@Tootsie, so is that really Ben or is it a photo of his Bobblehead doll? Can't tell. :)
Seriously, what is this picture saying. Are we going back to the time when the Hatch was active on the island? Ben's shirt looks like it was purchased at Macy's in 2010. Not very retro? (Just saying, am I reading too much into a publicity photo? No clues here, look away, look away).
YAY BEN! I've missed him so. I hope all the Benwagoners are rallying the. Unfortunately the bf will be home on Feb 2 so we know what that means...he will be banished upstairs and must remain silent or else he will be branded!
The anticipation is killing me. Its worse than it was at the end of season 5. I have 1 1/2 weeks to get everything urgent done at the new/old job so that I can spend all of Feb 3 on here.
@ fanolost - the pic does look a little bobbleheadish.
On Jan. 13th I wrote to LSK:
"LSK - HA... I want Keamy back too... just for you if nothing else. Plus I think Ben's eyes would explode if he saw him again..."
Now look at the picture above. Is he perhaps looking into the eyes of Keamy???
Maybe Ben has gotten a taste of his own medicine, a' la Karl , Alex's boyfriend, by being forced to watch brainwashing videos in Room 23. Thus the crazy eyes, like Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange.
Also I see Mr. Factual is back in the building-Yeah!!!!
I so look forward to our discussions on WHH-cause from what I’ve heard on the various blogs-everything has been thrown out the window, “so to speak”-so I’m not sure if any of us will be correct in any of our opinions???
And if they really do “reboot”, all of us with computers know that sometimes when you do “reboot”-you don’t come back to exactly the same thing you just had????
@ Tootsie- If we forget about the studio production values of the Ben photo shoot and just go with the bare bones- Ben standing on top of an occupied Hatch- what is the message? Is this a clue? I haven't read any of the blogs but what if Miles was right. What if Jack and Juliet et all created the Incident. What if whatever happens happens. Then what will we see from LOST in the first episode. We know Phil was killed in the last episode, and Radzinsky's jeep flipped. Stuart certainly could have survived. So are they transported by the blast and the effect of the released Electromagnetism to somewhere in the future. Big question if this happened is it pre- or post 1992 (gas attack that wipes out the Dharma) Who is inside that lighted hatch? We know Radzinsky builds the Swan and occupies it with Kelvin Inman for a long time, but that had to be closer to 1992 then 1977 when the Incident took place. I'm guessing Des isn't down there because he's not listed as a cast memeber (at least not for the opening episodes of the Season). There are so many variables here. Or do we just start out in 1977 and does Locke take over the leadership of the Hostiles from Richard Alpert. Richard has seen the aluminum casket with the real Locke's dead body, does he rebell against the MiB possessed Locke's leadership, or does he just accept and move forward. This could all make for an interesting season opener. As long as they don't all wake up on Flight 815 landing safely at LAX, I'm cool with the journey.
Of course, none of that would explain how Ben ends up standing over an occupied hatch, unless the Ben pictured isn't present-day Ben, but rather past-Ben from ten years or so previous? Maybe its just a cool promotion shot with no other value, like the Sports Illustrated swim suit edition???? Like that.
The ominous picture of Ben standing over the hatch has me thinking of Locke, going back to his time frame. When Locke and Boone discover the hatch, and when Locke blows it open,to reveal the Swan, Locke is a changed man. He starts to become very secretive and casting major doubts about his honesty.
He starts to have dreams or maybe an epiphany as to what his life's work is to be. At the Swan, he smashes the computer, whick leads to the lockdown. Boone dies, Eko dies. At the Pearl, he sees Mikhail on the monitor, and goes to the Flame. Playing chess on that computer he triggers the destruction of the Flame, and in the end Mikhail dies.
Locke blows up the submarine. He is now very deceptive in his motives. His actions have resulted in major destruction and fatal consequences.
Could the backgammon game with Walt, and Locke pointing out that there are two players, one light and one dark or the chess game on the computer be more of an allegory?
If Locke is MiB, then it makes sense and Locke is using his pawns or foot soldiers to do the dirty work to move one step closer. Now I am Lost more than ever.
so what was the dealio with Amy's first husband Paul - he was wearing an Ankh necklace - the one she took from him when they gave his body to Richard. Horace got drunk when he found it in the sock drawer the night Ethan was born. Paul was an other we are to assume? A Romeo and Juliet between the hostiles and Dharma Initiative? paul was shot due to choosing the DI over being a "hostile". interesting since Ben left DI for the hostiles. so Ethan was spared then during the purge?
@sk- I would love to see a MiB back story, maybe from the perspective of when he first became interested in Locke. Seems either Locke's dark moods may have been influenced by him or the darkness inside Locke attracted MiB to him? Also, who was in the cabin when Locke and Ben visited "Jacob". Was it Jacob or MiB?
@victoria- I'm kind of hoping that the force of the thermonuclear blast combined with the release of electromagnetic waves (The Incident) results in time skipping again, so we can finally learn how the DI evolved and what happened in the Hostile camp after the Purge in 1992. Are all our questions going to be answered. NFW. Its interesting to listen to Cuse and Lindelhof immitate Jacob and MiB when they are interviewed. When they announced that Libby's character would be back for the second half of the final season, Cuse said all of our questions regarding Libby would be answered and in the next sentence, Lindelhof said they would not. Black and white, two sides of the same coin. Dueling writers/producers? Maybe they are the models for Jacob and MiB for the writing staff.
Do you think that the reason that Locke manipulated Sawyer to kill his father, Cooper, has anything to do with Locke giving him his kidney?
Locke could not personally do the deed because he would have been offing a little piece of himself, literally, by killing Cooper.
And Locke's organ donation to Cooper ended up saving his life in the long run, when Ben shot him in the pit... Where in the hell did Ben get that gun from anyways???
@sk- not sure why Locke couldn't kill Cooper. He sure didn't hesitate to terminate Naomi with extreme prejudice when the time called for it. In regards to where Ben got the pistol, maybe he brought it with him when they trekked to the cabin, or maybe under a fake rock like the signal mirror and the stale saltines?
@sk, I think Ben had gotten that gun at Camp Others. They had left from camp to the cabin and then did the walk-by at the pit, where John got shot... not totally sure though.
Below are quotes from Cuse & Lindelof. I'm taking them from an article in USA Today published on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 (the day of the season finale).
About Sayid, Lindelof says, "He shoots young Ben not to prevent him from becoming old Ben, but because he was emotionally tortured by this guy. Sayid isn't thinking about creating a paradox."
About Locke: Resurrected and supremely confident in 2007 (present day for Lost), he leads the Others to meet (and kill) Jacob with Ben in tow. "Locke seems to be in very serious communion with the island and hopefully, by the end of the finale, the audience will understand why," Cuse says.
Ben: A significant question: Why doesn't adult Ben remember being shot by Sayid or having lived with Sawyer and Juliet? The show hasn't answered that yet, but Cuse points out: "Ben famously lies all the time."
Faraday: Shot dead by his mother in 1977 at the Others' camp. Before his death, he added a new wrinkle in Lost time, Lindelof says. "Faraday comes back and says, 'You know how all season long I've been saying we couldn't change anything? Well, I just spent three years in Ann Arbor and now I've changed my mind.'"
Vincent the dog: "He's the only character that Carlton and I have confirmed survives until the very end of the show. Even we are not so heartless that we would take Vincent's life," Lindelof says. "He tests higher than several of the human characters," Cuse adds.
You go LSK - I knew Ben's eyes were buggin for a reason... heheheh
MAYBE A SPOILER
So it's looking more and more like a reunion... um, er, shucks... unless they're bringing in tons of flashback... fill in...
Then again - if it's all about cycles and souls - then I suppose anyone who has died on island (and wasn't buried) could be brought back, right?
It still sticks with me when they 'have to bury the bodies' so I suppose if that doesn't happen, they're recycled.
Like BEN. He's not the Ben of the old days - Richard pretty much tells us that (he'll not be the same...) so maybe it's just another soul in the body - and that's why present Ben doesn't equate Sayid with killing him. Sayid's Ben is dead (soul-wise), but not the soul who took over in the Temple...
By next week, I'll have myself all twisted around this.
I think this is just a promo picture, not the hatch, the light looks way too small. It's just lit that way to make Ben look as creepy as possible.
Fanolost, I think you might be right about Ben "not being the same" or "losing his innocence" Hopefully they will go back to that and show us what happened.
I want the opening scene to have the 1977 crew materialize in the shadow of the statue. Then again, I kind of like the time skipping idea though TPTB said no more time travel. I really want to see the Blackrock backstory!
Just one small thing I noted last night/this morning while in the final stage of the rewatch. On the episode "316", Jack finds Hurley in the lagoon. Hurley is shouting for help because he can't swim. I'm pretty sure this has all been discussed before, but I'm way to lazy to go back and look. Didn't we see Hurley doing a cannonball in the Season 3 finale after the Others attack was taken care of? Is this a continuity error, or has Hurley somehow "lost" the ability to swim in the whole messed up time-travel thing?
@ fanolost, yeah, he looked purdy dang good in that purple shirt. Hey, I'm wearing a purple shirt at work today! ;) And yeah, he was hilarious in that movie. I nearly died laughing when he got ketchup and mustard squirted all over! And thanks, thought he had done the cannonball. Weird...
@Tootsie, thanks for the welcome back, cant wait to begin our final journey.
@Flashest, nice recap on the hatch, Ben, possible reset, etc... And like you, "as long as they don't all wake up on Flight 815 landing safely at LAX, I'm cool with the journey". Me too. :)
The Producers have said that that time travel will not be a theme this season, for what that is worth. Be interesting to see how they ties this all together again.
@ Lovesteamykeamy, nice catch on Hugo and his cant swim line. One could argue it either way I guess... Is this connected to Charlie, he claimed he couldnt swim either. But of course, he did and swam down to the Looking Glass. Hurley has his guitar case...hmmm. Or are we overthinking it, he did cannonball into the ocean. But maybe he could always touch the ocean floor that close to shore, so he didnt really need to swim. I dont know, but it is interesting.
OK, this just off MediaBistro - for all of you who really look hard at the books someone holds on LOST:
In a mediabistro.com exclusive, Post revealed a book that will play an role in an upcoming episode of Lost--our first glimpse into the mysterious world of the final season of the show. According to Post, episode six will reference Japanese author Shusaku Endo's book, "Deep River."
Life imitating Art? Story on NPR about the only operational radio station, in Port-au-Prince since the quake – “Signal FM 90.5”. When the quake struck at 4:53 p.m. on Jan. 12, Signal FM was playing "Hotel California." The Earth groaned and the building shuddered, but just before the DJ ran out, he had the presence of mind to hit the "repeat" button. (The rest sounds a little like Danielle Rousseau’s distress signal). So for the first 30 minutes of Port-au-Prince's descent into Hell, the only thing you could hear on the radio was the Eagles' standard - over and over and over. (You can check anytime you like, but you can never leave.) The follow up story is that the station is being used to connect people separated from one another and to aid in rescue efforts. They are doing alot of good, they justaren’t playing much rock n roll lately.
What happened in Haiti is heartbreaking. I'm in NY which has a large Haitian population and the news shows have been showing people reaching out to family members at the radio station in Brooklyn. What happened in Haiti should serve as a warning to everyone to have a "Go Bag" ready just in case disaster strikes. I guess I've been more focused than usual on survival from watching History Channel's Life After People and more unnerving After the Apocalypse which zeroed in on how a family of three survives a pandemic! scary stuff!
@LostLover - you should look into the 125th Street fault line... which, no coincidence, runs right under, wait for it... Indian Point. And now that IPoint is owned by the Canadians, do ya think they care if the fault shifts? And according to geologists, that fault is due for a major shift.
I always loved that. Then again, IPoint is usually down once a day for some leakage - into air or Hudson. pppffffttt
@Mr F is in the building- Way back on October 29th, back when we were all way bored and I was doing a "Fringe" Diary on a fake Fringe Halloween Episode I wrote: "So the other Mr F has been watching the Series in the bedroom and just came by to tell me not only who wins the Series, but also the Superbowl and the BCS (Yanks in 6, Saints and Alabama, but you didn’t hear it from me.)" Way I look at it, the Saints are one Superbowl win from proving that that wasn't your older brother, but your future self! What do you think the odds of picking that exact Trifecta in October in Vegas were? Proof positive time travel is possible.
Now if you were Jack, you would head to Miami and try to assassinate Drew Brees with a thermonuclear device just to get back with Kate. :)
