Noon ET
Trying to finish it up while working, and it's going slow. I don't want to rush it up before it's right, so give me a little bit.
B+, that's all I'll say.
Thanks for the patience.

OMG, a B+? Really? I thought it was pretty freakin' great, but I will wait (somewhat) patiently for your explanation. :)

Your Noon or My Noon - EST?
Posted by: Allison | May 30, 2008 06:33 AM
I keep hitting refresh, trying to be patient, waiting for your insight. Great Episode!
Posted by: waiting with baited breath | May 30, 2008 06:33 AM
going to watch it again while I wait!
Posted by: EG | May 30, 2008 06:34 AM
B+???? what?? Daniel I love your column and only disagree with your ratings once in a blue moon, but come on...it was an A or A+ for sure!!! my heart was palpatating the whole time practically!! that finale was like a movie and it was incredible!!
take it back!! give the episode an A!!!! :D
Posted by: Lisa | May 30, 2008 06:34 AM
I can't wait any longer!!!
Posted by: Em | May 30, 2008 06:35 AM
i concur wholeheartedly Daniel. solid B+.

A- from me (only because I didnt want Jun to die!wtf!) Daniel, your expectation is to high!!!!looking forward to your recap and the comments that follow....
Posted by: goodfeke | May 30, 2008 06:37 AM
A+ Daniel, A+
i've already watched it twice
i'll start again while we wait
12 noon EST?
Posted by: monkeyface | May 30, 2008 06:38 AM
WOW.. I LIKE READING DANIELS COMMENTS AS MUCH AS THE NEXT GUY... BUT MY GOODNESS.. YOU GUYS ARE OBSESSED!!!
Posted by: jen23 | May 30, 2008 06:40 AM
Looks like Desmond may have a happy ending. Good news, brutha. Not convinced Jin is dead. Sun needs to pretend in order to "play" Widmore. My opinion is that all Lost folks were dead before the crash. Redemption for past deeds. They are all connected and cannot exist in any form without each other. A+, Daniel. And what happened to Daniel Faraday? Yes, I'm OBSESSED!!!
Posted by: peggy | May 30, 2008 06:47 AM
I thought it did fill in a lot of holes maybe too many. But over all I give it a A I still wish Jack would stop being such a *ss wish he and Jin could have switched seat.
Posted by: wendy | May 30, 2008 06:47 AM
A B+ seriously??? I couldn't sleep after this A+ episode, my adrenaline was too pumped up. Sooo many questions answered (who's in the coffin!!! how the O6 came together and were the only ones to leave! how/why they decided to lie! why jin stayed! penny & desmond reuniting!!!). Plus more questions, of course. What more do you need?? Though I'm sure your post will provide much explanation...
Posted by: Jamie | May 30, 2008 06:48 AM
B+? You're crazier than Hurley.
Posted by: Kevin | May 30, 2008 06:49 AM
Solid A. It was great to watch the Desmond-Penny reunion but it seemed too soon. Ben is still out there wanting to kill Penny in revenge for the death of Alex - can Desmond and Charles protect her?
Posted by: berky | May 30, 2008 06:51 AM
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person hitting the refresh button. I keep checking every 5 minutes. I think this was a solid A episode. Can't wait for your feedback Daniel!!
Posted by: Jeannine | May 30, 2008 06:51 AM
Oh my gosh, seriously?? With all those Locke/Ben scenes?? I watched all by myself, but must've said "Oh my god!" outloud a thousand times. I just loved it!! Amazing -- can't WAIT to read your recap :-)
Posted by: Katie P | May 30, 2008 06:51 AM
im obsessed too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Sandy | May 30, 2008 06:52 AM
Seriously? An A for sure. I lost track of how many times I shouted "Holy Shit!!" while watching this episode.
Posted by: Beej | May 30, 2008 06:55 AM
Did I miss Jeremy? Why would John use the name Jeremy? How could I miss such huge clues.
Posted by: wendy | May 30, 2008 06:55 AM
anyone think that Sun is mad at Ben for causing the blow up of the boat? And Desmond is mad at Ben because he kills Penny? So Sun and Desmond are both working to get revenge????

