named Emily, because that son would be a leader on the island or something. I don't think Ben and Locke are actually related, but the fact that they have such similar backgrounds is significant.
Posted by: rita | May 10, 2008 01:41 PM
ok, i have to get this out there: John has always been the man of faith vs. Jack the man of science. John knew he was a science geek at heart growing up but denied this to himself choosing instead hunting, cars, etc. Richard tried to get him to go down this science path but to no avail.. blah, blah you know the story. O.K., here it is, if John would have been a science geek, he would know about quantum physics, quantum mechanics, string theory, electromagnetism, parallel universes, how electromagnetism (i.e. the Hatch) has an effect on wormholes thru time and space etc. BUT he wanted to be a superhero instead. How are you gonna MOVE THE ISLAND now, John? :)Anyway, listen to Faraday when he talks about how the light doesn't scatter just right. It's not about a leaf, mary jane, jungle or otherwise. Hopefully John will get the ultimate course correction and be the man of science he was supposed to be.

I just linked to the link of John's mom and it gave a brief history of her with her pic. On that link there is a picture of the admission form for her stay in the mental hospital. She was at Santa Rosa too. Could that be any connection? Also, do we know that the woman who came and found Lock as an adult is really his mother or was she just a front to get the kidney for his father?
Posted by: robin | May 10, 2008 02:16 PM
Locke and Ben are brothers.
Emily is the mom of both of them.
Posted by: Natalie | May 10, 2008 02:17 PM
Richard is time traveling which is why he never looks different. and that's how he is on and off the island without the use of a submarine

Just a quick note: Why didn't Locke's mother Emily look even three months pregnant in the flashback when she was hit by the car? She was skinny!
Posted by: SarahInAZ | May 10, 2008 03:13 PM
Sarah, I thought the same thing. At 5, almost 6 months (as she said), that tiny waisted skirt doesn't seem realistic. You'd think she'd at least have to be hiding her stomach a bit.
Posted by: dana michelle | May 10, 2008 03:41 PM
hi all...thinking about the fashion of the 50s, locke's mom probably wore a crinoline and waists were cut much higher then. she may have been able to hide a growing baby bump
robin, yes, emily was a patient at Santa Rosa, the same hospital as hurley, libby, linus (numbers guy)
i think older emily was truly his biological mother. from lostpedia john locke
in their first conversation, Emily claimed he was "immaculately conceived" (although she meant that he had no father), paving the way for his special "destiny". However, the disbelieving John hired an investigator to track her down, who returned with information about his living father, and a medical record of his mother's psychiatric problems.

I've already decided who's in the casket. So I hope I'm right on that one. I can not wait to see how they reveal the Jack/Claire sibling thing. I have a feeling Jack finds out post island. Somehow I think if he found out on the island he would do everything he could to bring Claire back so she can be with Aaron. It would be such a betrayal if Kate somehow knew and didn't tell him. Long-shot I know.
Anyway, I'm thinking I want to watch Cain Fever again. How many times have you guys watched it so far? :)

Just wanted to comment on what someone else mentioned (Kristen?). Maybe Jack being on this Oceanic flight wasn't of great importance in the original scheme of things. Maybe Christian's returning to the island was what was of great importance, since he seems to be a central figure in all this. Jack would be disappointed to find that his being there was of no real significance, since he views himself as the "leader, rescuer, and all around go-to-guy"!

I agree with rita, I think we'll find out that there is a prophecy about the next leader of the island being born to a woman named Emily L---- (Locke and Linus have the same number of letters). Richard showed up soon after Locke was born...and Horace Goodspeed showed up at Ben's birth.
Ben's mom and Locke's mom aren't the same woman though, even though they have the same name. When Locke meets his mother in season 1, he has DNA testing done to find out if she really is his biological mom. Same for his dad, Anthony Cooper, who got his kidney. The test confirms that they are his parents, and it's said to be 99% accurate. Ben's mother died in childbirth shortly after he was born, and Locke's was alive well past that time. BUT, Ben and Locke could still be related if Anthony Cooper is also Ben's father - considering how poorly the man who raised him treated him it wouldn't surprise me if he knew that Ben wasn't really his son.
Also, I didn't see this mentioned above, but the test that Richard used on young Locke is the same one that Tibetan monks use to find the new incarnation of the Dalai Lama - they believe that he is the same soul that is reincarnated into various bodies. If a child can recognize the possessions of the former DL, he is believed to be the new incarnation. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21321374/Here's an article about it.

