LDQA -- 6/12

Hi everybody (hi, Dr. Nick!). Sorry I took a few days off. When I planned out my schedule, I forgot to account for the fact was my mom was coming to LA for a few days (for the first time since 1980!) so I had to spend a little QT with moms. So here's the LDQA for the finale and I'll start with season 2 diaries beginning Monday 6/16 (and we'll do every Monday going forward).

Other random thoughts:

-- Dear Hollywood, stop reviving old franchises. Between the three "Star Wars" prequels and the new "Indiana Jones" movies, my childhood memories have been effectively ruined.

-- It looks like all things are go for season 2 of "In Treatment." It's not official yet, but it's gonna happen. If you were hesitant about On-Demanding a show that might not come back, go for it now. It's not for everyone, but I found it amazing.

-- Watched the first four "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" eps. Not good.

-- Since I have no life, I've also been re-watching "The Wire" and "Deadwood." TV at its finest.

-- "Funny Games" came out on DVD this week. If you like highly-sophisticated torture porn (I really don't know how else to describe it) than this is the movie for you. Quite possibly my favorite movie of the year so far.

Alright, let's roll ...

Q: What do you think will happen to Farraday, since he was out on the raft with the 'not named losties'? -- Michelle

A: Out of all the questions I got, I think people were most curious about what happened to Farraday when the island "moved." I don't think they're writing him off as a character -- at least I hope not -- so I imagine they'll put him on the island somehow. After all, he's got to get with Charlotte at some point. Nerd love!

Q: The craziest notion is running through my head that Charlotte is Ben's biological daughter.  They have the same intense maniacal quality along with the same kind of semi-protruding blue eyes.  My question is:  Are Charlotte and Ben related? -- Zelda

A: It would be interesting, considering she's "from the island" and he shot her and all. But I don't think that will quite be the connection.

Q: Why mention Boone, Libby and Charlie as the 3 people who made it off the plane but died on the island? (and why in a re-run of an episode with a small new scene?)  What’s the point of mentioning their names?  Why would Oceanic make the story more complicated, or was is Jack who decided to add them to the story? -- Amy

A: This is bothering THE HELL out of me. There was no reason at all to mention them. None. There are no bodies, so they didn't even need to say anyone else survived the crash. It makes no sense and I need it explained to me because I really thought that was an interesting Oceanic 6 hole for them to fill -- and then they did, and it was lame.

Q: I am lost – Please tell me who is Annie? I cannot remember?? I am dying here!!!? -- Laura

A: There are two types of "Lost" fans when it comes to Annie: those who think she will be INCREDIBLY important down the road, and those who have NO CLUE who she is. Annie is Ben's childhood friend from the island -- heck, his only friend. After the purge, she was never seen -- so where (and who) she is remains a mystery.

Q: Do you think Jin, Michael and maybe even Claire are really dead?  Someone posted that these people would be the persuasion to get Sun, Walt and Aaron back to the island.  What do you think? -- Sandra

A: Michael is dead. Jin is probably alive (cop out!!!!) and Claire is alive -- she has to be to fulfill Desmon's vision at some point. Just my predictions.

Q: Hi My Friend Daniel! I have LOADS of questions for the Q&A.. probably all eye rolling-ly mediocre.. but here goes:

1 – Is Desmond’s “Claire on Helicopter Vision” ever going to play out???… Is this a plot point that will just fizzle out and be forgotten?

2 – How strongly do you feel that we’ll see Jin again… ?

3- In your opinion… was I correct to shout “ITS ANNIE, SHE’S ANNIE!!” at the television set when Charlotte told Daniel that “she wants to know where she was born?”

A: Yes, very, and not crazy but I don't see it happening.

Q: I believed the writers stated in this episode that Jack clearly killed Locke.  My boyfriend just told me that wasn't the case.  Am I going mad?  I thought when Jack and Kate saw each other at the airport parking lot, she asked Jack why he did it (meaning why did he kill Jeremy Bentham) and he responded that he had to in order to protect Aaron.  Am I watching the same show as everyone else?  Did my brain add something that wasn't there?  I may have to watch again if you agree with my boyfriend and say I am wrong too. -- Melissa

A: Yeah, I am pretty sure you are having "Lost"-related dreams. Like I do, but with Kate.

Q: Ok so one thing I noticed which I'm extremely surprised you didn't catch (or did and just not comment) is something Jack said.  I forget who he was talking to and will rewatch it but his comment was that "Sun blames me for Jin's death".  Everyone was assuming the two people that Sun blames were her father and most likely Widmore.  Could this be a twist no one really sees coming or am I just reading too much into that line?  I'd like to hear your response to that.  Keep up the great work! -- Evan

A: If that's true that Sun does blame him for Jin, I can totally see it. Kate was going back to get Jin, but Jack stopped her. If he hadn't stopped her, in Sun's mind, Jin might still be alive.

Q: Okay….So when do we see how Sayid kills Penny?  I’ve been waiting for that since Sayid was coerced by Ben to be his henchman and when Ben said chillingly “Penny is her name , right?” to Widmore in the Penthouse that evening. Does he do it in front of Desmond???? Come on brutha? This is gonna happen and it’s gonna be breathtaking…..I think? -- Steven

A: If this happens, "Lost" will be the greatest show of all-time. Period.

Q: How convenient that Claire's mom finally got out of her coma in time to hit up Christian's funeral. How did NO ONE in Australia know that Claire was pregnant? -- M

A: This was huge to me -- she was in a coma for awhile and then POOF she shows up in time for Christian's funeral. Poor.