I loved this episode! But I agree with B+
Posted by: melobanker | May 30, 2008 06:59 AM
LMFAO!
"Crazier than Hurley!"
Posted by: EG | May 30, 2008 06:59 AM
I can't decide if the second person Sun blames for Jin's death is Jack, Whidmore or Ben.
Jack - because he refused to wait for or go back for Jin
Whidmore - because he is friends with her father, the other person she blames for his death
and
Ben - because he is Ben
Posted by: Jenn | May 30, 2008 07:04 AM
Question - anyone else wonder where Vincent is? Didn't see him once the whole episode. Anyone else think Charlotte is really Annie?
Posted by: shawna | May 30, 2008 07:06 AM
uh oh Daniel! Looks like we started the blog without you :) I just want to say I totally called the fact that they all have to go back together in an earlier blog...I believe the first episode this season
Posted by: melobanker | May 30, 2008 07:07 AM
Has anyone one else seen the 2 alternate endings for the finale (2 other people that they had in the coffin)?
I think it was on the today show. The producers made 2 other endings to screw with the people puting out spoilers.
Posted by: Tabi | May 30, 2008 07:08 AM
Tabi they were on Good Morning America. I watched them online this morning.
Posted by: Jenn | May 30, 2008 07:09 AM
I agree with shawna, after last night I really think charlotte is Annie, but I also think that might just be what they want us to think...
Posted by: Tabi | May 30, 2008 07:10 AM
Ok thanks, I couldn't remember.
I had a feeling it was Locke, if it were either of the other two it would have been a much bigger shock. Well at least for me.
Posted by: Tabi | May 30, 2008 07:11 AM
Really? Only a B+?? I thought it was a solid A. Lots of drama, along with some tasty reveals. Also...FINALLY...Desmond and Penny reunite!! Priceless. Can't wait for your recap!!
Posted by: Suze | May 30, 2008 07:11 AM
Solid A rating for the episode. It was truly awesome in my opinion. If helicopter had gone back for Jin, the boat and helicopter could have exploded. Jack puts himself in position to make hard decisions but I don't think he should be disliked for that. I like Jack even if I don't always like his decisions.
Posted by: Liz | May 30, 2008 07:12 AM
i thought Charlotte was her too, but she seems too young, but then again Richard Alpert has stayed the same age since god knows when
Posted by: Jenn | May 30, 2008 07:12 AM
Jenn--Time warp could explain this? (I love LOST--if something doesn't seem to fit, it's time travel!)
Posted by: Beej | May 30, 2008 07:15 AM
I also thought Charlotte might be Annie. You never know though. Great episode.
Posted by: Julie | May 30, 2008 07:17 AM
Can someone post a link to where we can see the alternate endings?
Also, can someone explain to me why they had to lie? I just don't get it. I mean the island is "gone" so it's not like they are in any danger of being found so why exactly did John ask Jack to lie and why did Jack agree to it?

Did you catch the commercial within one of the last commercial breaks for Octagon Global Recruiting. It is a Dharma spot.