Desmond met Charlie before they were ever on the island. Charlie was playing guitar one day on a street corner ( can not remember specifics right now as Mother's Day celebrations have already begun :)
Anyway, He met Charlie & he goes up to him & asks him, 'you're Charlie aren't you'......WHY OH WJY did Charlie NOT recognize Desmond when he saw him on again the island?

I got through *most* of the comments; hope this isn't a repeat.
No one commented on the Dharma logo on the materials that were pulled out of the safe on the freighter. I know it was hinted before, but isn't this our first solid confirmation that Widmore is with Dharma?
I think that Abbadon and Richard are opposites, with Richard representing the Others and Abbadon representing Dharma (which explains him selecting people for the freighter). When Locke chose the knife, its not that he didn't choose something he *already owned* (or would own), its that he *did* -- but the knife is a sign that he will be aligned with Dharma (nb that Abbadon mentions the knife), while the sand is a sign that he will be aligned with Others/Jacob. Its not clear then, or now, where he will come out.
Indeed, note that it is a Dharma worker, Horace, who tells Locke where the cabin will be. Why would a Dharma worker be aligned with Jacob? Wouldn't a Dharma worker be the opposite? So, maybe it wasn't Jacob's cabin at all; it was the cabin of the Spirit of Dharma, which would be Christian. Of course, Christian is then lying when he says that he can speak for Jacob. The question is, does Ben know this, or is he in the dark?

How was the whole Doctor thing not mentioned by anybody??
The doctor seemed to die AFTER his body washed up on shore!!! It obviously has to do with the whole time difference between Island Standard Time, and everything else standard time...

I have a theory, maybe Hurley is the chosen one? in season two desmond asked John if he was HIM and what did one snowman say to the other, john didn't know the answer to the riddle. i think hurley told that riddle to somebody on the island in S1. Hurley can also 'move' stuff. Also John didn't choose the right things and Richard looked like he was pissed.

Scales--I am also looking for clarification on Hurley being able to move things. When did this happen?
LIT--Who is Eloise, again?
Posted by: Beej | May 11, 2008 04:57 PM
Eloise was Daniel Faraday's lab rat at Oxford University's Queen's College Physics Department in 1996. Her consciousness was sent forward in time, allowing her to run a maze perfectly, having supposedly been taught the course by Faraday one hour in the future. Later in the day, Eloise died. The cause was unknown, but Faraday hypothesized she had suffered a brain aneurysm. According to his theory, not having any constant, her consciousness couldn't differentiate between the future and the present. ("The Constant")
from lostpedia
Posted by: Anonymous | May 11, 2008 05:29 PM
hey Beej - )I know you didn't ask me), but Eloise is Daniel's mouse in 1996 (from the Constant)...remember Daniel tells Desmond ' if I don't believe you, tell me you know about Eloise'..

hey all! Happy Mother's Day (or as my husband likes to say 'Happy Baby Mama Day!') to all the Moms out there!
I was thinking about something & wanted to know what you guys thought. It hasn't been mentioned, I don't think. If it has let me know.
As far as flashbacks go: We have never seen a flashback go as far back as Locke's did in Cabin Fever correct?
We saw teenage Jack, but that's as far back as we've gone.
Cabin Fever was different & GREAT in so many ways, but generally during a flashback the character having the flashback is remembering it, thinking about it. We started a flashback with someone who isn't even born yet. Is this just the scene they are choosing to start with, or something more?
Enter Richard: Richard is there on the day John is born. If Richard is time traveling that would mean that he has traveled back in time to make sure John ends up on the island somehow, because of what he knows about John now. Because Jacob has spoken to him & he's the one so he travels back to make sure of it.
If he's not time traveling then he would have had to know, somehow have knowledge that John was going to be born premature on that night. So it's would trippy in 2 ways: We were watching a character have a flashback without having been born yet & Richard was there at John's birth in real time.
Just a thought I had & thought it would be cool if John was THAT special, that he'd have a flashback so far back.
Now there's a special guy!
SO after all that, my question is does Richard know about Locke because he met him on the island & he's traveling back in time to see him or did he know about Locke when he was conceived?
Posted by: kat | May 11, 2008 05:55 PM
kat...imo richard knows ALL about john locke. how could he not? remember, they had files on everyone on the plane, so even if he forgot young john locke, he knew he was there after the crash, but that is too coincidental.
john was "chosen" before birth, maybe? all his life they/the island tried to recruit him and he kept turning his back as a man of science, they finally got him as a man of faith..i think ben was second choice the whole time.
that being said, what is the reason for all the other losties to be "chosen' to come to the island?