@Lostlover, I watched all those shows(After the Apocalypse, etc) too on History Channel plus the movie "Carriers" and have been freaking out on all the scenarios of survival when civilization collapses. Scary stuff indeed, Gave me nightmares and sleep loss for weeks. Haiti is a perfect example of everyman for himself, and how quickly society will fall apart without government intervention. Need Lost back on so I think of that all night long instead of the end days.
@Flashest... "dont mistake coincidence with fate John"-Mr Eko.
I am trying to figure out if that was my future self or if you time travelled and are just using that as a cover story. Simply amazing picks so far, now go spin the donkey wheel so I can go back in time and bet some money on the games. :) LOL!
Just watched "The Incident" again last night, Jack was on a mission.
Glad I'm not the only one that's been freaking out! Thanks Sandra and Fanolost - I will look into the 125th Street fault line.
We went to Connetquot State Park over the weekend, and we decided if anything catastrophic occurs and we have to bug out, we could survive there as long as the water supply stays clean. If our house isn't distroyed, we could stay there, our property has natural underground springs and a low water table running only 8 ft down(found that out when we dug the pool-took only 90 minutes to fill it up using the natural source! Would have taken 2 days the conventional way. Scary that I even have to THINK about that stuff!
Back to Lost...watch The Incident last night and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that Juliet was there when Jack first said "Live together, die alone" though she said it to Sawyer. I can't wait to see where we open, as I said earlier, I'm hoping that the Dharma Losties transport to the shadow of the statue (and they are the ones that Jacob referred to when he said "they're coming")rather than transport back to 815, that just doesn't make sense to me...as Tootsie said, when you reboot (a computer), you never get things back excactly the same way, so why would they flash to the plane 3 years ago?
I also think that the incident was caused by the drilling NOT the bomb, the bomb was a variable and we saw the loss of Chang's arm BEFORE the bomb went off so the incident had to be caused by the drilling and not Jack as Miles had accused.
@LostLover - as long as Connetquot isn't in the fallout range of Indian Point... ha, downwind, east wind... you know it was built in 1962 or so, and shouldn't be operational at this time... but I digress.
I totally agree that the bomb IS a variable and not a 'has to happen' because of Chang's arm.
I didn't like the whole Juliet (cause of variable...) changing her mind because of jealousy. Now I wonder if she went against what she should have done cuz of Kate.
Reading the pop-ups I thought - I'd really like Season 6 to run two nights - Tuesdays, and then Saturdays or something with the pop-ups. That way, we can discuss and ruminate during the week, and then on the pop-up evening, we'll see where we should be going with theory...
I agree, I always find something I missed in those pop-ups. I really loved when they ran the prior week's episode w/popups prior to the new episode, I think that was back in Season 4 maybe?
LOST Repeats Return but Before New Episodes
Posted by The ODI at 1/26/2010 11:45:00 PM
The new ABC Media Calendar for February is out and it reveals that ABC will be repeating the previous week's episode before every new episode!
So when Episode 6x03 airs, Episode 6x02 (second hour of premiere) will air at 8PM and so on!
So if you want to catch up or missed something or the episode itself you can watch it at 8PM before the new episode at 9PM.
The calendar ALSO confirms no break for the Olympics. We knew that already but just in case any of you still had doubts, it is official that there is no break for now.
I assume this is the schedule and plan for the whole season, but ABC has changed things up before.
LOL - I said to my hub last night just think, when the final ep airs, it'll be almost Memorial Day! YEAH! I am SOOOOO DONE with Winter (and it really hasn't even been that bad)! I don't know how you guys out West can take it!
Does anyone know what the preview for season 6 said after the rerun of the finale last night? I tried slowing my DVR down, but it kept skipping right over the words. Thx!
@lostlover, sooooo done with winter here too. I don't take the cold well, and it's been butt-cold here.
Six more days till LOST is back on!!!
I can't wait, so many things to say. But the internet's been out all day and I can't type much more on this tiny blackberry keyboard. Done that too much today. Know how fun it is to do research on these tiny things all day?
Oops... Sorry to get off topic. I can't wait for all the characters returning!!
Sorry some of you guys that think it’s cold, but -5 today w/30 MPH winds, so do the math =
-30 to -40 below!! Just saying-It's Minnesota-Sucks!!!
Anyway-just a note to Flashest Monk-we were discussing earlier about Ben's shirt & to quote you
"Ben's shirt looks like it was purchased at Macy's in 2010. Not very retro? (Just saying, am I reading too much into a publicity photo? No clues here, look away, look away)."
I looked over all of those pub photos & the one of "The Last Lost Supper" & Ben really does stand out w/that "dress" shirt!!??
All the rest of the cast has "character" specific attire:
Locke: classic T-shirt;
Alana: tank w/vest;
Sayid: wife beater shirt;
Lapidus: chest hair hanging out (lounge singer type)
Hurly: dirty t-shirt
Sawyer: country boy flannel
Kate-Sun-Claire: Sexy
Ben just looks really "out of place" to me?????
Does anyone else think so too? Ben-Wagoneers-he should of had his "creepy others" clothes on???
Reading too much in to a photo shoot-but it does look weird to me?!?!?!
Tootsie...Lol!!! Thanks for the fashion color commentary, the hits and the misses.
Ben was always one to stand out in the crowd. Remember his Spy vs Spy look, when he wore the dark fedora at his meeting with Sayid in the dark alleyway. Say What !
I thought tonights recep/promo for Lost was fun - but am I the only 'Lostie' who really cares about Rose and Bernard and thinks they are really integral to the the Lost story. I know they are not hot bodies like Jack, Kate,Sawyer, etc... but neither am I. I think I just answered my own comment:)
@Yoga53, I've always thought there's got to be more to Rose and Bernard than just being "supporting characters". They tend to point out some of the most important things. I hope we get to see more of them this season. It wasn't right last season without Rose and Bernard.
@sk, yeah, Ben's fedora thing was just a little strange to me.
@Tootsie, I think he should have been wearing the creepy Others clothes. Or at least a little less dressy... just seemed weird.
The following exerpts are from the new TV Guide Magazine. The first is from "Keck's Exclusives".
*News that Harold Perrineau will be returning to Lost late in the show's upcoming final season came as a shocker to many who recalled the actor's public criticism of the 2008 decision to kill off his character, Michael.
*"There are two big hopes I have for Michael," says Harold. "One is I hope he gets to apologize to his son." (Unlikely, says exec producer Carlton Cuse, explaining it's tricky to bring back Malcolm David Keley, now 17, because "he looks much older than his character. But we're still seeing if there's a way to work that out." Harold's second hope: "That I get to apologize to Libby, since her death was really an accident."
*In an upcoming movie, Harold is cast along side Kiele Sanchez, who had a brief run on Lost, as Nikki. "I wish she'd been part of our first season, because she's so much fun," raves Harold. "I remember her telling me she was so excited to be in Hawaii when she joined Lost, but then people kept telling her tales of what she shouldn't do on set, and she panicked. And then they killed her."
Following is an interview by William Keck in the same TV Guide Magazine issue with Terry O'Quinn.
*There is one helluva shocker coming up on Lost's final season premiere involving John Locke (who is actually someone else), Ben Linus (whom we first met as Henry Gale) and the Smoke Monster (who we'll soon learn is something else). The cloud of secrecy involving the mind-blowing scene is as thick as, well, old Smokey himself.
"I can tell you this," executive producer Bryan Burk says of the big reveal: "My assistant, who always likes to be surprised, by accident found herself listening in on a phone call when we were working on the premiere, and she literally screamed, 'Jesus!' when she found out."
O'Quinn: "I am apparently some other incarnation who's taken on John's face, voice, body, sore knees," he says. "He's on a mission and he's a dark presence, almost like the devil. The more the others know about him, the more fear he inspires."
"Given that this is Lost," says O'Quinn, "until we shoot the final shot, I'm not totally convinced [that the old] John Locke's not coming back."
But there's really just one lingering mystery O'Quinn demands be resolved by the finale, and that is, he says, "What is the island? That does have to be answered. I don't care who lives, who dies, who's happy, who's not. What was all this for?"
@flashest monk -- I CANNOT wait to see what / who Smokey turns out to be!!! And...OMG...Burk's assistant's exclamation of "Jesus!" WHAT DID SHE OVERHEAR!!!!!!!!! At least we find out in the premiere and not in week 14 or whatever. I am weak with anticipation:)
@jaytch, thanks for that... I'm now even more excited about the premier next week... We get to find out what/who Smokey is??!?! That is going to be awesome!!
Shoot, this entire season is starting to sound like it will be an incredible one!
@jaytch, thanks for the post, really building up the anticipation for this premier.
On a side note, I have been kicking around the "they land in LAX safely" theory. In regards to the whole Juliet detonating the bomb and changing/resetting the past/future, which may land all our LOSTies safely in LAX. I have been thinking about this and have come to the conclusion, I don’t think this is even possible. Not so much that time can’t be reset, more so the part about them landing safely in LAX.
Let’s say Juliet does succeed and detonates the bomb, which in turn prevents the Swan from being built, which means Desmond will not be there to enter the numbers late, thus causing the plane to crash.
Scenario #1: What if this kills all the LOSTies on flight #815? We know it was Desmond who caused the plane to crash when he failed to enter the numbers, but that was only part of the problem. The other part was the plane was “1,000 miles off course” as the Pilot informed us. What if the plane crashes into the ocean instead of the island, due to loss of fuel and being so far off course? I don’t see how they land in LAX safely when the weather was a major part of the problem with them being off course. No, I don’t think this will happen, but it would be a kick in the balls if it did. Congrats Jack, you saved us from the island so we can die in the ocean instead.
Scenario #2: What if they end up on the island anyways? Think about the Black Rock, it was Jacob who brought the ship to the island. So why not flight #815 too? Notice above I said Desmond caused the plane to crash; it was the magnetic energy that broke the plane into pieces. What if that was an unforeseen accident, all along Jacob was bringing the plane to the island, just didn’t plan on crashing it. Maybe he was simply going to magically pull people out of the plane he needed (think flight #316), or maybe the pilot was going to make an emergency landing on the island to fulfill Jacob’s wish. Way to go Jackie boy, instead of 48 people on the island you brought the whole dang gone plane this time.
I guess these are a couple of reasons why I have a hard time buying into the thought of them landing safely in LAX with a new lease on life. We know Jacob brings people, ships and planes to the island, so why not Flight 815 too? And we also know they were 1000 miles off course before getting close enough to the island for Desmond and the magic button to suck them down magnetically. Seems like it was their destiny to make it to the island, maybe course correction brings them right back to island anyways. Be it crashing, be it landing safely or be it magically pulled right from their seats… They DON”T make it to LAX…. In my opinion of course.
Also...did you guys know that J. J. Abrams is set to direct his first pilot since Lost? It's called "Undercovers" which is an action-drama following married CIA agents (played by Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.) And no...my fingers were not on the wrong keys. That's the actresses name.
Hi Jaytch - and thanks for the spoiler - interesting, though some is not spoiler... ;)
"Undercovers" - is likely a brit takeoff of MI-5 - wherein, an MI-5 and MI-6er are marrit. Then said MI-6er moves to MI-5. And yes they have a kid.
As with so many US shows - they're not 'new' - just a remake and Abrams can do better. And I wish, so verra much, that we'd start INVENTING some new material instead of rehashing (American Idol isn't even original...)
With access to international 'channels' it's embarrassing how few shows are US original.
do we even know for sure if the bomb exploded or not? who's to say the flash while juliet was banging on the bomb wasnt just the island course correcting and flashing jack & them back to present before juliet could succeed?
@lovesteamykeamy - actually Rose and Bernard were briefly on last season's Lost. They were discovered by Sawyer, et al.,living in 'retirement' on the beach with Vincent the Wonder Dog (another character I miss).
@Mr. F, idk why but that whole post had me snickering, with the "way to go, Jackie boy" comments. Thing is, you might be right... assuming that this really does prevent it, these consequences may happen.
Although I really hope they don't all crash and die in the ocean... that might be just as annoying as them all landing safely at LAX.
@lovesteamykeamy - we are in agreement regarding Rose and Bernard. I just wanted to be sure you hadn't missed that brief glimpse of hippi-style Rose and Bernard:)
@buttercup - you're right, we don't know if the bomb went off. We don't know if WHH is viable. We don't know if this is a soul/cyclical kind of thing the island harbors.
We don't know why Richard doesn't age - nor if he will now that his leader has been burnt.
