L.D.Q.A. -- 5/29
Just a couple of little thoughts to get us through the next few hours ...
Q: I just want the Losties to be happy. Do we think that will ever happen? For longer than 30 seconds that is. -- Melissa
A: No
Q: What, if any, significance do you think Locke's mum and Ben's mum having the same name means?
A: I hope it's just another "Lost" universe coincidence and not a sign they are really brothers -- we already have our secret half-siblings. This is "Lost," not "Days of Our Lives."
Q: I don't know if this has been covered yet, but in Desmond's vision, Claire got on a helicopter with Aaron, prompting Charlie to sacrifice himself. This obviously isn't going to happen, thereby altering the future and leading to sucky post-island life for the Oceanic 6. Thoughts? -- Jennifer
A: My guess is we'll see this tonight, since the Oceanic 6 are spread out all over the island. I am assuming we'll see them all come together tonight.
Q: What do you think happened to the "big box" that Locke's dad showed up in? Think that could be the transport machine? -- Jeff
A: I have to say, of all the questions that need to be answered, this is the one that could most ruin "Lost" for me. Obviously the show is heavily steeped in sci-fi -- but if it turns out they're time traveling in a Delorean or something stupid, I will be pissed.
Q: I have a strange question for you. Have you ever wanted to play the lottery with the "numbers"? I always want to but I just can't bring myself to do it. All I can think is "what if I actually won, would I go crazy like Hurley?" I know it sounds a little silly but I asked this question in the blog and found that there were at least a few people who felt the same as I do. I'm not usually a superstitious person but I just don't know what I would do if I actually won. -- Tabitha
A: You're talking to the guy who won't say "Candyman" into the mirror five times. No way I am playing "the numbers."
Q: Two questions:
1. What is the best episode of all 4 seasons and the worst episode of all 4 seasons? I am assuming the worst is a Charlie-centric episode (which I think I hate Charlie more than you do).
2. I agree with you 99% of the time, but I don't understand why you like Juliet. Explain.
-- Faith
A: 1) "Walkabout" will always be a top one for me, along with this season's "The Constant" episode. The worst episodes to me are the Nikki and Paulo one and the Hugo drives a car one. I am angry just thinking about them.
2) I used to think Juliet was a great character, but season 4 has not been good to her at all. She's become pretty useless at this point and is easily expendable at this point.
Q: Love your Lost Diary! I am a long time reader and I can't wait for Friday mornings to read what you have to say! I just finished re-watching season one (I can't believe that I enjoyed it as much as the first time I watched it!). I am just starting to re-watch season two and I was wondering if you have Diary entries from season two? It just would be the same without out reading you review after each episode!! I couldn't find any on the website and was wondering if you have them some where? -- Pam
A: I started doing the Diary somewhere during season 2 and I think those posts are around here somewhere. BUT -- I plan on re-watching season 2 also this summer, so look for me to start posting re-watch diaries soon.

That's it? I waited all day for you to post 7 lousy questions? What a ripoff!

Thank you for answering my question.
I was always the one that would say Candyman in the mirror just to see if anything would really happen. That's why I don't understand myself when it comes to playing the lottery with those numbers...

I AGREE WITH BARB. AND I HAVE PLAYED THE "NUMBERS" WITH KENO...AND I "LOST." BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME :)

to Barb Strickland:
If you don't like it, don't visit the site and keep your rude comments to yourself!

Candi, leave Barb alone. I agree with her.

A "ripoff" implies you paid something. You didn't pay a thing. Quityabitchin.

We still have our valuable time invested.
Maybe nobody sent in more than 7 questions.
Maybe we are all irritable cause we haven't seen Lost in 2 weeks, and we know we won't see it again after tonight for MONTHS.
Daniel, I love the idea of you writing about the old episodes! I look forward to them!
Posted by: suzie | May 29, 2008 11:05 AM
I don't know...I'd take my chances on the numbers. Worse case scenerio, I'm a millionairre and stuck on an island with Sawyer!
Posted by: Anonymous | May 29, 2008 11:15 AM
Sorry, the last anonymous was me.
I agree with Candi and Dave...quit complaining! Of course, if you sent in questions that didn't get answered, then maybe you'd have a more legitimate reason for whining. If you didn't bother to send questions, then keep it to yourself.