here is something very interesting, may have been discussed before:
abaddon is older WALT! greyB at tvgasm put it like this:
I'm gonna go out on another limb here. I'm betting that when Abaddon started his walkabout, he started it as Walt. Something about his diction when he says "Mr. Locke" and the way he finished his statement with "John" just screams "WAAAAAALLLLT" to me.
"When you're ready, Mr. Locke...you'll listen to what I'm saying. And then when you and me run into each other again...you'll owe me one.
Walt. Big money.
Posted by: monkeyface | May 11, 2008 06:24 PM
omg
mf, i never thought @ abaddon being future walt.
but how would walt get back to the island to time travel?
good theory, but not sure how it would work out...abaddon was already planning the freighter trip back, why would walt do that?
b/c the island has moved in time, and he is desperate to get back?
but how did he learn to time travel? from his captive time with the others?
very interesting, im going to have to think about this one
btw...when are we going to see more of sawer? no FF or FB so far for him this season...he may not be o6, but he is still a major character

Suzie -
I really don't get how you could say that the picture changing isn't a big deal. The prop department had to make more than one painting (not to mention the 100's of other examples of things changing in the show and the duplicates and triplicates that would result) so why would they go to all that trouble to do it? I think it's very important to the overall show. They're actually SHOWING us these differences quite obviously now in every episode, whereas the first 3 seasons we were still learning about who all these people were, what they were about, and what the Others and the island was about.
I think the eyes changing has to do with the character changing roles at that time. I think a lot of what www.lostisagame.com says is really on to something with the exception of the show being a "video" game. We know it's a game already, and we know most of the players... the eyes have to do with switching roles, I'm sure. People are being recruited to the island, or brought there under false pretenses, or even force. I think the "leader" or whatever the force on the Island is has been trying to find a successor. He may be impregnating women off the island, and then testing the children as time goes on to see if they're 'ready'. In addition the "leader" is passing the right on to one of his sons, and they are "competing" somehow in this overall game by getting the "players" (Losties) to do what they want without directly doing it themselves.
This is my rudimentary framework to what's going on in the show. It changes and whatnot, but I feel like this season, we are starting to get an understanding of what is really happening. It's easier to start to form theories now.
Anyway, still analyzing everything I see on LOST. Really think if you haven't given lostisagame.com a chance, then you should check it out. It's worth it for the tremendous amount of info he's compiled. I can't look at the show the same way - I see all these crazy details all over the place now. I'm trying to figure out how it all fits together!! Aaaahhh.... is this going to be my summer - waiting until it comes on again in JANUARY of 09! uuugghh!