Q: When the hatch broke, didn't it make that same "white light" and noise thing happen?  Does this mean that putting those "numbers" in the computer stopped the island from moving, not necessarily saving the world? -- Barbara

A: Yes, I'd say the light thing was very similar, but I don't think they are connected in that way. But, when the hatch exploded, that's what made the island visible to the outside world, so maybe they are related somehow.

Q: Do you think Locke is really dead?  By that I mean, is it really him in the coffin?  We all know the elaborate cover-ups that have taken place on Lost, so putting a wax figure in a box (or something along those lines) would be possible. -- Vivian

A: It's him. This is "Lost," not "Dallas."

Q: Do you care if you get a back story for Rousseau now? Or is she someone you think is just gone now?! -- Kelly

A: I definitely still care about her. I think the only way we might get more backstory on her is through someone else's flashback. RIP crazy French lady.

Q: We’ve (presumably) seen everything on-island where Hurley could “go with Locke” – to where in the sequence of events was Hurley referring? -- Bryan

A: This is a bit of a hole for me as well. I'm not sure what Hurley could have meant by that or where in the timeline he could have done anything different that would have really affected anything. That line feels like a total mistake for me now.

Q: During "The Man Behind the Curtain" you had said:

Whenever I watch an episode of "24," and Jack Bauer is put in a life or death situation/cliffhanger, I always laugh. Really, they're going to kill Jack Bauer? Come on. So is John Locke an unkillable character on "Lost"? Are certain characters easier to kill of than others? Yes and Yes. Let me explain:

Locke is one of the two most indispensable characters on "Lost" (Henry Gale being the other). Those two characters, more so than any others on the show, are connected with what is happening on the island. They are the ones that are most rooted in the entire essence of the show; the island itself. Juliet, Desmond and Hurley are up there, Sayid and Sun, too. But those two are the heart and soul of the show right now.

Since the coffin reveal, how do you now feel about this sentiment? -- Gretchen

A: Great question! Look, Locke is dead now, I see that. But it really depends when "now" is next season on "Lost." Is "now" right after everyone leaves the island, so that Locke's death only exists in fastforwards? Is Locke's death "now" and what happened right after they left the island is what we see in flashbacks? Locke will still be prevalent next season -- I HOPE!!!! Ok, my head kinda hurts now.

Q: So I looked at the alternate endings, and thought to myself “What would be the weirdest alternate ending?” What if it was Jack in the coffin, and Jack was looking at his dead self? -- Dave

A: I'd stop watching.

Ok, so I have a couple of comments about your answers to some of the questions. The biggest one having to do with Boone, Charlie and Libby. I was reading TV Diva Kristin & Eonline and she said that those 3 have some sort of deal where they may return in later seasons, thus giving us different flashbacks (since they're dead and can't do flash-forwards). This to me makes sense because we NEED to establish why Libby was in the mental institution. There has to be some purpose to her being there other than for us to notice it. Afterall, she was the one that sold Desmond the boat that he was going to go around the world in that eventually led him to the island.

As for Claire, I think is she is as dead as Christian is and for some unexplainable Lost reason is still hanging around like Christian.

**SPOILER**
I also read somewhere that Claire will not be around for season 5 but will be back in season 6. So do with that what you will.

I agree stacey - They will be re-visiting Libby for sure. "Darlton" has said that many, many times. It makes perfect sense that they said she survived.
Also the other 2, Boone & Charlie will be back with flashbacks I think as well. They have to tie up Desmond & Charlie also Boone can flashback to how Shannon's dad died in the ER while Jack helped Sarah instead of him....maybe. But there IS a point as to WHY they named the other 3 who survived. Since when do they do anything on LOST without a point.

We will see a flashback for Rousseau. That also has been said by "Darlton".

Q: So I looked at the alternate endings, and thought to myself “What would be the weirdest alternate ending?” What if it was Jack in the coffin, and Jack was looking at his dead self? -- Dave

A: I'd stop watching.

DANIEL - Really????? You'd stop watching if Jack was in the coffin & his present self was looking at his future self? NO, YOU WOULD NOT........how cool is that?!.Where have you ever seen that before?! I think that would have been pretty cool, actually. But, I HEART JACK so anything with Jack is cool to me. :)

Gotta go for now! GAME 4 of the NBA series is effing awesome. GO LAKERS! :)

OK-So I said the same thing about Jack being in the coffin and "seeing himself"-would be quite an ending and I got shot down to hell!! Thanks Dave-great minds think a like!! ha-ha (I really think I have seen that in some movie somewhere) Daniel-you would soooo think that was way cool-sorry!!

haha! that sucks about your Lakers.

Sorry. I felt kinda bad after posting that. =(

Daniel is back!

Hey! I should have asked this a long time ago... but does anyone remember the episode where Keamy was preparing for the second protocol? Sorry I can't remember what episode this was... but I am sure when he opened the book, the first page was a "Darma" page. My theory is that Widmore is behind the whole Darma Initiative. Don't know how that plays into anything yet, but I believe its a big deal.

both hurley & jack want to get back but they cant cuz the island moved...maybe hurley feels somewhat responsible for that since he went with them.

Anon, yeah, there was a Dharma page, and the cover had the Dharma logo on it as well. So that makes it likely that Widmore had something to do with it.
Oh, and the episode was "Cabin Fever", which, in my humble opinion, was one of the best episodes, simply because it had Keamy shirtless, which was indescribably HOTTTT! What can I say, I love him. :)