We don't know who the heck is impersonating Locke since there are two Locke bodies on island at the moment.
We don't know much about MIB.
We don't know who built the statue, the temple. We don't if the cabin was built to keep Jacob in, or keep something out. Typically, ash and or brick is used to keep something from crossing.
We don't know who Adam and Eve are.
We don't know why they 'must bury the bodies.'
We don't know why Jacob's touch is so important.
OK, anyone have more to add? Maybe we can get these to ZERO if the writers are good!
Why do some people resurrect? Is that all about burying the bodies? Christian wasn't buried and he's around. Locke wasn't buried - but now there are two.
Ben? Who is Ben? It's not Ben of the past because Sayid's bullet 'changed' Ben when he was brought to the Temple.
What/Who is Claire? Did she die? So she's more like an island person now?
@buttercup- WHA? Are you saying beating a thermonuclear device in a prone position with a rock is not a sure fire journey to armageddon? Actually, really good point, especially about the flashing. Say Radzinsky's drilling triggered a release of electromagnetism. That could result in the flash and conveniently send them back to their original time period. I like DAT!
@Mr F- I'm with you bro' on course correcting (and basically just not wanting them landing in LAX.) Plus that would explain why Desmond isn't in the current cast. The Swan wasn't finished, the incident never happened.
@buttercup, no we do not know for sure the bomb exploded or not, if the Losties got zapped to the past/future or anything. Everything is still open for debate as far as I know. For what it is worth, I am leaning towards your version myself. Someway, somehow the Losties get out of 1977 and back to 2007. Again, just an opinion.
@lovesteamykeamy, I have been trying to wrap my head around them landing safely in LAX as a possible theory. And I just cant do it... When I started thinking about how they got to the island in the first place I came up with those scenarios. I dont believe either one will be right, but it was a fun journey to take and wanted to share. I had to add the Jack zingers to keep it light and fun. :)
@yoga. Sounds cool. I probably just sounded snippy and rushed because I'm supposed to be studying... not playing online. I have to catch up from my lack of internet yesterday. ;)
@Flashest, say it aint so Brotha... Desmond not in the cast? That will blow a big hole in my theory he is the Variable. Back to the drawing board....doh!
mr. f, yeah i'm sticking to my guns, i'm a firm believer in WHH...if i'm wrong oh well, at least i wasnt wishy washy!
fanolost, here are some questions i posted on gitsiegirl.com
what happened to annie?
how did ethan go from being a darma to an other & was his dad an other?
what are the whispers in the jungle?
who built the 4 toed statue and why does it only have 4 toes?
how did the black rock get to the middle of the island?
why are the numbers so significant?
how did ben know to build a runway 3 seasons ago for the ajira plane to land on & where to put it?
how was locke able to walk after crashing on the island and is it just a coincidence that he hurt his leg and is wheelchair bound when he leaves the island?
why was daniel crying while watching the news about 815’s crash
whats with the ring of ash around jacob’s cabin and how does the cabin move?
I think I agree with Mr. F and Buttercup - I don't think the bomb exploded, it was a flash due to "The Incident" caused by the drilling. I don't want them landing safely in LA X either. Keep those zingers coming Mr. F. FYI, Mr. F. Desmond will be back later this season, he's just not a regular. We only saw him in 2 or 3 episodes last season if I recall (After all, that was SOOO long ago) and my long term memory is not what it used to be
@buttercup - I can answer why Ben built a runway... because it's a CYCLE, and some folks remember and try to change things - like Jacob, Ben, Christian (who I think works for MIB) to get another outcome, and then the island/smokie, something, attempts course corrections...
Has been a staple theory of mine...
I thought the whispers are folks moving along the timeline, but...
Numbers. yeah...
Black Rock in the middle. Maybe the island moved as the Black Rock came into harbor, and well... it could happen...
The ring of ash keeps something out/in. Wiccan, voodoo, I know of a few groups who use ash, clay dust, to ward off evil. Like sage leaves around the house.
What's with the black/white in rocks, backgammon, etc...
Well that is one opinion on why Ben built the runway.
Or it could simply be cause that is what Jacob told him to do. Since it was Jacob's team that came on flight #316, the Shadow folk.
Or it could have been for Flight #815 to use originally, as Jacob could have summoned that flight to the island. But due to Desmond failing to enter the #'s in time, flight 815 was ripped into pieces and crashed on the island instead.
I guess it all depends on what you believe is going on with the island. Is it a loop, a cycle? Or is Jacob ominpresence and not confined by space and time as we know it? Or be like Locke, maybe it is what the island wanted. :)
Saw this theory on Buddy TV and I think it makes sense. I'm on my bberry so I don't have a URL for a link so I'm just pasting the theory: John Kubicek Senior Writer, BuddyTV
The more I think about Lost, and the more I try to understand the mysterious nuggets of wisdom Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have released over the last few weeks, the more I think I've finally figured out what will happen on Lost. We've heard a lot about only needing to rewatch season 1 to get caught up, and we've all seen the promos for the final season that just feature memorable moments from the past seasons. But what if those aren't old images? What if those scenes are from the final season? Here's the theory: After the bomb detonates, the survivors who were present at that time (Jin, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sayid, Miles) travel in time back to September 22, 2004. Six of them are aboard Oceanic 815 and Miles returns to his off-Island life, but they, and only they, retain their memories of the future. However, the detonation didn't destroy the Island, and Oceanic 815 still crashes. So basically, the survivors with a memory of the events that transpired are forced to relive the series, but they do it their way. They go right for the Hatch, they seek out Ben and the Others and they speed through the entire series like a kid replaying The Legend of Zelda after already beating it and knowing exactly where all the hidden secrets are. This would safely explain how all those original cast members are coming back and why Cuse and Lindelof keep talking about going back to season 1. The show would reboot and show how different choices would lead to different outcomes. It also explains why we haven't seen footage or photos from the new season, because the story would be given away if we saw the fresh wreckage of Oceanic 815.Sure, this theory seems a little to out-there for Lost, but I maintain that fans would be incredibly satisfied by the results. Just imagine if, back in season 1, Jack and Kate already knew everything about Rousseau, Ben, the Hatch, the Smoke Monster, DHARMA, etc. Things would've happened a lot differently. The other popular theory is that the bomb worked an Oceanic 815 lands safely in Los Angeles, and while I thought that would happen for a long time, my main problem is that it cuts the Island out. Aside from possible flashbacks or a parallel timeline, this theory would largely abandon the Island as a set and a character, which is a bit like making Titanic without a boat.
I am going to put my two cents in, and it is based on the game of chess, and the chess pieces; king, queen, rooks, bishop, knights, pawns, and the International Arbiter... Richard.
Richard has supreme authority and special knowledge; an official who arbitrates disputes and keeps score when the players are under pressure. He is liked by both sides, because he is neutral, favoring no side in a dispute or a war.
Richard may end up aging fast, once the game is over, a la' Dorian Gray.
Chess is played by two people, with 16 pieces for each player. Could this be the blueprint for Lost ?
@buttercup- I found a fun list of unanswered questions that someone put together. Organized by category. You could even print this out and check them off as they answer them this year (hahahaha!)
Was watching Some Like it Hoth last night and don't know if this has been pointed out before, but the apartment that little Miles found the first dead person who "talked" to him was apartment number 4. Wonder if it has significance, or it's just the writers throwing it in... Probably just the writers.
@LostLover, that snippet you provided synchs with my cycle theory - and it would really interesting if they start from square one. We would all be saying... NO NO NO, don't go THAT way...
Or whatever. I am convinced Ben has memories of past cycle/loops. But again, he's not little Ben - he's the soul/thoughts of whomever entered little Ben in the Temple.
I agree Jacob may have told Ben to do the airstrip - but I also think Ben has a lot more free will and memory to manipulate - and maybe is why the strip, his operation, is done on Hydra, not main island?
There's one thing that's been nagging at me with all this talk of Smokey resurfacing. In the first season, the White Rabbit episode, that was where Jack was following Christian. Didn't we hear some noise coming from him that sounded a lot like Smokey a few times? I'm not sure, but is Christian really working for Jacob? Does he really speak for him? Or does he actually speak for the MiB? Or have we discussed this already? Not sure, my brains a little messed up today, so it might be showing.
WELCOME BACK EVERYONE. Having a hard time finding time to get on here. Can't wait til next week although I still having finished watching the enhanced episode. Plus my car broke down in the snow storm yesterday. *tear*
@ fanolost & Mr. F nice to see you 2 respectfully disagreeing.
I do have to say this though, in response Mr. F...Ben has never spoken to or seen Jacob..that is until he killed him, so it can't be becuase Jacob told him.
Someone else (Richard perhaps)may have told him or maybe it is a cycle. I still haven't made up my mind but when we left off last season, I was admittedly leaning toward the cycle theory.
@ LostLover- very interesting theory. ITs def a possibility, at least IMO.
@ lsk - I have this suspicion that Christian is not working for Jacob based on Alana's comment in the finale that someone else has been using the cabin for a long time. Are MIB/Christian/smokey one in the same? IDK but I don't think think that the Christian that spoke to Locke is working with Jacob.
Hi Jenn3! I hope work is going well - I agree that Christian isn't w/Jacob and likely MIB - I think I threw that out somewhere earlier...
Sorry to hear about the car. I got mine back yesterday (accident, not my fault, and thankfully I thought to swerve to avoid head-on into pickup)!
@jaytch - thanks for asking. It's Friday. It's all good. Looking forward to a 'small storm' (though 10 years ago they predicted a couple of inches and there was 3 feet...) - and no ice.
I'm anxious for Tuesday - and the 15 following Tuesdays...
lsk, remember when jack was at the hospital and the smoke alarms went off & when we went to investigate his dad was there? definately makes me think that smokey is the one that re-animates the dead bodies on the island. i dont think that smokey works for the MIB or jacob, maybe there are 3 branches of island hierarchy and smokey is like the judicial branch but then where does that leave richard? is he up there with the MIB & jacob or a servant to them?
Oh, I finally feel like I am coming home! So happy to see all the familiar names...
I want to host a small, Dharma/LOST themed dinner Tues night...does any one have any menu suggestions?
@Daniel -- any chance you'll get some TMZ TV face time for the season six premiere? What about during the afternoon sitdown the producers do and stream online? Your fandom would dig it...
Welcome back Jenn3! And you are correct, Jacob never spoke directly to Ben until the meeting in the foot. I meant to say the orders came from Jacob, maybe by way of Richard. The same way the various "Lists" of people ended up in Ben's hands.
Buckle up for this one.... I agree with fanolost, Christian (on island) was NOT working for or with Jacob. I tend to believe that Christian was actually MiB, prior to him taking over Locke's appearance. It was Christian who sent John down the path of leaving the island and dying.
@AZwildcat, for dinner theme... may I suggest a turkey sandwich from a 12 year old Ben Linus, or a cheeseburger (Ben request in hatch), or some generic/Dharma cereal? Peanut Butter (Claire/Charlie), or Ranch Dressing (ala Hugo). :)
@ Mr.F --- nice food suggestions plus chicken salad sandwich (young Ben to Sayid), cup of tea (Bernard offered it to Juliet), fried chicken (comfort food for Hugo),
hot pocket (in Hurley's microwave)
@AZWildcat- Welcome back! Last year Top Chef Masters had an episode called the "LOST Supper" where they served J.J., Carlton Cuse and Lindenhof and the writing staff. They had to use game meat like Boar (ham), Wild Turkey (turkey), Polar Bear (NAH, just kidding there) and canned Dharma food like green beans, tomatoes, etc.
Keep in mind that most chefs have never opened a can of food, much less cooked with it. You can go to Bravo and watch the episode to get a LOST fix. I would suggest wild boar and wild turkey sandwiches and baked beans, green beans, chili con carne and creamed corn, all from a can for your lost party. Keep some additional canned food out on the table so everyone gets it. Would be even cooler to find the Dharma logo and cover cans from your pantry with the logo and the generic stenciled legends. Like "Dharma baked beans". Remember, a good meal is all in the presentation. :)
@CAM - Here are the labels for actual food (chocolate bars, cashews, cheese and crackers-- sssh- don't tell Hurley), or Disney for that matter. It took me a while to find this, evidently another site was selling labels and Disney put an end to that very quickly (Disney owns ABC. Cuse has been saying that he and his staff won't do any LOST sequels, movies, etc. but can't guarantee Disney won't try to cash in on LOST at a later date. How about a remake of the Odd Couple with Hurley and Miles?) see link below for food label pdfs.