I am a long time reader, first time poster.
I think I have read all the comments here over the past few days and haven't seen discussed what I believe is a giant clue to what is going on.
When Doc Ray's body washed ashore on the island, he had a fresh, newly stitched wound on his right cheek along with his cut throat. In this last episode when his throat was cut by Keamy on the freighter, he had an old wound (at least several days old) and no stitches on the same cheek. His shirt also appeared to be a different color although that could have been because it was wet in one scene and dry in the other. How is this possible?
Is it possible that things are happening over and over again but in a slightly different way each time? The scene with Horace chopping down the tree is a good example. Perhaps the time travelers (Ben and Widmore and others) are trying to change the outcome by going back in time and doing things differently each time.
This would explain Emily's pictures changing, and why Ben knows everything about everyone and how to manipulate them (he's met them before), the comment by Keamy when he opened the safe that the document stated "where Linus is going". How could someone know that?
Perhaps as someone posted earlier, the plane at the bottom of the ocean isn't a hoax. Maybe it is just a different "loop". We may find out when they bring the Oceanic pilot back for a flashback. I read that the actor who played the pilot was spotted filming in Hawaii. If somehow he takes off his wedding ring before the flight, then I would bet that the plane really did crash in the ocean and all died at least in one run through.
That could also explain the strange time differences between the island and the outside world. We don't know which loop we are watching in the "present" or in any of the flashbacks or flashforwards. I just hope they get everything back into sync by the end of the series. I loved the song too. "Every day its a getting closer, going faster than a roller coaster..."
OK I have rambled enough. Crazy yes?
Posted by: Lockette | May 11, 2008 10:04 PM
Lost on your eyeland, I never meant the picture changes didn't matter, I just thought the eye color changes was a much BIGGER deal.
and good catch, lockette, about the doc and the stitches! I noticed that at the time, but then forgot it. Something happened to the doc between when he was killed by Keamy, and when he washed up on shore.
things deffinately keep changing!
When the O6 get back to civilization, maybe we will find out there was no plane on the ocean floor. Nobody remembers it.

I love the comments, but you ladies need to tone down the keamy and sawyer being hot stuff or you'll keamy in your pants..lol
I agree with the people about locke remembering richard. seems like his childhood would trigger his thoughts now. walt has to play a role in this sooner or later. they built him up too much to not have him back.

what a game! 2 beings: one light one dark, want to create uptopia (their each individual versions of utopia), on this island.
they can change the past over and over until they can create the perfect group of people to inhabit this island. They go back and impregnate different women, trying to create the perfect offspring to inherit the island.
they can change the past and future, with no regard to how these changes will effect the rest of the world. They could not care less about the effects they have on peoples lives.
But how do they know when the game ends? How do they know who wins? Or does it ever end?
And who are these 2 beings? Or is it 3 beings? Or more?

I haven't caught up on all of the comments, but going along with the Dali Lama selection process and John Locke having to pick the things that already belong to him... when Google-ing Dali Lama this came up- The closest translation for the words "Dalai Lama" are Oceanic Guru. Hm, Oceanic?? Odd coincidence?

Anyone else think Keamy and blonde from underwater station look like siblings? Maybe big bro is so happy to kill the islanders because he feels his sister was take by a cult.

I haven't gotten through all of the posts yet, so I apologize if this has already been discussed. But I have a thought on what the 3rd item young Locke was supposed to pick. John Locke, the philosopher, was one of the social contract theorists. The social contract theory basically revolved around people giving up their freedom to live under the rules of society because of its greater benefits. I realize I probably haven't explained this well and I think its been discussed on this site before. But this makes me think that young Locke was supposed to pick the Book of Laws. I hope I explained it well enough. Everyone always seems to have such good domments/theories on here and explains them so well.

lockette.. nice theory.. I was thinking similarly with the time traveling things would change thus altering the events later. kat I like your idea about when did richard meet locke island or birth.
my question is if christian is special and claire/aaron are special, than why isn't jack supposed to be on the island.. they are related so you would think he is.
also the season ender where the others had sawyer kate jack and hurley. why were they on the list?

Whew! Okay, I've read most of the comments here and have some thoughts:
I think I heard that Desmond and Ben have never been in the same scene together and this makes me think that Desmond had other reasons not to go back to the island. Also, remember the note: Don't trust the captain? Do we believe the note? Does Desmond know something? Whatever... something is up there, I think.
I'm not a big Lost Is A Game believer and yet, I keep thinking about it. The way Hurley, Locke and Ben are on the journey to the cabin to get instructions, the way Locke is told to "move the island" seems very moving pieces and game-like to me.
I don't think Abbadon is future-Walt, but I wish that was the case. The producers are so careful with casting and younger/older versions of characters always look similar, but Walt and Abbadon look nothing alike.
Re: the Mystery Tale comic book: the guy seems to be looking out a train window, not an airplane window. Don't know if that is significant, but it is cool the way the city is moving on a cloud.
Sarah B: re why is Aaron included as one of the O6? I assume it's because that what the media call them. It's an easier soundbite than "the Oceanic 5 plus the baby born after the crash." Also, I so thought "hunk o burning Christian love" during the cabin scene and had to laugh, thinking of you!
Total A epi, just for the candy bar scene and Keamy, who is amazing!
Love reading this blog and also get so much from the EW and LostPedia sites.

