There's No Place Like Home -- Part 2 & 3

Is it really all about to end? A strike-shortened season that gave us the Freighter Tots, flashforwards and "If anything goes wrong, Desmond Hume is my constant" is about to end. It's been an interesting season, to say the least, and it's safe to say I am at a Defcon 1 level of excitement right now.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes: I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. Ari and Lauren are in back in the mix tonight, but Lauren has to leave as soon as the show ends to catch a midnight showing of "SATC." If I was smart, I'd show up at the theater at 2:00 AM to pick up girls. Let's roll ...

9:00 -- I've always thought last year's finale was good, but not great. But during tonight's "Previously on 'Lost'" montage, the clips of Jack at the coffin and him screaming "We have to go back!" gave me chills. I am soooooo ready for this.

There's No Place Like Home -- Part 1

I used to be super excited for "Lost" every week, but this season hasn't left me with that "Oh my God 'Lost' is on tonight!" feeling like it used to. But after last week's great episode -- and knowing that we're down the wire here -- has me back to my old level of excitement about tonight's episode.

Forget the preamble -- let's roll:

10:02 -- I am immediately in love with this episode. We're going to get to see how the Oceanic 6 get re-introduced into society. I am already at the edge of my seat.

Cabin Fever

**ARGH!!!! Site has been down all morning. I posted this as soon as I could. Damn you, Internet!

I've had a really hard time writing this part of the Diary and I think that goes back to the fact that I have had a hard time putting my finger on this season. Flashforwards are unpredictable, the Losties are spread out in many different places, the Freighter is looming and Jacob is hanging over my head worse than final exams. I don't think I have had less of a clue of what is going to happen from week to week than I do now.

Something Nice Back Home

Welcome to another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes: I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. Ari and Lauren are in Costa Rica, so I am flying solo tonight. Let's roll ...

The Shape of Things to Come

My friend Chris has been great about IMing me the morning of "Lost" and giving me a good one-liner that really sets me up for this blog. Thursday morning he only sent me this: "I totally forgot that 'Lost 'started back up tonight. That's like f**king Christmas." Couldn't have said it better myself.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes: I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. I am watching tonight's episode of "Lost" solo -- I needed to watch the East Coast feed so I wouldn't end up staying up all night. Gotta get my shuteye. Let's roll:

10:02 -- Previously on "Lost" has never been so useful. I almost forgot what was going on, it's been so long. So there was a plane crash, right?

Meet Kevin Johnson

I took off Thursday and Friday from work so I can stay home for four days straight and watch nothing but college basketball. Now that "Lost" is on, I kind of don't know what to do. Who would be the four number one seeds in the "Lost" tournament? I go with Ben, Locke, Jack and Sayid -- I think they best represent what "Lost" is about. I'd have to put Widmore in my Final 4 though somehow, he's becoming more and more of a player as things go on.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes: I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. I am watching tonight's episode of "Lost" alone as Lauren is MIA and Ari wanted to wait and watch with her. Lauren's commitment to "Lost" is embarrassing these days and frankly I think it's time I take the show on the road once "Lost" comes back from hiatus. Anyone got room on their couch for me? I'll bring the chips! Let's roll ...

LostAfter this episode, we only have one more left until we go on Writers Strike hiatus. It's been a good run so far and I will be curious to see how the writers adjust after the hiatus. Here's a suggestion: Answer some questions. Just a thought.

Another Woman

"So because last week's 'Lost' was so good, does that automatically mean that this week's has to suck?"

That was the IM I got from my friend Chris on Thursday morning and now I have the fear of God in me. Is it possible? Can "Lost" be that good last week and this week too? One can only hope ...

The Constant

Hey, it's Daniel here, back with another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

To battle through the doldrums of the week, several TMZ staffers compete in a weekly tournament of a game we invented called Dartball. I had never won a Dartball tournament until February 1 -- the day after "Lost" premiered. I have now won four in a row, meaning I am undefeated for as long as "Lost" has been on this year. Coincidence?