@tootsie- Winter finale of Fringe next week. Did I miss something? Now we have "Winter finales". I know that finales end a "season" but I didn't know you could have one for a "Season". Anyway, its finally time for the two Universes to collide. Time to give the State of Massachusetts a break. Every week someone's coming down with the plague or exploding into bite sized pieces of raw flesh in a public area. Only fair that the rest of the Universe shares in the burden of Fringe science. Besides, those shape shifting soldiers for an Alternate Universe are so chic.
Speaking of chic. Loved your fashion commentary on all of the LOST characters. Would you consider doing a Worst Dressed List (like Mr Blackwell used to do) after each LOST episode? Could be fun. We could all vote on your nominees. Just a thought. Maybe Ben has put on weight during the hiatus and is wearing slimming stripes to create that coveted thin look?
@Jenn3 & Mr F... Not only was Christian with Locke in the cavern before he turned the donkey wheel, but he was also the welcoming committee at the barracks when Lapidus and Sun returned to the island.
Christian told them to wait for Locke, and with Ben in tow, Locke makes his presence known to them.
That is now two presumed dead people or entities that Sun has made contact with on return to the island.
@Flashest: I think I watched too much Fashion Police on E last week-LOL!!!
& regards to Fringe-I said the same thing-what the heck-Winter finale??? I hope they do start getting back to the main plot of the show also. Too much "X Files" like shows lately, get on with the story already!!!
Lost in 2 days!!!!!!! I'm kicking my husband out of his "man cave" & taking his big screen hostage for the premier, yip-ee!!
I woke up this morning and a commercial for The Golden Age Of Country was on tv playing Patsy Cline's "Crazy", a classic. Patsy's music is always played when Kate has her flashes.
Patsy Cline's last song she ever performed was "I'll Sail My Ship Alone", before she boarded a plane to head home after the concert. Unfortunatley the airplane crashed. So sad, but a strange tie in to Kate and her obsession with the toy plane.
On The Onion's Web site there is a video spoof which cautions that " the final season of LOST promises to make fans more annoying than ever."
According to The Onion, cities including Chicago and Seattle are convinced " that fans will be so much worse than previous years, they've already announced they'll be providing shelter Tuesday nights for anyone unlucky enough to be living with a LOST fan."... funny stuff.
Oh... one more thing for the triple post... why didn't my Season 5 DVD set have the Wall chart (watched the Onion thing on LOST fans)? Gonna have to make one for all those Post-its I have. ;)
@lsk- besides post-it notes, I use yarn and push pins to connect all the characters. It pretty much covers one wall of my cell, er, room. I find the only way it makes sense is if I wear my hat made of tin foil, because that hat blocks the gamma rays sent by shape shifting aliens from a parallel universe. No wait, those guys are from Fringe, I'm confusing my JJ Abrahms shows again, never mind. Just buy some yarn, any color but orange (if you're not sure why, ask Mr F.)
Flashest monk...Got a chance to rewatch The Pilot, Part 1. I had to refresh on how it all started, to understand where it is going for season 6.
Did you notice that Locke is seen eating an orange, as Kate removes a pair of boots from a corpse ? Is it paying homage to Don Corleone, when he has the orange in his mouth, playing with his grandson in the garden, before he dies ? And don't forget about the Colonel Kurtz references.
@flashest monk... LOL, sounds good. I'll make sure to get some blue yarn and silver pushpins, to make absolute certain it won't be anywhere near orange. Have to get a big pinboard... my dad won't like the bajillion holes in the wall. ;)
It's tomorrow guys!!! TOMORROW!
Sadly I saw a commercial last night for LOST during Desperate Housewives (yeah I watch it, it's a guilty pleasure of mine, so what?) and it wasn't another commercial with stuff from old seasons, it started out that way, but then there were CLIPS FROM THE NEW SEASON!!! Ack! I've seen too much! I'm trying my hardest to forget what I've seen, but it's still in my mind! Someone pass the MacCutcheon whiskey please, I think that might help a little to get rid of it...
Watching Season 5 finale tonight... the rewatch is finished just in time.
@Flashest, during my rewatch of Seasons 1 and 2 I couldnt help but be drawn in by the color "orange". It was everywhere and associated with a lot of key points in the show. Yes... stay away from orange.
@sk, that scene with Locke with the actual orange in his mouth was very interesting to me. One, it was really the first time the color orange was used in LOST. Now looking back with what we know now, I cant help but wonder if that had some other meaning.
Possible something symoblic, like darkness devouring the light. The Egyptians believe Apep, an evil demon, the deification of darkness and chaos devoured the sun every night leaving the earth in darkness. Could it be a possible nod to the battle between Apep and Ra (sun god)?
You might be shocked to see how many times the color orange was used in Season 1 and 2 alone during very critical moments of the show.
Check out Daniel's Throwback Edition of the Lost Diary, May 2007 Archives, on the Pilot 1 and 11. He is right..."It all begins so simple."...A very nostalgic read.
Thanks, everyone, for the meal ideas! I also (like a bunch of you) just wrapped a Lost marathon/refresher over the weekend...Frank Lapidius kills me! "We aren't going to Guam, are we?"
@AZwildcat, let me know if you need anymore meal ideas. For school I had to plan a party for an assignment (I'm studying to be an event coordinator, so it's legit.) and chose the LOST premier event for my party. Worked up a whole menu thanks to Lostpedia. I'll share if you need more. :)
@LostAgain- I've been thinking that too since their last appearance. The only question I have about that is when Jack and Kate found Adam and Eve in the caves, Jack said they appeared to have been there for 40 or 50 years, and they were last shown in the late 70's... however, Jack could easily have gotten it wrong. He's like that sometimes.
@Mr F- OOOOOOOMMMMMMMGGGGGG!How could we be so blind. The clues have been right there in front of us the whole f-ing time and we missed them. They aren't going to land in LAX, their flight is going to be redirected to ORANGE County (John Wayne Airport). Oops- I mean *****SPOILER ALERT*** (Is it too late to say that?) Sorry guys, hope I didn't spoil the season premiere for you. Just got carried away with that revelation.
@sk- ORANGE ya glad they ain't landing in Portland?
Hey, seriously, any theories on the title of tomorrow's episode. Its not LAX, its LA space X. Why the separation there. What does that mean. Like an "LA ex" could mean your spouse from a previous marriage (all my ex's live in Texas.) X marks the spot? What? Any theories? You know it means something, just like Not in Portland meant something. (Was "X" how Daniel explained the variable?)
One thing I did pick up from watching the Incident the last two nights that I may have forgotten. Jacob is definitely on the the Free Will side of the Destiny debate. In the cab with Hurley, he asks Hurley why he doesn't want to go back and then tells he has a choice. When Ben is primed to kill Jacob, Jacob reminds Ben that he has a choice. I'm thinking that Jacob is a supporter of Daniel's variable theory and that maybe he did bring the O6 (don't quite understand Sun's role in all this since she is stuck in the present) back to the island to explode the bomb and change destiny. I also support Tootsie theory that a reboot doesn't always get things back to factory settings. Can't wait until tomorrow. Then end of speculation and most probably's whole new set of questions.
Just a little quote for my BenWagoners from Watch with Kristen:
Edward in New York: Will Ben Linus get any more honest this season?
According to Michael Emerson, no. "I have always meant to be forthright, it's just that sometimes you get in a pinch and your mission requires that you fudge the truth a ilttle and get things done!"
Forgot to say, watch the "Final chapter" video all the way through, it then plays a long promo with tons of clues and then the first 4 mins of the premiere.
I'm kicking my sister out of the room at 7:58 and intend to have all the dishes done, dinner is just some frozen cannelloni's, my crackberry will be upstairs so I can't even be tempted, computer will be with me, but not signed into instant messengers, and I swear, if anyone calls me on the home phone, they'll be lucky to get a "Can't talk, LOST is on" from me. I cannot freaking wait!
I've been thinking about Hurley too, and what he is... never really thought he would be the new Jacob, I was going along the lines of being the evil mastermind, simply because it would be so awesome to see him as a bad guy... but I think Jacob makes slightly more sense... he's too good to be bad, I hope.
I'm going to try to flesh out my Hurley the evil mastermind theory though... just because it would be interesting to me.
There is a primary election in Illinois today, and the local ABC TV station has said they will NOT cut into LOST with any election results. Gotta love that.
LA X is going to be the best premiere show/event ever.
@LSK - OK, so Hurley is a Jacob and Myles would be MIB - just cuz they're two sides of a coin - one sees, one speaks, to dead folk...
Or something like that - and I don't mean good/bad, just that the island, in my cyclical theory, would need new bodies (old souls) and with their talents, would be a new 'game' for the next group.
I look forward to hearing your 'bad' theory for Hugo/Hurley.
@bb - I know we'll see Desmond - but I don't know when. Or how (as in flashback, memory). He was instrumental in what we see now - but if we're on a new timeline or something - he may no longer be needed... Eloise's prediction would not hold any further...
Until we see what has happened, I don't know if Des is needed by the island.
Yeah, I'm thinking of blowing off studying for the afternoon to work on my Hurley Theory... it's way more interesting than planning some sample wedding thing... and I'll mix in the final planning touches of my LOST Premier party project (good lord that's a lotta p's!) I still love that I got a "you decide the theme and event" project.
ah heck no. I've been glee for years until that STUPID show took my name i'd like to hunt down the creator of that show too.
so i am mixing it up becoming the gleester or who would know who i am anymore?
or we can have a contest - please help me name myself?
on another note i am overwhelmed with all the new info and posts here. did kanye west really stop by here? really? anyhoo I am ready to being discussing new theories based on new answers. my mind starts to quaver rethinking all the old theories. can't wait!
one thing though - twistie and i have a theory based on the season 5 dvd set front picture. it shows them segregated into two groups one with the island background and one with the city. the most important people are to the front (jack and john) and they fade into the back according to significance. ALSO we believe that those in the city picture die in the city and those in the island picture die on the island. jack is the new mr. white and john is the new mr. black because jacob was seen to travel to the city often (jack is in the city picture) but never mr. black. john will be the new mr. black (john is in the island picture and the cycle will continue.
too simple i know for this group cause most of y'all are WAY ahead of me.
There is the belief that the true meaning starts with loving and respecting our beings first and spreading the love to others, just like our ancestors did...An island filled with Aloha.
...Thank God that LOST is filming in Hawaii...A breath of life.
@the gleester- even if we differ in opinions on Glee (can't help it, I like musicals... and mohawked bad boy Puck is hot... what? I like baddish guys.) promise I won't post a single spoiler. I like the theory that you have... it sounds kind of right.
The show Glee is not realistic. There is no way that two performers/cheerleaders would let a guy take the lead away from them in a single ladies routine. NO WAY. that show should have started out with those 2 girls fighting it out to play lead.
So I guess that show is pure escapism but not as funny to me it is as silly as ugly betty which i never got into as well.
As twistie put it, happy LOST day!
One of the most intriguing theories that has been brought up, IMO, has to do with the "next generation" losties...Aaron, Ji Yeon (ooh, that is not the right spelling or name, at all), Baby Charlie. Any ideas how those babes will factor into the final season?
PS- is anyone else striving so hard to stay away from teasers before tonight? This is one of the only times in my life that I regret living OUT WEsT! I still have eight hours to go...
hey azwildcat - did you know twistie and I are both tucsonans?! unless you are one of our relatives and not letting us know ;)
I foresee jack traveling back to the city to 'touch' the 2nd generation losties to keep them on the right track so they too come to the island when it is needed
Yeah, I know Glee isn't realistic... but then again, neither is LOST. ;) Won't say anymore about it, since it's Lost Day! YAY!
I've given up studying... it's all about theorizing and prepping. What's going to happen now that Jacob is gone? Who's coming? Ilana and crew? And maybe most importantly... WHAT'S IN HURLEY'S GUITAR CASE?? Is it actually a guitar? Or something vital to the Island or something? That's been bugging me since he brought it on the plane and it ended up as the only thing that flashed to the Island with them.
Maybe what end up happening is like what happened in the last attempt to reach the island - flashes some people off the plane onto the island and the others go... somewhere else? They did set a precedent that the island will take who they want if the timing is right.
If the plane lands, who will still have memories of what happened? Anyone?
Those who stayed on island? Those who left the island? Will DESMOND still be on island pushing the buttons in the hatch?
I noticed an article said that the creators do not intend to wrap up all the questions and leave some mysteries.
So if you had just ONE question that had to be answered what would it be?
Mine: What are the rules? You know, like the one that whidmore apparently broke (via steamykeamy) by killing ben's daughter? Or the one whidmore broke by having a baby with an outsider. what other rules does the island demand?
@fanolost- I hope he's not gone... we were just getting to know him, and he was pretty cool, and still mysterious.
Come to think of it, now that you mentioned Hurley again... did we see Hurley at the big fight at the Swan Site? Totally adding that to my theory! Really, I do like Hurley, it just makes for a good theory...
JACOB did not visit HURLEY in person like he did everyone else until 2007 (in the cab with Charlie's guitar case). He had seen everyone else years before.
Was JACOB waiting to see who would be the best replacement for him?
FYI, that link is no spoiler - it's just the three chatting and Josh looking yummy... and Evangeline - yeah well, less on the lipstick... heheheh
I don't like her at all, now do I?
Is it now time for: I hate Kate... ahhh, makes me ready for tonight...
@ fanolost on the island part of the Season 5 dvd pic it shows 3 characters that already died - on the island - charlotte, daniel and juliet. coincidence?
@ fanolost on the island part of the Season 5 dvd pic it shows 3 characters that already died - on the island - charlotte, daniel and juliet. coincidence?
Haven't posted since the end of season 5 - but I've been lurking . . . I saw the promo in Desperate Housewives and ran it back about 6 times, it was so good. Sure hope we don't have any satellite issues tonight - I'll have my battery digital TV ready just in case!
az wildcat, you got me thinking if there's any correlation between the fact that there are three kids born of losties(charlie, aaron, & ji yeon) and there are three kids that used to live on the island that went back (miles, charlotte & daniel)
I hope I have something more theory-based to contribute tomorrow - I'm getting so nervous, 4 hours out, I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through the evening!
Ugh, why do I have this fear that my tv is gonna get messed up tonight? Just going to have to keep my fingers crossed that everything keeps fine for the premier... I don't feel like running up and down my street to get someone to let me watch it. ;)
@ fanolost regarding juliet - it all depends on the incident which not only predates the plane crash but also Ben killing the dharmas and bringing her to the island.
A long time ago I made the reference to the lost tower series and that there are key players and supporting players. The 2nd tower book is "the drawing of the three" and the ending of that series makes you believe that every time the cycle is relived a different 3 are drawn. I believe Juliet is just a supporting player based on the circumstances and that any major change may cause her to be no longer necessary. Her only real contribution to the outcome of the story is her saving sawyer's bacon a time or two and (possibly) making the bomb explode. She didn't save ben the first or second time either.
Yeah, I remember vaguely your tower thoughts. And I don't disagree with what you just posted. Fine by me if she's not around... So we're in two different times, so a total of 6 could be drawn?
I don't think the INCIDENT is the electro/jughead.
The INCIDENT is Jacob - which is happening at the same time - well, same time, 30 years in the future.
I think that's the thing that's gonna reset - and not reset the Oceanic - but some other island thing.
I think that moment will be at 10:58 pm EST. These guys - show runners, writers, etc. - do an excellent job of creating that WTF moment for us to go to sleep on, or to talk about all next day, or whatever. Now, I'm outta here (work) and on my way home - my angst is being worked up to a fever pitch!
@gleester, Juliet could be involved in a causal paradox.
Suppose this is the Incident, and let's say the bomb going off on the island is what affects the women on the island from being able to have babies. So because Juliet set the bomb off, Juliet ends up being the reason Juliet is brought to the island to begin with. Maybe if she doesnt explode the bomb, the women are able to have babies, and Juliet is never brought to mystery island in the first place.
Okay, thoughts saged out, plus just found out my neighbor across the street is a big lostie too, so if anything goes wrong, I'm heading there!
If only I lived in a family that didn't mock me for my love of LOST. They laugh as I furiously scribble my Hurley theory... oh well. I'm going to hunt up my skills on selective hearing, back later.
Whats up Losties I cannot wait! I hope the dive right in and answer some questions then get on with the new story line.... So excited for this 2hr event tonight
I used to live in that family lovesteamykeamy but then I gave my bro (and nephew) all the seasons on DVD and that fixed it!
I do get hopelessly mocked at work though and my response is "what tv shows do YOU watch that cause you to ponder and discuss the intersection between science, theology, philosophy, literature and children's fables hmmm?" that usually shuts them up.
fanolost: charlie= des & penny's boy..i consider des a lostie cuz he crashed his boat on the island same as the 815ers, but maybe you're right cuz azwildcat made me wonder how clemintine fit in, that would make 4 not 3 but maybe take charlie out cuz he wasnt born from an 815er & put in clemintine...i dont know anymore :)~
I've basically counted Des among the Losties since he joined them, assimilated to them, whatever... Honorary Lostie... so that would make his Charlie a child of an Honorary. Clemintine I guess would fit just because of Saywer, probably. Dunno for sure, since Sawyer never met or talked to Clemintine, just set up all that money for her...
true sawyer never met clementine but she has his blood in her and this story seems to be about blood lines with the children of people who have lived on the island coming back to find answers, i'd say clementine will have plenty of questions about her daddy one of these days!
It'd be interesting to see what happens between the Sawyer-Clemintine Connection... I'd like to see Sawyer as a father to a nearly teenaged daughter... Bwahahahaha... Pity any boys that met him...
Okay, so I've somewhat fleshed out my Hurley theory... having both points for it and against it.
For:
- He could always be playing the dumb luck guy, such as when he accidentally fired the flare gun and signaled the others where they were with Naomi.
- When the Incident, or at least the dropping of Jughead down the hole, happened, we did not see him either in the gun-battle or at the Swan Site at all. Could Richard have pulled him aside and they both watched the whole thing happen, with no harm to them?
- He wanted to go with Des and Charlie to the Looking Glass. He said it was because he didn't feel like running with the rest of the people, but it could have been to sabotage Charlie from unlocking transportation.
- He could have done the census and manifest thing for a few reasons, one, to gain the trust of the survivors by taking it and turning in Ethan, and also to gain intelligence on the Survivors along with Ethan for the Others.
- He revealed the sat phone to Mihkail, which could have been viewed as a mistake, as he always kept that appearance up, of a goofy person.
- Isn't always a nice guy, has conned Sawyer as well as Sayid and Kate before.
- He could have struck a bargain with the Others that they would take away his bad luck in exchange for working with them after Jack, Sawyer, and Kate were zapped. The other three were the only ones we saw zapped, which doesn't mean that he wasn't, we just didn't see it, just like we didn't see Michael get zapped.
- Episode title "Everybody Hates Hugo." could have been a prediction?
Against:
- Hurley always was protecting people and trying to keep everyone happy (the golf course and the giving out of all the food.)
- All the crazy things that happened to him while he was trying to get on the plane could have been preventing him from getting to the Island.
- When Hurley conned Sawyer it was to get him to be nicer to everyone.
- He killed the Others on the beach, probably wouldn't want to kill his own people.
- He really could have just wanted to go with Des and Charlie to the Looking Glass to help them and to be with them.
Okay, that's all I've got right now, still coming up with more, and trying to figure out if the Hurley Bird means anything to this theory.
1 hour 40 minutes!!!
Please God this stupid movie ends before that... who wants to watch Groundhog Day instead of LOST? Ugh.
HUGO was the one who the OTHERS sent back to the beach when they captured JACK, KATE, and SAWYER, and he was supposed to let them know not to try to come back to the OTHERS
Crackberry is going upstairs soon... along with prayers that no one calls me on my home phone that I'd be forced to talk to, computer will be muted and in stealth mode, and sister will be kicked off the tv in exactly 30 minutes!
I can't believe this is the final season premier. It's crazy! And a little sad.
Holy awesomeness! I have so many questions and still sticking with the Bible theory - as in the Shephard (Christian, Claire, Aaron - maybe Jack, but mostly the first three) are good. I'll talk more tomorrow. But let me know if anyone else sees some intense Christian imagery with the Sayid scene. You'll know what I'm talking about...I hope...
For those of you who watched FlashForward, you will remember Charlie playing the evil Simon and explaining quantum mechanics to the lady on the train using the Schrödinger cat (two quantum states exist simultaeously and only one remains and the other perishes at time of the reveal.) I like both story lines and I'm glad Sayid made it back to the land of the living.
#ssarah - I will say the scene with Sayid in the spring mixed with blood reminded me of the scene in the Ten Commandments when Moses turned water into blood.
ssarah badara- I agree. When they pulled Sayid out of that water it looked like they were pulling Christ off the cross. Same body position. Yep. Very weird!
Okay I'm a bit let down.....I wanted answers but I coulda used a little bit more excitement. The first hour was really a snooze but it picked up....I'm glad that Smokey is locke because that means locke is not a bad guy afterall. Bens an idiot but I feel bad for him. I REALLY feel bad for Richard man hes such a good guy and I hope Smokey doesnt kill him. FUCK Kate....I seriously can't stand her. Back off Sawyer and go be with Jack...She acted like vulcher right after Juliet died. LIKE UGH BEYOTCH you just couldnt wait could you. Glad we got to see all the dead Charlie.Clair.Boon. I think the season will pick up but kinda dissapointed after the long wait. DAMN YOU SMOKEY! Team Jacob!<3
so has anyone figured out what side effect Sayid is effected with yet? so long being out something must have happend. maybe waiting for richard to die?