i think locke, sawyer & claire are dead - but only off the island which is why they don't leave...recall: ben shot locke in that big hole, and clare's house blew up...maybe sawyer is next...AND i think michael is in the casket and no one showed because they were so mad at him for ditching them and then coming back to work for ben on the boat...so michael works on the boat, people get off the isalnd yadda yadda so now michael can successfully kill himself (or get killed)...which would explain why no one (except jack/ mr. can't accept that he can't fix everything) thougts?

Gregg wrote: "also the season ender where the others had sawyer kate jack and hurley. why were they on the list?"
Gregg, my opinion is that Ben needed Jack to do the surgery and Kate and Sawyer to force Jack to do it (Sawyer to sacrifice if needed and then threaten to kill Kate too), and Hurley was the messenger needed to send back to the Losties to warn them not to come after them.
I also think that John is Jacob in a different time loop. John doesn't know yet. Richard knows. Ben may know too. I don't believe that Ben is giving up power easily.
As someone mentioned earlier, I think the freighter will blow up (Keamy or Michael?)before the "six" can get back to it. Michael (as Kevin Johnson) will be rescued from the freighter and later die in LA to become the man in the coffin. The "six" plus Kevin Johnson will be rescued from the Zodiac boat maybe by Penny's rescue mission.

Ben and Locke can't have the same mom. Ben's mom died in childbirth, whereas John met his mom when Anthony Cooper conned him out of a kidney. John is suspicious of her after she tells him he was "immaculately conceived", so he hires an investigator. They meet up, and part of the information the PI hands over is DNA evidence that the woman IS John's real mom. Emily Linus would have been long dead by this point.
Also, the device on Keamy's arm? Its gotta be a miniature sonic generator, like the fence the Others use to repel Smoky. Keamy's guy just got chewed up and spit out by that monster and he's not going to make the same mistake twice. The info for it was probably in Widmore's secret file.

Sawyer ain't dead. He has just decided he would rather stay on the island. He was probably wanted by the law somewhere anyway.
Claire seems dead. No way a mother would just forget all about her baby laying in the jungle unless she's really drugged, or dead. And she's happily hanging out with a dead guy.
I don't think Locke is dead. But I have been wrong before!
Micheal set that bomb all up on the freighter. The little sign just said NOT YET. It didn't say this is not a bomb. Just "not yet". So I figure it will go off sooner or later. Hope Des gets off the boat before it goes off.
Posted by: suzie | May 12, 2008 10:01 AM
who says the info the PI gave locke was real?
Posted by: kristy | May 12, 2008 10:01 AM
Sorry about the Jacob/Emily post, monkeyface beat me to it.
I never really thought about the flashbacks as thoughts or memories just "insight" so we can understand the character's actions. The FB I really want to see is the BLACKROCK landing...I'll bet we see some very familiar faces there!
sawyersgrrl, I don't think we see Sawyer FB because he has redeemed himself by killing Cooper for Locke, 2 birds one shot so to speak. He's had quite a personality change this season, almost like he and Jack switched..Jack now the hot head.
Lockette, sounds a bit like Back to the Future, all three were on on Saturday in the background as I was working and blogging.
Maybe Ben installed a flux capacitor in the VW bus on the Island, and that's how they are traveling! WHEN is the time traveling device invented? Not Des "subconscious" travel, but Ben/Richard/Mr. Friendly off-island travel. Could be in the future?
I think CAM might be in the cabin with Pet Semetary Claire! CAAAAAAAM!
Posted by: Anonymous | May 12, 2008 10:03 AM
what did ben's mother say to him when she appeared to him as an island apparition that one time when he was a kid? he wanted his mother and did she say something like, "it's not time yet?"
Posted by: kristy kreem | May 12, 2008 10:05 AM
Yea, I thought about the info Locke got from the PI. The PI could work for the bad guys and just tell Locke lies.
Also, I think the thing on Keamys arm is something that explodes when his heart stops beating. He threatened the captain with it right before the captain was shot. Remember, he held his arm up and said "you don't want to do that!" (shoot me)
Like the captain wouldn't shoot him since that was on his arm. If it was just a sonic thing, it wouldn't threaten people at all.
So Keamy is willing to die, just so whatever kills him dies too.