Eggtown

Hey, it's Daniel here, back with another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

I want to touch on two things I mentioned last week -- real quick. First, I like the flashforwards, but I don't think I want them to be an every week thing. I'd still like flashbacks on Danielle, Richard and Ben, at the least. Second, if "The Economist" scored a solid 9.5 on the Creepy Episode Title Scale, then "Eggtown" is 2.5. I almost hope this episode sucks so I don't ever have to say, "You know, 'Eggtown' is one of the best episodes of 'Lost' ever." Ugh, even typing that hurt a little.

The Economist

Hey, it's Daniel here, back with another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

I believed in my heart of hearts that last night's episode of "Lost" was going to be epic. I even told someone at work as much. Now, mind you, this is based on nothing. I haven't seen one commercial, read one article, or heard one thing to make me believe this. But I had two "reasons" for believing it anyway. First, the first two episodes of the season were appetizers. They were good, but I am far from full. Second, tonight's episode is called "The Economist." WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!? It's a perfect 10 on the creepy scale.

Confirmed Dead

Hey, it's Daniel here, back with another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

In the week since the premiere aired, I think I've had about 1,500 conversations about "Lost." I don't understand how people watch the show on DVD and just plow through episode after episode. I need the full week to digest what just happened.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes: I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. Tonight I am watching the show by myself -- time constraints prevented me from watching it with the whole crew.

Then there's this: I'm hosting "TMZ" tonight. Weird, right? Click here to find out when it's on in your area.

Let's roll:

6:01 -- With the title of this episode being "Confirmed Dead," I have a feeling this underwater camera we're looking it is looking for the survivors of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. As Naomi said last season, everyone thinks they're dead -- and as I said, someone probably went through a lot of trouble to make that happen. This could be that story.
Lost
6:02 -- Yup, it's the plane. Wow, a major prediction of mine from last season has just been proven right. Hang on a sec while I pat myself on the back ... Ok, done.

The Beginning of the End

Hey it's Daniel here with the first edition of the "Lost" Diary for 2008 -- man, that felt good to write.

If you're like me -- a crazy TV fan with more season passes on his TiVo than you can keep track of -- 2008 is off to a terrible start. The writer's strike has basically grounded TV to a halt. "The Moment of Truth" and "American Gladiators" will never be shown on my TV, ever. So the premiere of a "Lost," an event unto itself, takes on extra meaning this year.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. Since I've moved into a nice new place, complete with a brand new comfy couch, I am hosting tonight's festivities -- just Ari and Lauren (aka the "Lost" Nazi). I couldn't be any more excited. Let's roll:

9:00 -- Previously on "Lost" features Charlie's death (memories, like the corners of my mind) and Ben uttering the words "Making that call is the beginning of the end." Not only is that the title of tonight's episode, but given what Jack's flash forward showed us, it's also the theme of the season.

Through the Looking Glass

Time for the final season 3 "Lost" Diary of the year. Tear ...

Earlier this year, I wrote that there are four times when I am super-mega excited for an episode of "Lost": a season premiere, a season finale, the week after a great episode and the week after a terrible one. I need to add a fifth instance: when the season finales of "24" and "Heroes" suck. Such a total letdown on both fronts. I was angry about "Heroes" for two days straight -- all that buildup was for that? Very disappointed. Needless to say, if "Lost" doesn't deliver the goods I am going to have to be severely medicated for my own protection.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week the crew is Ari, Lauren, Marisa, April, Matt and Michelle (making her debut). It's two hours of "Lost" goodness tonight. Let's roll:
Lost
9:01 -- Jack is headed back to Los Angeles (on Oceanic Air, mind you) and with a full beard. Looks like he stole it from Mr. Friendly's fake beard collection.

Greatest Hits

Time for another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

Tonight's episode is a Charlie flashback one, so obviously I am anticipating his (hopefully painful) demise. If you haven't been with me since the beginning, I hate Charlie. I think his character is useless on the show and it doesn't help things that the actor who plays him is dating Evangeline Lilly, who plays Kate. You can't be the worst character on one of my favorite shows AND date someone that hot. Just ain't right. So I apologize in advance if I spend half this episode begging for Charlie to die.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week the crew is Ari, Lauren, Marisa, April and Matt. April made cupcakes tonight and Charlie might die -- what more could I want?. Let's roll:
Lost
10:00 -- "No matter what I do, you're gonna die, Charlie." -- Desmond, from a few weeks back. Please don't be a liar, Desmond. Please, please, please.