Ooooooh my God!!! Loved it. Might have to retrace a few theories. And was so happy to see some familiar faces, as well as annoyed to see others. I think I got maybe two questions answered to the five or seven that came up.
so does that make sayid the new richard?

Sorry got too excited... AND smokies i want to go home line, who is going to get him off the island (I assume home is off the island) Another transfer? nose bleed best stop now...
First did anyone catch the "previously on Lost" skip and they said it twice. Maybe a way to signal a Parallel universe?
Also maybe smokie is the Angel Gabriel from the bible? Or Loki
I loved tonight's 2 hour premiere - maybe 2 glasses of wine helped. I think I understand some things and I have a projection for the finale that involves Jack and Sawyer - but I will wait till Daniel posts his always fine synopsis and maybe I will post my prediction.
Do I remember that they took Ben to the temple when Sayid shot him? And did anyone catch that Miles had a funny look on his face while he was sitting next to "dead" Sayid? I bet it was because he was trying to connect with him and couldn't because he really wasn't dead!
Desmond was on the plane sitting next to Jack where he was never on the plane before. His signature line? See ya in another life, brotha! The plane and landing, etc. is showing another life for all the Losties. The Island underwater (OMG) is another life. The Losties on the Island with the bomb not having gone off completely as expected - I think that is the "REAL" life - which has its own mysteries to resolve.
The show runners said that they would be using a different narrative device this season - not flash backs or flash forwards. So it must be, Parallel Universes. How they get resolved, of course I have no idea.
@Flashest, I am completely on board with your post in regards to Schrödingers cat. The whole time I was watching it that was all that kept coming to mind. We are seeing both results, the bomb resetting time and the bomb doing nothing.
So on one side of the coin, the Losties reset time and ended up back on flight 815. But it appears a few things have changed drastically before they even were on the plane. Desmond being on the flight was strange, and not knowing Jack from the stadium steps which definitely happened well before flight 815 in the original timeline.
And the reveal of Smokie being MiB, being Locke... So is Smokie a Djinn? I had read a lot of theories on this and now it makes a lot of sense. Thinking back to the people Smokie scanned, it makes sense that is how MiB set up his loop hole plan.
I don't think Richard is dead, it really just looked like he got the crap beat out of him and knocked unconscious. And what was with the "it's good to see you out of your chains." line to him from Smokie Locke? Was Richard the MiB's prisoner at one point? Jacob's prisoner? Not a crew member of the Black Rock, but a slave on the boat? He better not be dead, he's kinda, oh I don't know... hot... I enjoyed watching him break the wall. Is that wrong of me? ;)
And yay, we finally found out what was in the friggin' guitar case! It was almost a letdown, until that note. Read by the guy who prefers Latin to English... at the Temple. Can I please go to the Temple? It looks warm and inviting, even with the impending attack. So glad to have seen the Temple and now we know where Zach and Emma are!
It's better than here... every time the snow melts, we get more.
And the two timelines... kind of cool. It was good to see Boone again. And of course Kate made a break... I'm just amazed she hasn't been captured yet...
And Smokie... oh that was great to find out that little bit about him. Don't shoot at human form of Smokie. He'll just transform into the smoke and kill you.
@Mr F- Thanks. So according to quantum mechanics, the two events will run concurrently until one is revealed. Then one will exist fully while the other vanish. One logical conclusion for LOST is that the two parallel universes will intersect at the end and that will be the result. So which one is the preferred universe for we fans? Guess we will have to see how this plays out but personally, I am having a hard time with the L.A. version and the island being underwater.
I agree Richard was just knocked out - think he'll be back and v important in some way.
Not sure about Sayid now being possessed by Jacob - if it was that easy then why all the panic about MiB. Maybe he now won't age? or maybe he's just Ben-dup ie. 'will lose innocence'
It seems Jacob was bringing people to the island to prove _something_ that will be the 'it only ends once everything else is progress' that he mentioned while on the beach.
I presume ending it will result in something important, and now Jacob is dead I guess a case of can the remaining losties / others prove it before MiB gets them.
My main question would be;
What is the purpose of the 2 timelines?
Obviously it's cool to see what would have happened, but must be more to it that that. Any ideas?
OMG OMG
Two worlds - one where jughead is the incident, the other where the death of Jacob is...
Anyone notice on the plane Hurley is polar opposite to who we know him to be ("I'm the luckiest guy on earth") and Charlie (who didn't want to die when we first knew him).
This has got to mean something.
Sayid is either Jacob or Juliet... (heheheh for Sawyer) - from what I can piece together about souls and all.
That MIB is a creature and not human could mean same for Jacob?
On island: are Jack and James becoming the duality that was Jacob and MIB? James wants Jack to suffer (MIB was suffering at the hands of Jacob).
And I'm not sure Jacob is 'good.' We don't know how he got to be supreme leader - and obviously MIB has issues with him. Likely one has to be nasty in order to control. Kinda like Locke was becoming.
Richard is not dead. And MIB imprisoned him? That will be interesting.
Temple. How cool. Cannot wait to learn more ("English does not flow/taste good on my tongue...' great line).
I too am having a hard time with the LA version. It raises to many questions in regards to the characters past as we know (knew) them.
As I mentioned above, Jack not knowing Desmond from the running of the stadium stairs. But Christian still went to Australia, still died.
Not to mention Desmond being on the plane. So he never did the stadium steps, never entered the boat race, instead he is on flight 815.
And why is Locke alive? If they never go to the island, then wouldnt it be logical to assume Jacob never came to see him and save his life after his fall?
Good morning everyone! So I have a feeling even though last nights episode wasn't the adrenaline rush of last season's finale, I think there were a lot of nuggets given to us. Probably more than we've digested just yet.
I am curious about Juliet's comment that It worked. Does that mean it worked as in another parallel universe was created i.e. the Losties on the plane
What did the Temple dude mean when he said if Sayid dies we are all in big trouble.
How about Charlie's comment that he was supposed to die?
Its interesting that Hurley seems to be in the know now and kind of showing the other Losties and Miles the way.
I snickered a little when they asked Jack to step to a courtesy desk, kind of guessed what was coming. And how he gave Locke a card to get a free consult from him, the miracle working spinal surgeon. But still having some trouble with the two realities... something's got to happen.
Oh and its interesting that even though they didn't know each other, and we assumed, well at least I did that if they hit the reset button they would all go on with their lives without ever knowing each other, they all ended up connected to each other anyway.
Is there anything to the fact that every season premiere (I think) starts with Jack?
Also, when Jack is upset at finding out his father's coffin is missing, Locke says to him that his father's not lost...just his body is mising. Hmmm.......
Another thought going through my head is the feeling that the last episode of the series will have MiB/Locke and Jacob/Sayid sitting on the beach watching the latest disaster (Black Rock, Oceanic plane) and the struggle begins...again...and again...
@Mr. F - I never thought Locke was 'dead' after the fall, so now he'll get 'healed' by Jack - who is connected still to the island - and then Locke will follow Jack back, somehow.
I think in this other universe, they'll all still end up on the not-yet-resurrected island. And the Lamppost will likely resurrect it, or maybe Portland, or maybe MI. That we saw it - sort of intact- signals, to me, that it will rise again, when Jack can bring the folks back.
@amarilloslim - that's right about ROSE. So she's an opposite also.
Maybe these folks need to be opposite in order to be brought into the fold, and back to the island - by Jack - the new Jacob or MIB...
JULIET (through MILES) said "it worked" -- so she must have know that the bomb did take them back to 815/LA, and she also knew they were in parallel time on island.
It MUST be parallel universes---and they will come together and resolve in the finale!
Those who returned to 815/LA will not have the wonderful lives that they thought they would, and weill once again choose the island, since that is their destiny!
@Flashest monk & Mr.F... Schrodinger's treatment of his cat is cruel. Later in his life, Schrodinger is rumoured to have said that he wished he never met the cat... I am not sure about anything any more.
I am now going to make some changes to my Lost wall chart.
Christian gone AWOL. I am still scratching my head over that one.
I'm about to say something that isn't a spoiler - as it's been in coming attractions - however...
**READ at your own risk***
Jack asks Hurley why his name is on something - I am assuming it's the weave thing Jacob was doing.
JACK IS connected to/part of the island from the past (and future) and so he'll get back to it from the new universe. In one scenario, he wanted off island - and that hasn't worked. In the other, he's off and now will work his way back.
@jenn3 - I believe what temple dude meant was...
If there's not a body for the soul of Jacob (or Juliet) to go in to, then they LOSE that person for good, and I think they need an opposite to MIB.
that was definitely something i noticed in the LAX timeline, how peoples histories were different. locke actually went on his walkabout, but in the end it was revealed that he is still in the wheel chair—does this mean his work on the island was never completed, thus is still being punished?
hurley being the 'luckiest person in the world,' boone deciding to leave shannon in australia, sayid getting off the plane to be reunited with nadia—these are positive things for those characters. does this mean they successfully proved themselves 'good people' on the island and are being rewarded?
ALSO— did anyone else notice that charlies hair was cut really short in the LAX timeline? because on the original 815 flight, his hair was long and kind of nasty.
it was when 'dead charlie' went and visited hurley at the mental institution in the beginning of season 4 that we saw his hair cut short.
may be nothing, but i thought it was a difference worth noting.
Desmond is on the plane because maybe he WON the boat race. Without the incident, he never would have made it to the island. The thought is, he won the race and stayed in Australia or was visiting him. I agree that the first meet of him on the stairs still occurred, cause Jack was trying to place him. Not enough time for the two to talk about why.
Juliet saying 'it worked.' I think likely she's seen (from the other side) the safe landing of Oceanic - but I doubt she's seen past that. Then again, she may have seen that she and Sawyer meet up - though he's already met Kate - and is already sniffing around her with glee (not the first!).
Burying Juliet's body ensures we'll not see her on island - but maybe off? But by next month, she's back to 'V' - so I cannot think she's integral to the storyline...
Except in whispers - that Miles hears. And maybe a cameo for Hurley.
These two are duals too (said that the other day). There's a chance they'll take sides ...
And in the end, it'll be Jack and Sawyer, waiting on some freighter... heheheh with the Losties living in the Temple - away from it all... with either Richard or Hurley being the emissary to those who tread upon the sacred shores...
I thought Jack asking Hurley why his name was on this referred to that piece of paper that was pulled out of the ankah that Hurley had in the guitar case. The guy broke it and pulled out the paper, then asked them all their names, as if checking off the paper and then believing that Jacob sent them and that if Sayid "died" they were all in a lot of trouble. Which Sayid did die....but now I think Jacob is inside him. :)
@LOSTAGAIN, in regards to Jack not knowing Desmond on the plane. Now maybe the running of the steps did happen, and both Dez and Jack simply cant place where they know each other yet.
I just found it odd, as when they met in the hatch Jack seemed to almost immediately recognized him. It took Dez a few moments to remember Jack.
Now surely I dont remember everyone in passing, but their meeting happened during a pretty important time in Jack's life. When he fixed and unfixable Sarah, surely he would remember the guy who kept asking him "what if you did fix her?".