Kat - I have been looking for a pic of Locke's drawing with no luck. Agreed it does appear to be black smoke hovering over a man possibly coming from a hole in the ground.
I just had a thought when I saw it that it could possibly have been a fire with smoke rising from it and a man sitting or laying by the fire. Locke does tend to roam around the jungle and make camp quite often, and we have seen people wake up next to a fire on many occasions.
Of course, smoke monster would be more applicable, but going along with the whole compass, knife thing, thought it could be a reference to Locke's hunting/camping ways also.

way back when locke was holding charlie's heroin while charlie went through withdrawal, he showed charlie a cocoon. he explained to charlie that the beautiful moth was inside struggling to break out of the cocoon. locke could help it by gently splitting the cocoon open, but then the moth would be too weak to live. it's the struggle that gives the moth strength.
so, as we've already discussed, the island appears to have influenced the main characters' lives to offer them the specific struggle they needed to make them strong so they can bloom on the island.
whether they go to the dark or the light is in flux.

Jo: That is an excellent point that the comic book cover looked more like a train window than a plane. I commented earlier that it looked like a plane window (mainly because of the rivets and the curtains) but I never even considered a train. From the perspective that is shown, a train would make a lot more sense.
But what exactly would it mean?
Posted by: dana michelle | May 12, 2008 11:27 AM
one more thing...
i watched the first few eps of season one the other day, and i was surprised at how blatantly they lay out elements of the overarching concept of the series:
backgammon as the oldest game in known history being a metaphor for the struggle between darkness and light;
locke and walt's connection;
rose saying the sound the monster makes is very familiar to her;
kate saying she doesn't want to be eve;
the island being on a loop;
dead people walking;
injuries or lack thereof not necessarily being normal or consistent; and
destiny.
from the perspective of season 4 and what we've been able to hypothesize, watching the first handful of episodes from season one is quite interesting.
Posted by: kristy kreem | May 12, 2008 11:33 AM
I haven't read all the posts, but did anyone else catch that Emily was listening to Buddy Holly in the intro and, as we all know, he died in a plane crash??
Oh Lost, why do I love you so?
Posted by: twentiethcenturyfox | May 12, 2008 11:43 AM
monkeyface: Thanks for the link to young John's drawing. After further inspection, I have to agree it does appear to be smoke coming from a fire. hmmmmm.
I read the write-up on that link and saw this. After discussing the whole Dalai Lama selection process, the writer goes on to say, "There is a novel listed on the wiki about the Panchen Lama called...wait for it...The Dharma King."
Now THAT'S quite interesting!

Thanks, Graham, for knocking some sense into this conversation.
Locke and Ben are definitely NOT brothers. The Emilys are played by different girls. Plus, we see Locke's mom in one of his flashbacks (remember, she tells him about how she was part of the kidney-stealing plan?).
Ben's mom was played by the actor's (Michael Emmerson) wife, not the same chick who played young or old Emily Locke.

Look again!

Someone up above mentioned what appear to be some anomalies in the time differences between the boat and the island.
But here's what I don't get: When Daniel, in one of his first episodes, was testing the time differential by having a person on the boat fire a rocket (?) at the island. The rocket didn't land until some time AFTER (45min?) it should have. So apparently things happen later on the island than they do on the boat (and other places?).
However, when the doctor was killed, his body appeared on the island BEFORE he was killed on the boat. So in that case, things happen on the island prior to happening on the boat.
Don't get it. How does this work?
Have I got this backward or screwed up in my mind? Definite possibility.
Would appreciate any input or clarification if someone has any.