The Man Behind the Curtain

Time for another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

Have I mentioned how awesome you guys are? I've got two reasons. First of all, you got my back. Someone posted a comment about the Henry Gale/Ben thing, and there were comments galore defending me. I thought about relenting and just calling him Ben, but then one person wrote: "If Daniel ever starts calling Henry Gale 'Ben,' I will cry. It's now a point of honor." Amen to that, brutha.

The other thing I love is that you guys have quietly formed a great little community of "Lost" fans here, and I think we need to do more with it. More on that later on in the article.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week the crew is Ari, Lauren, Marisa, April and Matt. Let's roll:

10:00 -- I'm a guy, so I will never fully understand the rigors of childbirth, but I have to assume that giving birth in the jungle doesn't help matters.
Lost
10:02 -- "Call him Benjamin." -- Emily. So I guess Henry Gale wasn't really born on the island.

The Brig

Time for another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

So I try and avoid promos and commercials as best I can, but they always find a way to creep in. This week, some people posted on TMZ about a confrontation between Locke and Sawyer. With Locke's dad looming on the island, I have to assume that this could be the week we learn that Locke's dad is the original Sawyer (the man who conned Sawyer's parents, driving his dad to kill his mom, then himself). If that's the case, tonight's episode could be off the charts.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes: I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way.

This week it's a special East Coast edition of the Diary. I am back in Queens, N.Y. for the week, so I am not with the usual crew. Instead, I am watching with just one other person; my mom. If she says anything about Sawyer along the same lines as Lauren usually does, it would be uncomfortable. Let's roll:
Lost
10:00 -- The "previously on 'Lost'" goes through Locke's history, so I imagine this will be the night we find out what he's been up to since we last saw him.

D.O.C.

Time for another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

While we were watching "Lost" last week, Ari joked that when Charlie "died," all the Diary readers were probably thinking of me. And, lo and behold, I got several comments last week like this one: "Man when I saw the arrow go in Charlie's neck I was saying to myself Daniel is going to so love this." Or this one: "The first thing I thought of when Charlie was shot in the neck was 'Daniel is going to be so happy.' "

You guys are the best, really. And the offer still stands: When Charlie really does die, party at my house.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. We got the OG crew back together this week: Ari, Lauren, April and Matt. Let's roll:
Lost
10:00 -- We're all curious about what's going to happen with Sun's pregnancy. Who is the dad? Will the Others want her or her child? Will she survive the pregnancy? Now Jack is curious too. A little too curious, maybe?

Catch 22

Time for another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

To clear up a little confusion: I know that Henry Gale's real name is Benjamin Linus, I just prefer Henry Gale. I can't quite explain why, but as soon as I heard the name "Benjamin Linus" I just said, "Uh-uh, no way." So I proclaimed way back when I first my wrote diary that I would always refer to him as Henry Gale -- I just think it sounds better. Sorry if I ruffled any feathers.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week I'm working with the skeleton crew of myself and Ari. Let's roll:
Lost
10:00 -- The intro is all about how Desmond thinks Charlie is going to die. Is this the night I have been waiting for?

10:01 -- Charlie and Hurley are having a stupid comic book argument when Charlie gets shot in the throat with an arrow. It can't happen like this, can it? This has to be a dream, right?

One of Us

Hey, it's Daniel here, back with another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

Last week I asked you guys about your favorite connection between two castaways. A lot of you went with Jack and Claire as siblings. That one is OK, but I have to go with Libby in the insane asylum with Hurley. I still want an answer to that one.

For all of you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week I am with Ari, Lauren and April. Lauren had two glasses of wine beforehand, so I don't think she'll be contributing anything meaningful tonight. Let's roll:
Lost
10:00 -- Jack and Kate decide to go get firewood, leaving Sayid and Juliet behind. Do you think they'll exchange pleasantries or will Sayid just go straight into interrogation mode?