Posted by: flashest monk | January 22, 2010 08:42 AM
What's with the fog? Or is that Smokie - will Ben begin to chat again with it/him?
The Hatch... why oh why?
Could it be the present and past collide, meld, or otherwise come together?
Och.

Eeeeeek! The photo that will haunt my dreams tonight!

Posted by: fanolost | January 22, 2010 01:21 PM
@fanolost... that's it! He's seeing Keamy coming back for him!!! WOOOOO! You were right and I might get a Keamy fix. LOL

I truly hope this means you are going to see us through the final season of LOST!
Posted by: Anonymous | January 22, 2010 06:27 PM
Maybe Ben has gotten a taste of his own medicine, a' la Karl , Alex's boyfriend, by being forced to watch brainwashing videos in Room 23. Thus the crazy eyes, like Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange.

you could've warned me! that picture is going to give me nightmares!

Just saying!!!!!
Posted by: Tootsie | January 22, 2010 09:17 PM
Posted by: flashest monk | January 23, 2010 07:43 AM
Of course, none of that would explain how Ben ends up standing over an occupied hatch, unless the Ben pictured isn't present-day Ben, but rather past-Ben from ten years or so previous? Maybe its just a cool promotion shot with no other value, like the Sports Illustrated swim suit edition???? Like that.
Posted by: flashest monk | January 23, 2010 11:30 AM

Posted by: victoria | January 23, 2010 09:04 PM
Posted by: flashest monk | January 24, 2010 09:13 AM
Do you think that the reason that Locke manipulated Sawyer to kill his father, Cooper, has anything to do with Locke giving him his kidney?
Locke could not personally do the deed because he would have been offing a little piece of himself, literally, by killing Cooper.
And Locke's organ donation to Cooper ended up saving his life in the long run, when Ben shot him in the pit... Where in the hell did Ben get that gun from anyways???
Posted by: sk | January 24, 2010 12:35 PM
@sk- not sure why Locke couldn't kill Cooper. He sure didn't hesitate to terminate Naomi with extreme prejudice when the time called for it. In regards to where Ben got the pistol, maybe he brought it with him when they trekked to the cabin, or maybe under a fake rock like the signal mirror and the stale saltines?
Posted by: flashest monk | January 24, 2010 02:31 PM

It might be a spoiler:
he looks good in his purple shirt, huh?

By next week, I'll have myself all twisted around this.

yep! but i bet he looks better out of it!! ;)

" Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life "...
Maybe Ben has turned out bad... So far !!! It also looks like Ben has found his significant Other, and he put a spell on her.
..."The Look Of Love Is In Your Eyes"...