I think you're all far too emotional. Daniel does have a life other than posting blogs and Q & A's, you know. Maybe it's time to get a new flux capacitor.
Posted by: Anonymous | May 29, 2008 11:28 AM
Daniel does have a life outside this diary, ya know! 7 questions is better then none! Sorry some people have become proprietary over the diary... guess its a testament to how good it is & how much we all enjoy it! Enjoy the finale tonight, all! We'll be watching it "with" ya Daniel! ;)

Holy Hostilities around here lately. Calm down people! Your fix is just a few hours away!
Posted by: Anonymous | May 29, 2008 01:48 PM
Can you start the re-watch diaries at season one? I would love to start at the beginning since we have until JAN 09'. :(
Posted by: Anonymous | May 29, 2008 02:42 PM
Daniel you should monetize your blog. You've got readers everywhere- put some ads on it, affiliates, you never know!
Posted by: Anonymous | May 29, 2008 03:08 PM
anonymous at 12:13....
I don't really think an anonymous opinion really deserves a response, but since I'm already ornery thinking about waiting until next year for new episodes once tonight is over I'll go for it.
Why should we not make comments ("stop telling others what to do") about other people being mean towards Daniel who puts so much into this blog, yet it's OK for them to tell Daniel what to do? Not one person who was complaining said that they had a question that wasn't answered so it is quite possible that all of the questions that were received were answered. So my point was to get off of Daniel's case!
I was always taught that when you are a guest in someone's home as we all are here at Daniel's blog you should show them some respect.
Posted by: shari | May 29, 2008 03:31 PM
Amen Sista! I actually did submit a question and Daniel didn't answer it, but it's cool.....I enjoy the conversation that flows from all the different ideas that float around this blog. It's all good.
BTW - I'd like to know how to get the East coast feed of Lost tonight. I'd like to watch it twice... ;) It's going to start soon for some of you lucky guys.....

In California you can't really play with 'the numbers'
42 can't be a mega #.
But yes I have played with 'the #'s'

Hey, for those of us that have been around for awhile -- we did Season 1 last summer, it is time for season 2. you want to read the diaries from them, go back to the main page, look to the right.
Posted by: Janelle | May 29, 2008 07:25 PM
Janelle, why are you such a bitch?
Posted by: Barb Strickland | May 29, 2008 07:27 PM
hey, that's enough of that. If you are gonna call people ugly names, go somewhere else to play.

Is this better :
"I encourage those of you who haven't seen the first season to rent it, then read Daniel's diaries from last summer. So OK, there won't be discussion, but there is some great insight in there. The only thing that got me through last summer and the fall was reading the recaps of Season 1, even though I was wayyyy behind on watching them when Daniel wrote recaps."
So now on to season 2!

If this question has been asked before, please indulge me, I can be kinda "LOST-thick" at times.
If Whidmore planted the fake plane, and supposedly it contained fake people to represent all the plane's passengers, how then can they explain when the O6 show up? Wouldn't that indicate that there were 5 extra people on the fake plane (Aaron not yet having been born)? Because I thought they had stated that all the passengers were accounted for when they found the fake plane.
Posted by: Joey | May 29, 2008 08:31 PM
Jack explains at the press conference that eight of them were able to get out the emergency doors before the plane went under. But "they" said the plane was too deep to raise, and too expensive, I think, so there would be no way to prove if they had made it off or not or how many bodies were in the plane
Posted by: Janelle | May 29, 2008 08:34 PM
ah okay, thanks Janelle. I had thought they had said all bodies were accounted for. What you said makes much more sense. If they had been able to recover any of the bodies, I'm sure there would have been DNA testing etc. that would have blown it all anyways. Thanks

I always thought about playing the numbers in the lottery. But then I realized that a lot of people probably play those numbers in the lottery, so if you actually won you'd get much less money =/

Posted by: jen23 | May 30, 2008 06:14 AM

Sometimes it is posted here first and sometimes I find it on TMZ first.

Interesting Finale. FYI...it really bothered me that they kept calling (Locke)him Jeremy Benthan. I am a History nerd and I recognized the name immediately. Jeremy Bentham was a philosopher in the 1700's, who (when he died) had his body preserved to sit at the head table of the London College permanently. His head, which was decomposing, was replaced with a wax head!!! So maybe, Locke was not really Locke, but a wax replica. Read up on him. Makes an interesting possibility! OMG!!!
Posted by: Margaret | May 30, 2008 06:24 AM
Teri as much as I REALLY what to let loose don't want to upset Daniel or any of the other regulars her. Would not be fair to them. It's killing me though!!!
Posted by: ME Too | May 30, 2008 06:25 AM
Yeah so, good thing about living on East coast get to see Lost first. Bad thing having to wait for Daniel, on West coast, to wake up and get on this blog. LOLOL
Only one thing I will say that isn't giving anything away. I can't wait to post a thought about Sun that just came to me about 20 mins. ago!! Of course many other thoughts but that is the one I'm dying to post!
Posted by: ME Too | May 30, 2008 06:29 AM
If the time delay between the island and the freighter is so great that the Doctor can show up on the shore at least a day before his throat is actually slit, how did the heart rate monitor set off the bomb almost instantly?
Posted by: Lauren | May 30, 2008 09:37 AM
Whose side is Sun on when she approaches Widmore? Does she really want to help him, or is she really helping Ben? Or, is she playing both sides because she's pissed at all of them?
Posted by: jc1685 | May 30, 2008 10:20 AM
don't think Sun is helping Widmore b/c he is friends with her father, how does the saying go? the friend of my enemy is my enemy