hi guys! glad i could find a pic to share..that site gives pretty good re-cap, but NOTHING like daniel!! lol i remember seeing it there before, so when i saw jon couldn't find a photo, bingo!
i think it looks like smokey, but could also be an attacking (?) campfire, yeah, right. i think richard knew what he was seeing...
locke and ben are probably not brothers, but i'm sure the writers could come up w/ something if they wanted to go that way, like the PI hired by locke was a phony, swoosie wasn't his mom and cooper was a really good grifter....just sayin' there are different ways to go...a great debate, especially since w/ an end in sight, there are going to be answers, promised by the producers.
i'm glad we are going to get answers, but i'm so sad the show will have to end. =(
there must be a spin off!
hurley's island...he's rich enough to make your dream come true!
okay, i'll stop b/4 i get on a roll...we've done this before and i could go on and on. i'll spare you all (everybody)
Posted by: monkeyface | May 12, 2008 03:08 PM
lost in bend...i'm totally confused, too. the rocket was late, but the doctor was killed AFTER the body washed up, so either the writers are messing w/ the time line of the epi, or maybe the island is already moving???? or, things are a lot weirder than they seemed, if that is possible.
Posted by: monkeyface | May 12, 2008 03:11 PM
Kat - you questioned if Richard was time traveling, how did he know John was going to be born premature that night. Maybe Richard was the one driving the car that hit Emily? Awful thought, but it would put him there at the right time. And thanks - kids are better :) Great mom's day to have them safe!
Another thought. Maybe Widmore knew the general area of the island and planned the race course through it to see if any boats disappeared. Of all luck it happened to be Desmond.
I think I'm in a dark place. I'll just go back to thinking about Hurley and Ben sharing a candybar :)

Duffy - That's not terribly unreasonable. Richard is responsible for Juliet's ex-husband getting hit by a bus.
I just think if he was actually there in real time (rather than time traveling) it makes for a far more interesting situation.
monkeyface - I can't remember who said this a while back but my favorite for a LOST spin-off is The Millionaire & The Hunk.--Starring Hugo Reyes & James Ford.

Posted by: kat | May 12, 2008 04:02 PM
lost in bend: I have a theory on the time dif-w/the doc...probably way off-but: Consider it was "real time" on the freighter-Keamy (MF'R) slit his throat, threw him over and the "island"-the natural current brough him to shore, in whatever time it actually took. The other scenarios, involved "man made"-time differences-setting off a rocket (man made-not island made)to the boat from the island.. and the helicopter (also man made-not of the island) back and forth.. on diferent coordinates..do you follow, or am I way off base? Or it could be this whole time travel mumbo-jumbo, that none of us can wrap our heads around. And on a side note, i read that on Desperate Housewives-Edie left and wont be back for "three years", and the series is suppose to end before then, and the reporter commented on them (the producers) using the same flashback-flashforward that LOST uses!!!!!! This is just wrong!!!!! Nobody else better try and use the same techniques that LOST does, pisses me off!!!! PS" CAAAAAAM & SAAAAARH B.......

Tootsie1 - I like your man made vs. island made theory.
I'm liking the time travel aspect, but I would be blown away if say Richard WAS really at John's birth. I'd love an OMG moment like that.
Also, I think sarah b might still be on vacation...either that or she's still reading all the comments! So much GREAT stuff to read through this week.

kat thanks for thinkin of me in the quarter. and YES i did drink to LOST! lol.
is it wrong i find it ironic you mentioned me, who is 24 and in college, in the same post that you said its a giant island where is the weed stash? anyway, dont want to dwell on that TOO much, dont wanna seem like the crazy stoner chick.
i did have a great time after finals and i did think of all my LOST diary friends! and had a few for yas
okay...
someone said what if christian and richard are brothers? i really like that...alot. i feel there has to be a stronger connection between jack and locke besides the whole man of faith/science thing. also, all we know about christian's dad is that he didnt want him to marry margo. beore in my biblical connection theory, i skipped to jacob being christian's great grandfather, but now i am willing to make the direct connection, hence making my aaron/jacob theory work perfectly. i will do more research now that i will have some time. and also i read something about abaddon being in the bible? consider that research started!
Posted by: sarah badara | May 12, 2008 05:53 PM
ps i meant christians grandfather, but regardless, jacob is christian's dad ( i think ) and correct me if im wrong, but if christian and richard are brothers...and richard who may be locke's true father...that would make them cousins? which is what i was trying to get at.
OH and i forgot, kat, did i see you said you are newly engaged????? if so congrats!