10:01 -- The correct answer was "interrogation mode." I'm glad Sayid doesn't believe in verbal foreplay.

Left Behind

Time for another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

I argued with quite a few friends over last week's episode. Most of them (and a lot of you) said that I was off, and that last week's show was actually really good. I had a hard time explaining my side until I read James Poniewozik, a blogger for Time.com. He wrote, "Last night's was a really cool episode of 'Lost.' That is a different thing, however, from a really good episode of 'Lost.'"

Sums it up perfectly. If someone can skip an episode of "Lost" and pick right up next week without having missed anything (because certainly no one will miss Nikki and Paulo), then that's not a good episode.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week it's the usual crew -- Ari, Lauren and April -- except Matt is at the Lakers game, and my old college roommate Chris is in town. Let's roll:
Lost
10:00 -- It may have only lasted five seconds, but a chick fight is still a chick fight. Good times.

10:01 -- So the "Previously on 'Lost'" was about Sawyer, but we're getting a Kate flashback this week. That's kinda weird. Think Kate and Sawyer's ex will cross paths?

Exposé

Welcome back to another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

Not sure how many sports fans we have here on TMZ, but let me make an analogy for you. After two amazing episodes of "Lost," I have been walking around as if my favorite team just won the championship. I've got a permanent smile on my face, I talk trash to people who don't watch the show -- I am even close to getting a jersey with the numbers "4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42" written on the back. My show is the best and I know it! Bring on all challengers!

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week it's just me and Ari, so I'll have to imagine what Lauren would say every time Sawyer comes on screen. Let's roll:

10:00 -- Starting off right in the thick of it, Nikki is frantically burying something. If I am going to have to watch a whole episode of Nikki and Paulo, it better be good.
Lost
10:01 -- Ok, Nikki as a stripper is a step in the right direction. You never realize how attractive someone is when you spend all your time wishing they never existed.

The Man from Tallahassee

Time for another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

This week's comments were fun to read since someone tossed out the theory that Jack and Claire's dad, Christian, could be "him" or Jacob. There are two things that support this (and a dozen probably don't). First, he is involved in the flashbacks of Jack, Claire, Sawyer and Ana Lucia. That's a lot of coincidences there. Second, when Jack found his dad's coffin among the plane wreckage, it was empty. So I'm not saying ... I'm just saying.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week I am with the usual crew of Ari, Lauren, April and Matt. Lauren is giddy to the point where she might pass out. Let's roll:

10:00 -- It's Locke flashback time. Fans are divided on almost every character on this show, but does anyone hate Locke? He's most people's favorite character.

Par Avion

Welcome to my new website, TheLostDiary.com. I will be writing this weekly column here from now on, so bookmark the site and tell all your friends.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week I am with the usual crew of Ari, Lauren, Matt and April. Let's roll:

10:00 -- The "previously on 'Lost'" just reminded us that Charlie is going to die. My birthday is one month from tonight, so if ABC was thinking of getting me an early birthday present, that would certainly be it.

10:01 -- It's quite the uplifting beginning start to the show as Claire's flashback shows her mom seemingly dead from a car accident. Promos for this week (I tried to avoid them, and failed) say that we'll learn a connection between two Losties. Claire will apparently be one of them.

10:02 -- Charlie was saying something to Claire about breakfast on the beach -- but I was blinded with rage, so I didn't catch the details.

10:03 -- "No, I like dogs." -- Locke. Nice to see Locke still has a pair. I was beginning to wonder.

10:04 -- Desmond interrupts Charlie and Claire, presumably to try and save Charlie's life -- which, of course, won't win Desmond any points with me. Oh, and according to Claire, a flock of birds is apparently the key to getting everyone off the island. Why didn't anyone think of it sooner?

10:08 -- While Claire is explaining "The Bird Plan," it finally dawns on Charlie why Desmond wants him to go hunting. Any chance Desmond is trying to lure Charlie into the woods to shoot him? Any at all?

Enter 77

Time for another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

A lot of the comments said I was too harsh on last week's episode. Now, I did find myself enjoying the episode as it unfolded, but when it was done, and I realized nothing had really happened, I was pissed off. "Lost" is (was?) the kind of show where you absolutely could not miss a single episode or else you wouldn't know what was going on the following week. You could have easily skipped the last two shows and been fine and that's just not what "Lost" is about. Thus, that's the reason I hated last week's show.