Can't be a B+.
I didn't set my hopes too high and there were some great OMG moments!! Definitely A-!
Posted by: Janice | May 30, 2008 07:23 AM
Can someone remind me who Annie is please.
Posted by: Les | May 30, 2008 07:27 AM
Annie is Ben's childhood friend.
Posted by: Christie | May 30, 2008 07:28 AM
i saw the octogon commercial too as I was FFwding thru commercials. That was strange.
Posted by: goodfeke | May 30, 2008 07:33 AM
Ha! We don't have any patience... Here's a thought on Locke in the casket. Maybe he has to die to get the other Losties back to the island. Sort of like sacrificing himself to save the island or something along those lines. Once his body is back to the island, poof he's alive again? Also, what gives with Clair? Does the island want Aaron back or not?? There seems to be two different forces, one wants Aaron back on the island and the other one doesn't. Is that what you guys are getting about Aaron?
Posted by: ambrosia | May 30, 2008 07:35 AM
I'm still crying over Jin :( That scene was almost unbearable. I hope he managed to survive somehow. After all, this is LOST! I think the other person that Sun blames for the loss of Jin is Jack, based on what he said near then end about not being able to get everyone together to return to the island. He seemed to stop himself just short of saying Sun blamed him.
I kind of agree with Daniel's rating, only because so many of the things ended up exactly as everyone theorized they would, that some of it seemed a bit anti-climactic to me.
That said, I still thought it was a great episode. Maybe the people that post on here are just a little too good at figuring everything out ahead of time :)

anyone think that Sun is mad at Ben for causing the boat to blow up? And Desmond is mad at Ben because he kills Penny? So Sun and Desmond are both working to get revenge????
Posted by: Anonymous | May 30
Okay, that is sort of what I was going to post but "Anonymous" beat me to it. I promise that was NOT me. I don't know about thinking Ben killed Penny but I do think Sun is out for revenge over Jin's death. As for Vincent he was in the background with Ruth's husband, name blank??, when the last boat load left because I was saying, "No, don't leave poor Vincent behind!" NOW I will TRY and wait for Daniel's post...
Posted by: ME Too | May 30, 2008 07:37 AM
Yeah, dana michelle, that's what I noticed.
Les--Annie was part of the Dharma Initiative. When Ben was little, she was his best friend, and may have (probably had) a crush on her. He may or may not have killed her during the Purge. She looks like his mother a bit, as well as Juliet. The writers have said that she's important to the show.

Some of us have ancient computers and can't watch the alternate endings online. Can someone who's watched it post who the two alternate people in the casket were?
Thanks
Posted by: peppermint gomez | May 30, 2008 07:41 AM
I saw Vincent sitting next to someone as they were loading the last group into the dinghy. He's still on the island.
Posted by: Jasmine | May 30, 2008 07:41 AM
Alternate people were Sawyer & Desmond
Posted by: lostie | May 30, 2008 07:42 AM
I think Charlotte isn't Annie, but perhaps, somehow Whitmore's daughter? He was on the island once we are to assume, correct? Just a thought I had and can't get rid of...
Posted by: payter | May 30, 2008 07:43 AM
oh my god, i'm a 37 year old loser dork becuase I've been back here at least four times this morning, checking for a goofy blog entry!! I'm a VP in a billion dollar company and rather than work, all I can think about is "HAS DANIEL POSTED YET?? WHY HASN'T DANIEL POSTED YET!! GAAAHHH!!!" lol
I agree with the grumbles...this episode was a solid A!!
Posted by: JennyJen | May 30, 2008 07:49 AM
Sawyer and Desmond??? Thanks for posting it.
Was the Kate-reversing-the-car-and-coming-back-to-Jack-for-more-arguing a revised scene too? It doesn't seem that Kate's hostility toward Jeremy Bentham (expressed in that scene with Jack) would make sense if Jeremy is/was Sawyer or Desmond.
Posted by: peppermint gomez | May 30, 2008 07:50 AM
JennyJen--too funny!! I'm right there with you although I have you beat by about 8 years...! Yikes!! Thank god it's Friday and I work from home!
Posted by: Malone | May 30, 2008 07:53 AM
The alternate endings were not ever intended to be real - they were to throw off people like us if something leaked on the net before the show aired. So -- Jeremy Bantam was never Desmond or Sawyer, that was just for the sake of preserving the surprise (...right...) that it was Locke.
Posted by: Lindsey | May 30, 2008 07:53 AM
Lindsey - I'm with you. i also agree with peppermint gomez, Kate's reaction and attitude wouldn't have fit if it was sawyer or desmond.
Posted by: Jenn | May 30, 2008 07:56 AM
in the recruiting video on http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com/
actually shows someone punching in the lost numbers in to a computer! that is too funny to me ...8, 15, 16....
Posted by: haha | May 30, 2008 07:56 AM
A+ for me - my son and I watched it and thought it was amazing - loved to see Walt- he is HUGE! Sawyer is so sweet - did you see the way Kate looked at Jack when they said they were still overloaded - like he was so selfish - Claire has gained weight in death mode - Sun is an amazing actress and all I can say is can't wait till jan 09
Posted by: carol | May 30, 2008 07:56 AM
i was totally surprised it was locke in the coffin. yesterday i almost read all the spoilers for last night's episode because i was getting so anxious. i am so glad i didnt!! i enjoyed last night's show so much and loved the ending-total surprise. thought it was Michael the whole time.
Posted by: Sandy | May 30, 2008 07:57 AM
Who was the airline rep nodding to on the cargo plane? They showed that again last night, it must be significant.
Posted by: Anonymous | May 30, 2008 08:00 AM
i think it's kind of interesting that charlotte is looking for where she was born, but in the first episode of the season, didn't ben list off all her stats? including where she was born, somewhere in england? it's like they made a point of stating her "birthplace" earlier, as though to point out she has some lie about her backstory. also, i'd have to think that if she was annie, either her or ben would recognize the other, which they don't seem to...