I was the one who was making up all of the spin-off names. It was after the Kentucky Derby and the mint juleps I drank.
Anyway, the time gap from when the doc washed up on the island has to include when his dead body stopped and got STITCHED UP!
He had no stiches in his face when he was killed. When he washed up to the island....stitches in the cut on his face. How do we explain that?

hey suzie q! --
I've been wanting to get back to the doctor as well.
personally I am having a hard time figuring out Doc's situation. It's a GOOD one!
I noticed a scar on his cheek but, yeah, what about that freshly sewn up wound? I meant to revisit this when someone above (sorry I can't remember who right now) asked WHY we weren't discussing the doctor more this week.
So let's cuz I'm confused!
I might be MIA in a little while though. My husband is probably going to take over the computer...World of Warcraft!
Posted by: kat | May 12, 2008 06:38 PM
If I do have to go, I will check tomorrow for sure!!
Posted by: kat | May 12, 2008 06:42 PM
On the boat, the doc had a healing up cut with no stitches on his cheek.
Washed up on shore, he had a slit throat (from Keamy), and a badly stitched cut on his cheek.
I had read an idea before that the island doesn't really heal you, your body just goes back in time to when you weren't sick or paralyzed yet.(so Rose would still get cancer, but LATER).
If that was true, the doc's stitches would not have been taken out yet. But then his neck should heal back up too. Right?
But maybe when you are dead (IF you are someone who could die) then your death wound doesn't heal back up.
I DON'T KNOW. I AM ALL SCREWED UP!
Posted by: suzie | May 12, 2008 07:17 PM
Yeah, about the submarine....we have NEVER seen it move. Juliet was asleep for her ride. The thing never left port. Ben was transported to the middle of the Sahara not too long ago...I'm pretty sure the island kicked him off. It kicked him off onto one of those places where reality is the thinnest...like at the pole, and in Australia. The island is slightly out of focus in the time-space continuum which is why Richard doesnt age...his destiny is somehow tied with the island...He's probably the captain of that ship that wrecked there...the one that Penelope's dad is so obsessed with. PS I love Lost.
Posted by: Candace | May 12, 2008 07:59 PM
Just want to clarify something. Many are commenting about Richard being present at John's birth, but when we see him is actually some time AFTER John's birth, The nurse talks about him getting through being born prematurely, having infections, etc. and "what a little fighter your John is." From the looks of him, I'm guessing it's at least a month or two later, as he looks like a normal sized infant.
That would give Richard some time to come looking for him. Kind of like the wisemen at the birth of Christ (That was just for you, Sarah B!) 8^}
I see some others are also commenting on the Doc's stitches, now. I mentioned that way back on Friday morning, but no one bit at the time. I think that's a huge clue, but it makes my mind hurt to try to comprehend how it's possible to die without big, honking stitches and wash up dead on shore with them. One of the posters thought that it might be a time loop and that changing one event could change future events. That's a pretty good idea, and the only that that seems to make any sense.
That or Mikhail is still alive under the water somewhere and he found and stitched up the Doc just to screw with our heads!

Sarah B glad you made it out of the French Quarter alive. I think PI was paid and Swoozie not Locke's real mom. Cooper just good conman. I am liking Richard as Locke's/ Ben's and maybe Aaron's Dad, though Thomas did look a hell of a lot like Ben. but the 3 kings quest is intriguing too. Either way, I SO want Richard to be from the BlackRock! Maybe Widmore was captain and Richard first mate. Doc washing up on sure before he died is confusing. But if he washed up why hasn't CHARLIE (sorry Daniel)?? Can't wait to see how they "move" the island.
Posted by: Lost Lover | May 13, 2008 05:49 AM
maybe the body showing up before the doc was killed has something to do with how long it takes to get from the ship to the island...remember when des & sayid left it seemed like the chopper was gone for a day or two to the losties but really it didnt take that long? it seems like going through the vortice takes a long time but when you come out its a totally different time. i'm sure that only makes sense in my head!!
Posted by: buttercup | May 13, 2008 08:17 AM
can we find screencaps of the doc before keamy slit his throat & when he washes up to shore...i dont remember what it looked like really, but if he had new stitches that were all tight they might not be noticeable at night but soaking in the salt water for a few days could have messed up the stiches & made them more noticeable specially in the day time?