This week I am with the usual crew of Ari, Lauren and Matt. Lauren had a dream that tonight's episode of "Lost" would be good. So assuming Lauren can predict the future, we're in for a good show. Let's roll:

10:00 -- Sawyer is mulling around the beach and acting pissy. He calls the new guy "Zorro," and it has now officially reached the point where Sawyer's nickname-calling has jumped the shark for me.

10:01 -- Sayid, Locke, Kate and Rousseau are making their way through the woods, looking for the Others. Note to the producers: more Locke, please!

10:03 -- Old MacOther had a farm, E-I-E-O.

Tricia Tanaka Is Dead

I have come up with the theory that there are four times when I am super-mega excited for an episode of "Lost": a season premiere, a season finale, the week after a great episode and the week after a terrible one. So since last week's ep was such a dud, consider me super-mega excited for this week.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week the usual crew of Ari, Lauren and Matt is back together. Let's roll:

10:00 -- Cheech is Lil' Hurley's dad, and apparently, he thinks you can fix cars just by wishing. He's been hanging around Chong too much if you ask me.

10:01 -- Lil' Hurley's dad sneaks him a candy bar. So of all the mysteries of "Lost," is this the episode where we learn why Hurley is fat? Food isn't love, little guy.

Stranger in a Strange Land

After last week's epic episode, I am psyched for this week. "Lost" is back (back, meaning good again) and I couldn't be happier.

There were some unbelievably great comments last week. Some notes on a few of them:

-- A ton of you said that you thought of me immediately when you heard about Charlie's impending death. OK, so not only do I obsess over the potential death of a fictional television character, but now even total strangers I have never met know it too.

-- Most of you agree Charlie should die, but it seems the second most disliked character is Kate. She has gotten pretty annoying and all she's good for is being held at gunpoint.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. This week the usual crew of Ari, Lauren and Matt is back together -- kinda like Van Halen reuniting, only none of us play any instruments. Let's roll:

10:00
-- Kate wants Sawyer to turn the boat around to go back and rescue Jack (predictable) while Karl is babbling incoherently about God and Jacob. When was the last time Kate said something where she wasn't whining?

Flashes Before Your Eyes

Doesn't the week go by faster when you have "Lost" to look forward to?

There were a lot of really great comments after last week's diary. A few responses to some of the better ones:

-- Yes, I completely left out the line where Mr. Friendly said, "Ever since the sky turned purple..." Obviously it's a very important line, and I just forgot to include it.

-- No, I really didn't see the bus accident coming and I didn't even put two and two together until right before Juliet did. I don't notice everything.

-- The mystery I most want solved is how Locke ended up in the wheelchair. I know it's not the biggest one, and I know it will probably be a letdown, but I am dying to know what happened.

This week, my usual crew is splintered because of Valentine's Day, so I am left to watch "Lost" by myself. Looks like Desmond is my Valentine this year! Let's roll:

10:01 -- We're back on the beach this week, which means I have to put up with Charlie. Locke just broke the news of Eko's death, which feels like it happened years ago at this point.

10:03 -- Desmond is freaking out and running through the jungle before he dives into the ocean, presumably to help Kate, Karl and Sawyer. He's not the only one that can see the future!

Not in Portland

Did you miss me? More importantly, did you miss "Lost?"

Flashback to Tuesday afternoon, 2:00 PM. My co-worker, Evan, asked me, "Do you know what happens in 24 hours?" "No," I said. "It'll be eight hours until 'Lost.'"

"Lost" is back, baby!

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes. I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way.

I'm gathered tonight with Ari (our host), Lauren (the "Lost" Nazi), and Matt (no clever title). Let's roll:

10:00 -- We open with Juliet crying on the beach. Lauren immediately says, "I don't want to see a backstory on this bitch." Nice. Juliet then heads into one of the bunkers, passing Ethan in the hall, to check on a patient (played by Robin Weigert from "Deadwood"). I am guessing she has that strange island illness.