@ buttercup. Oh yes he does... learned just how good in "Cabin Fever". And a couple movies I've seen... :)

Just ONE more Tuesday to go!!! ABC is re-running "The Incident" tonight at 8PM central time.
Posted by: jaytch | January 26, 2010 05:32 AM
I think this is just a promo picture, not the hatch, the light looks way too small. It's just lit that way to make Ben look as creepy as possible.
Fanolost, I think you might be right about Ben "not being the same" or "losing his innocence" Hopefully they will go back to that and show us what happened.
I want the opening scene to have the 1977 crew materialize in the shadow of the statue. Then again, I kind of like the time skipping idea though TPTB said no more time travel. I really want to see the Blackrock backstory!
ONE WEEK AWAY!
Posted by: LostLover | January 26, 2010 05:45 AM
Just one small thing I noted last night/this morning while in the final stage of the rewatch. On the episode "316", Jack finds Hurley in the lagoon. Hurley is shouting for help because he can't swim. I'm pretty sure this has all been discussed before, but I'm way to lazy to go back and look. Didn't we see Hurley doing a cannonball in the Season 3 finale after the Others attack was taken care of? Is this a continuity error, or has Hurley somehow "lost" the ability to swim in the whole messed up time-travel thing?
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | January 26, 2010 06:10 AM
LSK - did I mention Keamy in purple (my fav color) is quite, um, steamy?
And I can't say I liked him in Wild Hogs... but...
OK. LostLover - HI! I know... I'm back to thinking all sorts of soul swapping again...
Jaytch - really? Tonight? Cool... then they rerun next week?
Posted by: fanolost | January 26, 2010 06:19 AM
LSK again - Yes. Hurley did do that cannonball and did body surf/swim... good catch...
Posted by: fanolost | January 26, 2010 06:20 AM
The countdown for the adventure filled journey is officially on, and the anticipation for the big day is finally on the horizon.
I feel like a kid in grade school, with one week left before summer vacation or Christmas Day. Bring it on!
Posted by: sk | January 26, 2010 06:29 AM
@ fanolost, yeah, he looked purdy dang good in that purple shirt. Hey, I'm wearing a purple shirt at work today! ;) And yeah, he was hilarious in that movie. I nearly died laughing when he got ketchup and mustard squirted all over! And thanks, thought he had done the cannonball. Weird...
1 MORE WEEK!!!

fanolost -- 1 hour recap then 2 hour premiere...I think I have that right.
Posted by: jaytch | January 26, 2010 07:57 AM
Happy viewing to all..:)

You have until Epi 6 to read...

Posted by: LostLover | January 26, 2010 11:42 AM

Posted by: flashest monk | January 26, 2010 04:43 PM
@Lostlover, I watched all those shows(After the Apocalypse, etc) too on History Channel plus the movie "Carriers" and have been freaking out on all the scenarios of survival when civilization collapses. Scary stuff indeed, Gave me nightmares and sleep loss for weeks. Haiti is a perfect example of everyman for himself, and how quickly society will fall apart without government intervention. Need Lost back on so I think of that all night long instead of the end days.
Posted by: sandra | January 26, 2010 06:20 PM
@Flashest... "dont mistake coincidence with fate John"-Mr Eko.
I am trying to figure out if that was my future self or if you time travelled and are just using that as a cover story. Simply amazing picks so far, now go spin the donkey wheel so I can go back in time and bet some money on the games. :) LOL!
Just watched "The Incident" again last night, Jack was on a mission.
Posted by: Mr F is in the building | January 27, 2010 05:23 AM
Guess I should drop the "is in the building" part, that was just a little shout out to when Kanye West stopped by here.
Going with Mr F. to keep it short and simple for everyone.
Posted by: Mr F. | January 27, 2010 05:24 AM
@jaytch - thank you for alerting me to 'The Incident.'
Amazing how much I'd forgotten... and so looking forward to Tuesday....
Posted by: fanolost | January 27, 2010 06:00 AM
Posted by: LostLover | January 27, 2010 07:15 AM
Posted by: fanolost | January 27, 2010 07:30 AM

Posted by: LostLover | January 27, 2010 08:01 AM
yea yea yea! Thanks for getting all this info, LostLover. They'd better not change up - I've planned my life for 16 weeks...
Posted by: fanolost | January 27, 2010 08:18 AM
LOL - I said to my hub last night just think, when the final ep airs, it'll be almost Memorial Day! YEAH! I am SOOOOO DONE with Winter (and it really hasn't even been that bad)! I don't know how you guys out West can take it!
Posted by: LostLover | January 27, 2010 08:50 AM
LostLover - done with winter too. I got a triple-digit electric/heat bill - when my average is $50 in winter... ack... I hate heat pumps.
I hope reruns include pop-ups ... but I'll take Lost any way I can get it.
Posted by: fanolost | January 27, 2010 09:12 AM
Does anyone know what the preview for season 6 said after the rerun of the finale last night? I tried slowing my DVR down, but it kept skipping right over the words. Thx!
Posted by: Jean | January 27, 2010 01:50 PM
@lostlover, sooooo done with winter here too. I don't take the cold well, and it's been butt-cold here.
Six more days till LOST is back on!!!
I can't wait, so many things to say. But the internet's been out all day and I can't type much more on this tiny blackberry keyboard. Done that too much today. Know how fun it is to do research on these tiny things all day?
Oops... Sorry to get off topic. I can't wait for all the characters returning!!
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | January 27, 2010 03:01 PM
Locke: classic T-shirt;
Alana: tank w/vest;
Sayid: wife beater shirt;
Posted by: Tootsie | January 27, 2010 07:39 PM
Tootsie...Lol!!! Thanks for the fashion color commentary, the hits and the misses.
Ben was always one to stand out in the crowd. Remember his Spy vs Spy look, when he wore the dark fedora at his meeting with Sayid in the dark alleyway. Say What !
Posted by: sk | January 27, 2010 09:18 PM
I thought tonights recep/promo for Lost was fun - but am I the only 'Lostie' who really cares about Rose and Bernard and thinks they are really integral to the the Lost story. I know they are not hot bodies like Jack, Kate,Sawyer, etc... but neither am I. I think I just answered my own comment:)
Posted by: Yoga53 | January 27, 2010 10:39 PM
@Yoga53, I've always thought there's got to be more to Rose and Bernard than just being "supporting characters". They tend to point out some of the most important things. I hope we get to see more of them this season. It wasn't right last season without Rose and Bernard.
@sk, yeah, Ben's fedora thing was just a little strange to me.
@Tootsie, I think he should have been wearing the creepy Others clothes. Or at least a little less dressy... just seemed weird.

***POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*** ***POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*** ***POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT***

@jaytch- one word- AWESOME- thanks for sharing that.
Posted by: flashest monk | January 28, 2010 08:28 AM
@flashest monk -- I CANNOT wait to see what / who Smokey turns out to be!!! And...OMG...Burk's assistant's exclamation of "Jesus!" WHAT DID SHE OVERHEAR!!!!!!!!! At least we find out in the premiere and not in week 14 or whatever. I am weak with anticipation:)
Posted by: jaytch | January 28, 2010 08:38 AM
@jaytch, thanks for that... I'm now even more excited about the premier next week... We get to find out what/who Smokey is??!?! That is going to be awesome!!
Shoot, this entire season is starting to sound like it will be an incredible one!
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | January 28, 2010 08:45 AM
Posted by: Mr F. | January 28, 2010 08:52 AM
Posted by: jaytch | January 28, 2010 08:56 AM
OK, off soapbox...
Posted by: fanolost | January 28, 2010 09:11 AM
do we even know for sure if the bomb exploded or not? who's to say the flash while juliet was banging on the bomb wasnt just the island course correcting and flashing jack & them back to present before juliet could succeed?
Posted by: buttercup | January 28, 2010 09:11 AM
@lovesteamykeamy - actually Rose and Bernard were briefly on last season's Lost. They were discovered by Sawyer, et al.,living in 'retirement' on the beach with Vincent the Wonder Dog (another character I miss).
Posted by: Yoga53 | January 28, 2010 09:11 AM
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | January 28, 2010 09:12 AM
@Yoga. I know they were on the finale, I'm just saying that we needed more of them than we saw...
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | January 28, 2010 09:14 AM
@lovesteamykeamy - we are in agreement regarding Rose and Bernard. I just wanted to be sure you hadn't missed that brief glimpse of hippi-style Rose and Bernard:)
Posted by: Yoga53 | January 28, 2010 09:41 AM
Posted by: fanolost | January 28, 2010 09:55 AM
More:
What is the island?
What is Smokie?
Why do some people resurrect? Is that all about burying the bodies? Christian wasn't buried and he's around. Locke wasn't buried - but now there are two.
Ben? Who is Ben? It's not Ben of the past because Sayid's bullet 'changed' Ben when he was brought to the Temple.
What/Who is Claire? Did she die? So she's more like an island person now?
Sorry. I'm having a bad day...
Posted by: fanolost | January 28, 2010 10:01 AM
@buttercup- WHA? Are you saying beating a thermonuclear device in a prone position with a rock is not a sure fire journey to armageddon? Actually, really good point, especially about the flashing. Say Radzinsky's drilling triggered a release of electromagnetism. That could result in the flash and conveniently send them back to their original time period. I like DAT!
@Mr F- I'm with you bro' on course correcting (and basically just not wanting them landing in LAX.) Plus that would explain why Desmond isn't in the current cast. The Swan wasn't finished, the incident never happened.
Posted by: flashest monk | January 28, 2010 10:01 AM

fanolost, here are some questions i posted on gitsiegirl.com
what happened to annie?
how did ethan go from being a darma to an other & was his dad an other?
what are the whispers in the jungle?
who built the 4 toed statue and why does it only have 4 toes?
how did the black rock get to the middle of the island?
why are the numbers so significant?
how did ben know to build a runway 3 seasons ago for the ajira plane to land on & where to put it?
how was locke able to walk after crashing on the island and is it just a coincidence that he hurt his leg and is wheelchair bound when he leaves the island?
why was daniel crying while watching the news about 815’s crash
whats with the ring of ash around jacob’s cabin and how does the cabin move?

Posted by: fanolost | January 28, 2010 10:55 AM

Was watching Some Like it Hoth last night and don't know if this has been pointed out before, but the apartment that little Miles found the first dead person who "talked" to him was apartment number 4. Wonder if it has significance, or it's just the writers throwing it in... Probably just the writers.
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | January 29, 2010 05:37 AM
@LostLover, that snippet you provided synchs with my cycle theory - and it would really interesting if they start from square one. We would all be saying... NO NO NO, don't go THAT way...
Or whatever. I am convinced Ben has memories of past cycle/loops. But again, he's not little Ben - he's the soul/thoughts of whomever entered little Ben in the Temple.
I agree Jacob may have told Ben to do the airstrip - but I also think Ben has a lot more free will and memory to manipulate - and maybe is why the strip, his operation, is done on Hydra, not main island?
Buttercup - any more for our list?
LSK? The number 4... hhhmm

But that has been on my mind for a while now.
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | January 29, 2010 07:29 AM
Posted by: Jenn3 | January 29, 2010 07:34 AM
@ lsk - I have this suspicion that Christian is not working for Jacob based on Alana's comment in the finale that someone else has been using the cabin for a long time. Are MIB/Christian/smokey one in the same? IDK but I don't think think that the Christian that spoke to Locke is working with Jacob.
Posted by: Jenn3 | January 29, 2010 08:08 AM

Posted by: AZWildcat | January 29, 2010 11:03 AM

Posted by: flashest monk | January 29, 2010 07:44 PM
@Jenn3 & Mr F... Not only was Christian with Locke in the cavern before he turned the donkey wheel, but he was also the welcoming committee at the barracks when Lapidus and Sun returned to the island.
Christian told them to wait for Locke, and with Ben in tow, Locke makes his presence known to them.
That is now two presumed dead people or entities that Sun has made contact with on return to the island.
Posted by: sk | January 30, 2010 08:37 AM
Ha!Ha!... Maybe Christian was waiting for Locke to return his shoes to him.

Gonna have to make one for all those Post-its I have. ;)
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | January 31, 2010 06:19 PM
@lsk- besides post-it notes, I use yarn and push pins to connect all the characters. It pretty much covers one wall of my cell, er, room. I find the only way it makes sense is if I wear my hat made of tin foil, because that hat blocks the gamma rays sent by shape shifting aliens from a parallel universe. No wait, those guys are from Fringe, I'm confusing my JJ Abrahms shows again, never mind. Just buy some yarn, any color but orange (if you're not sure why, ask Mr F.)

@Flashest monk... Thanks for the giggle. You always deliver hilarious observations that crack me up.

Posted by: sk | January 31, 2010 11:07 PM
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 1, 2010 05:43 AM

Posted by: LostAgain | February 1, 2010 01:27 PM
@LostAgain- I've been thinking that too since their last appearance. The only question I have about that is when Jack and Kate found Adam and Eve in the caves, Jack said they appeared to have been there for 40 or 50 years, and they were last shown in the late 70's... however, Jack could easily have gotten it wrong. He's like that sometimes.