At the risk of sounding like an obsessed nerd...the diary is up!!!!!
Posted by: Jenn | May 30, 2008 08:09 AM
remember a few episodes ago when ben kind of woke up in the desert, and it seemed like he had just landed there after moving the island. but it seemed immediately after he got back to town, he saw sayid at his wife's funeral, which really was at least a couple years after the O6 got back. so it seems like there's some sort of time warp there...
Posted by: cammies | May 30, 2008 08:10 AM
I expected the finale to clarify a lot of things, but it really didn't. The acting was amazing, but the only part in the entire episode that I really, really enjoyed was the conversation between Miles and Charlotte. Miles is starting to emerge as one of my favorite characters.
Something's not right with the "John Locke" death (obviously). Walt always knew John as John Locke, so why would he suddenly take to calling him Jeremy Bentham?
I don't know, guess we're going to be guessing until the very last episode of the very last season, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Sorry, just saw everyone else's comments! My question is answered. Help Daniel!
Posted by: cathead67 | May 30, 2008 08:30 AM
I believe it's working now. I just posted on it.
Posted by: Kasey | May 30, 2008 08:31 AM
Ok...how pathetic is this?! I just watched the 2 alternate endings and even though I KNOW who was really in the coffin after last night's show....my heart skipped a beat when I saw the 2 alternates. I think I would have stayed up all night crying my eyes out if it had been either one of them.
Posted by: Angel2480 | May 30, 2008 08:32 AM
Still not working for me.
Posted by: cathead67 | May 30, 2008 08:33 AM
There are still no comments on there Kasey, so I'm not sure it posted.
Posted by: cathead67 | May 30, 2008 08:36 AM
Here's a thought. When Locke and Ben were saying goodbye, Ben said, "Sorry for making your life so miserable." Did he mean his life on the island, or HIS ENTIRE LIFE. Since Richard was there at his birth, and again when he was older, can that mean that Ben and the island have had a hand in everything that has happened to him?????????
Posted by: RyanD | May 30, 2008 09:03 AM
What's up with Claire's face looking so round??
Posted by: Sus | May 30, 2008 09:46 AM
Ryan D - I noticed that too. The way Ben said it, it sounded like he'd had a hand in all the rotten things that have happened to John. The question is - was his role in John's life an effort to bring him to the island/his destiny? Or, to thwart that destiny so Ben would continue in that role?