Every Man for Himself

Back again with another edition of the "Lost" diary. Hard to believe that after tonight we'll only have two more episodes left before a 13 week hiatus. On one hand, no "Lost" will suck. On the other hand, "Daybreak" looks cool and I am a huge Taye Diggs fan (fellow Syracuse grad). But 13 weeks? That's like trying to quit smoking cold turkey.

So yesterday morning I received two nearly identical instant messages from friends of mine. The message was simple: this better be good. "Lost" has had three episodes that have been below par (except for "those five minutes") -- and the ratings have echoed that. This episode might be the most anticipated non-premiere or finale so far.

As always, I gather with a group of friends to watch the show and keep track of what happens. Tonight's crew: Ari, Lauren (aka Sawyer's future ex-wife) and April. On with the show ...

9:00 -- We open up on Desmond as he stares at Claire and Aaron, no doubt pondering the future. His offer to fix Claire's roof are shot down -- just a guess, but I am thinking they should have listened to him.

9:02 -- Jack is still in captivity, watching cartoons and seemingly fighting psychological warfare with psychological warfare. I think he might be getting to Juliet. Meanwhile, the Others are a little pissed about Sun shooting Colleen. Understandable.

9:04 -- "Sounding a little stuffy there, Chinatown." Sawyer. Seriously, Sawyer must subscribe to Netflix or something.

The Glass Ballerina

Welcome back to week two of the "Lost" diary, I am your "Lost" tour guide Daniel. With last week's mildly disappointing (to me at least) premiere behind us, gotta say I am pretty psyched for this week's episode to see what some of our other castaways are up to.

Going back to last week for a second, I got a few comments about my remark that I threw up after Jack asked about his ex-wife at the end of the episode. Look, I get choked up by television more times than I care to admit, and "Lost" has certainly done it to me from time to time, but last week's attempt at drawing out emotion was just silly.

Let's look at the situation: you survive a plane crash and spend the next two months being terrorized by "monsters" and a gang of island inhabitants known as the Others. Then they kidnap you and your friends and drug you. One of them shows you a file with everything you have ever done in your life in it and asks you if you want to know anything ... and you ask if your ex is happy? Are you kidding me? How about, "Hey, what's with the crazy black smoke monster?" Or maybe, "Um, what did you do with the children you kidnapped?" It's just bad TV, plain and simple.

As always, I watch "Lost" with a group of friends and keep track of what happens. Tonight I am joined by Ari, Lauren, Matt, April, Dana and Jason. On with the show ...

9:00 -- It's Sun flashback time -- or should I say Lil' Sun flashback time. The title of the episode isn't too hard to figure out this time, as Lil' Sun broke a glass ballerina and blamed it on the maid.

A Tale of Two Cities

It's that time of year again -- "Lost" is back!!! Welcome to the "Lost" Diary.

Here's how this works: Every week I gather with a group of friends to watch "Lost." I keep a running diary of what happens on the show, throw out some theories and jokes along the way, and hopefully the rest of the peanut gallery chips in with some good stuff. Maybe you do the same thing each week, maybe you don't have any friends who watch "Lost" -- either way, this is the place for all people to sound off on the most addictive show on TV.

I am joined this week by the usuals and a couple of newbies: Ari (our host), Lauren (the "Lost" Nazi) and Matt (be sure to check him out on the new CBS online dating show "Hook Me Up" beginning next week! Couldn't resist.) along with April and Sonia making their debuts.

Enough with the foreplay, let's get to the Diary...

9:00 -- Previously on "Lost" is very Others-centric. Obviously the theme for season three is the Others and I couldn't be more excited. Right now if I had to rank the best characters on TV, Henry Gale would be top 5. Charlie would be somewhere around 10,451.

9:01 -- The opening scene mirrors the opening scene from last season. A character we don't know doing seemingly normal things. Except this time, there are other people involved. And then Oceanic Flight 815 crashes and the Others spring to action. This scene actually goes with my idea for a Henry Gale spin-off show. I picture Gale as a modern day Archie Bunker in an updated version "All in the Family." Except instead of Edith, he lives with his partner, Mr. Friendly.