Hey Flashest monk... The Orange Conspiracy. Love it!
Posted by: sk | February 1, 2010 08:02 PM
@sk- ORANGE ya glad they ain't landing in Portland?
Hey, seriously, any theories on the title of tomorrow's episode. Its not LAX, its LA space X. Why the separation there. What does that mean. Like an "LA ex" could mean your spouse from a previous marriage (all my ex's live in Texas.) X marks the spot? What? Any theories? You know it means something, just like Not in Portland meant something. (Was "X" how Daniel explained the variable?)
Posted by: flashest monk | February 1, 2010 08:10 PM
Posted by: flashest monk | February 1, 2010 08:26 PM
Could the X of the LA X episode possibly be an unknown person, (think Madame X). A player yet to be named ?

Just a little quote for my BenWagoners from Watch with Kristen:
Edward in New York: Will Ben Linus get any more honest this season?
According to Michael Emerson, no. "I have always meant to be forthright, it's just that sometimes you get in a pinch and your mission requires that you fudge the truth a ilttle and get things done!"

Forgot to say, watch the "Final chapter" video all the way through, it then plays a long promo with tons of clues and then the first 4 mins of the premiere.

OK. First, I hate snow.
Now... I'm thinking... Hugo becomes the 'new' Jacob at some point this season.
The stuff I saw promo-ing yesterday (because I couldn't get to work... see above) really gets me thinking he takes on this role (or Richard...)
And surprise, I think Jack is a recycled soul - and that's why he needed to go back to island...
My theories for today.
I CANNOT WAIT... I made dinner last night so all I have to do is reheat. Everyone knows not to call tonight...
Ack - 9 hours and 48 minutes!!!!!
Posted by: fanolost | February 2, 2010 07:13 AM
9 HOURS 10 MINUTES!!!!!

There is a primary election in Illinois today, and the local ABC TV station has said they will NOT cut into LOST with any election results. Gotta love that.
LA X is going to be the best premiere show/event ever.
Posted by: katy | February 2, 2010 07:58 AM
No one is talking about DESMOND!
He is not in the promo pictures and not listed in the cast.
ELOISE told him that "the island is not done with him yet" ---- so what is going to happen with DES? They cannot just "cast him aside" (pun intended).
According to the executive producers, DESMOND has been the favorite character (by viewers) since he started in Season 2!
What do you all think?
Posted by: bb | February 2, 2010 08:02 AM
Have you guys watched the new promo that appeared on the abc site today? It's called "No more questions....only answers" (link above).
It's too amazing to even comment on, but if you haven't seen it it's unbelievably awesome.

I forgot, @ Jenn3-ya got the Ben bobblehead ready?!?
Posted by: Tootsie | February 2, 2010 10:41 AM
Posted by: the gleester (artist formerly known as glee) | February 2, 2010 10:56 AM
Aloha can mean hello and good-bye.
There is the belief that the true meaning starts with loving and respecting our beings first and spreading the love to others, just like our ancestors did...An island filled with Aloha.
...Thank God that LOST is filming in Hawaii...A breath of life.
Posted by: sk | February 2, 2010 11:03 AM
@the gleester- even if we differ in opinions on Glee (can't help it, I like musicals... and mohawked bad boy Puck is hot... what? I like baddish guys.) promise I won't post a single spoiler. I like the theory that you have... it sounds kind of right.
6 more hours to LOST!!!!!
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 2, 2010 11:04 AM
The show Glee is not realistic. There is no way that two performers/cheerleaders would let a guy take the lead away from them in a single ladies routine. NO WAY. that show should have started out with those 2 girls fighting it out to play lead.
So I guess that show is pure escapism but not as funny to me it is as silly as ugly betty which i never got into as well.
Posted by: the gleester (artist formerly known as glee) | February 2, 2010 11:15 AM
Posted by: AZwildcat | February 2, 2010 11:19 AM
Watched the clips again.
Does that mean we should be worrying about Rose now ?
Posted by: sk | February 2, 2010 11:22 AM
hey azwildcat - did you know twistie and I are both tucsonans?! unless you are one of our relatives and not letting us know ;)
I foresee jack traveling back to the city to 'touch' the 2nd generation losties to keep them on the right track so they too come to the island when it is needed
Posted by: the gleester (artist formerly known as glee) | February 2, 2010 11:24 AM
@ lovesteamykeamy
I too love the bad boys - just ask twistie she despairs over what my future is to become.
Posted by: the gleester (artist formerly known as glee) | February 2, 2010 11:28 AM
@AZwildcat...The babies. Four children. Two boys. Two girls. Aaron, Charlie, Clemintine, Ji Yeon. ???
Posted by: sk | February 2, 2010 11:30 AM
Yeah, I know Glee isn't realistic... but then again, neither is LOST. ;) Won't say anymore about it, since it's Lost Day! YAY!
I've given up studying... it's all about theorizing and prepping. What's going to happen now that Jacob is gone? Who's coming? Ilana and crew? And maybe most importantly... WHAT'S IN HURLEY'S GUITAR CASE?? Is it actually a guitar? Or something vital to the Island or something? That's been bugging me since he brought it on the plane and it ended up as the only thing that flashed to the Island with them.
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 2, 2010 11:33 AM
touche lovesteamykeamy. I will say no more negative words about glee.
so who here is having the finale of the final season party??? there just HAS to be one...
Posted by: the gleester (artist formerly known as glee) | February 2, 2010 11:36 AM
Eh, everyone's got their opinions, sorry if I seemed hostile.
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 2, 2010 11:40 AM
@sk Why worry about ROSE??
Posted by: bb | February 2, 2010 11:48 AM
Because the plane is going to land, and the island will not get to cure her .
Posted by: sk | February 2, 2010 11:50 AM
So LOCKE will still be in wheelchair??
Posted by: bb | February 2, 2010 11:56 AM
Maybe what end up happening is like what happened in the last attempt to reach the island - flashes some people off the plane onto the island and the others go... somewhere else? They did set a precedent that the island will take who they want if the timing is right.
Posted by: the gleester (artist formerly known as glee) | February 2, 2010 11:56 AM
If the plane lands, who will still have memories of what happened? Anyone?
Those who stayed on island? Those who left the island? Will DESMOND still be on island pushing the buttons in the hatch?
Posted by: bb | February 2, 2010 11:59 AM
I hope we don't have to worry about Rose. She's too good to lose. Ugh, the wait is killing me today! Can we just jump to 8pm? I want to watch LOST!!!
5 more hours.
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 2, 2010 12:00 PM
I don't think Oceanic is gonna land at LAX with everyone just disembarking... heck no.
But...
@LSK? Is Jacob gone? Just cuz he's stabbed and rolled into a fire... doesn't mean he's done (literally!).
But I also think his soul could go into someone - someone who has yet to die - like Hurley or Myles or whomever.
Now I have to go look at season 5 dvd cover... ppffftttt!
4hrs and 48 minutes... EST. Sorry westerners.....
Posted by: fanolost | February 2, 2010 12:12 PM
I noticed an article said that the creators do not intend to wrap up all the questions and leave some mysteries.
So if you had just ONE question that had to be answered what would it be?
Mine: What are the rules? You know, like the one that whidmore apparently broke (via steamykeamy) by killing ben's daughter? Or the one whidmore broke by having a baby with an outsider. what other rules does the island demand?

Twas' hours before lost and all cross the land
People were wondering what was at hand
The DVR’s were all set from seven to ten
With lots of bobble heads looking like Ben
Glee brings the snack while I bring the beer
And we all settled in to watch if we dare
Then all of a sudden there was such a clatter
Black turns to white oh what is the matter
To be continued…
Posted by: twistie | February 2, 2010 12:23 PM
@fanolost- I hope he's not gone... we were just getting to know him, and he was pretty cool, and still mysterious.
Come to think of it, now that you mentioned Hurley again... did we see Hurley at the big fight at the Swan Site? Totally adding that to my theory! Really, I do like Hurley, it just makes for a good theory...
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 2, 2010 12:25 PM
JACOB did not visit HURLEY in person like he did everyone else until 2007 (in the cab with Charlie's guitar case). He had seen everyone else years before.
Was JACOB waiting to see who would be the best replacement for him?
Just thinking out loud...
Posted by: bb | February 2, 2010 12:31 PM
@bb - interesting.
LSK - keep theorizing!
FYI, that link is no spoiler - it's just the three chatting and Josh looking yummy... and Evangeline - yeah well, less on the lipstick... heheheh

Haven't posted since the end of season 5 - but I've been lurking . . . I saw the promo in Desperate Housewives and ran it back about 6 times, it was so good. Sure hope we don't have any satellite issues tonight - I'll have my battery digital TV ready just in case!
Posted by: berky | February 2, 2010 12:56 PM
az wildcat, you got me thinking if there's any correlation between the fact that there are three kids born of losties(charlie, aaron, & ji yeon) and there are three kids that used to live on the island that went back (miles, charlotte & daniel)
Posted by: buttercup | February 2, 2010 12:59 PM

@ fanolost - Thanks!
I hope I have something more theory-based to contribute tomorrow - I'm getting so nervous, 4 hours out, I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through the evening!
Posted by: berky | February 2, 2010 01:10 PM
Ugh, why do I have this fear that my tv is gonna get messed up tonight? Just going to have to keep my fingers crossed that everything keeps fine for the premier... I don't feel like running up and down my street to get someone to let me watch it. ;)
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 2, 2010 01:15 PM
@buttercup - this theory - what is Charlie doing in your idea he was born of losties?
Really? What am I missing?
LSK - trash that thought and burn some white sage around your TV...
@berky - when do you think you're get that 'Oh my f-ing g-d' moment tonight...
For me, it's likely the first 5 minutes or the end of the 1st hour... HA

PLEASE Daniel --- be kind to LOST in your postings after tonight's show. No negativity this year!
Posted by: bb | February 2, 2010 01:31 PM
Posted by: the gleester (artist formerly known as glee) | February 2, 2010 01:33 PM
@glee, the First (if you like this...)
Posted by: fanolost | February 2, 2010 01:38 PM
@ fanolost
I think that moment will be at 10:58 pm EST. These guys - show runners, writers, etc. - do an excellent job of creating that WTF moment for us to go to sleep on, or to talk about all next day, or whatever. Now, I'm outta here (work) and on my way home - my angst is being worked up to a fever pitch!
Posted by: berky | February 2, 2010 01:41 PM
@glee, the First, part two...
So the 3 'new' drawn group in the 2000s would be MIB/Locke, Ilana, and who? Richard? Nah... Ben? Afterall, he's in the statue with MIB/Locke.
And the 3 in the 70s - Jack, Sawyer and Kate?
I still like Hurley for a Jacob or Richard kind of guy... with Miles being his opposite.
Posted by: fanolost | February 2, 2010 01:41 PM
@gleester, Juliet could be involved in a causal paradox.
Suppose this is the Incident, and let's say the bomb going off on the island is what affects the women on the island from being able to have babies. So because Juliet set the bomb off, Juliet ends up being the reason Juliet is brought to the island to begin with. Maybe if she doesnt explode the bomb, the women are able to have babies, and Juliet is never brought to mystery island in the first place.
Can I get a... WHH!!! :)

Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 2, 2010 01:54 PM
Whats up Losties I cannot wait! I hope the dive right in and answer some questions then get on with the new story line.... So excited for this 2hr event tonight
Posted by: thomas | February 2, 2010 02:01 PM
I used to live in that family lovesteamykeamy but then I gave my bro (and nephew) all the seasons on DVD and that fixed it!
I do get hopelessly mocked at work though and my response is "what tv shows do YOU watch that cause you to ponder and discuss the intersection between science, theology, philosophy, literature and children's fables hmmm?" that usually shuts them up.
less than 5 hours to the premiere!
gotta go to a meeting - talk to you all tomorrow!
Posted by: the gleester (artist formerly known as glee) | February 2, 2010 02:12 PM
fanolost: charlie= des & penny's boy..i consider des a lostie cuz he crashed his boat on the island same as the 815ers, but maybe you're right cuz azwildcat made me wonder how clemintine fit in, that would make 4 not 3 but maybe take charlie out cuz he wasnt born from an 815er & put in clemintine...i dont know anymore :)~
Posted by: buttercup | February 2, 2010 02:35 PM
I've basically counted Des among the Losties since he joined them, assimilated to them, whatever... Honorary Lostie... so that would make his Charlie a child of an Honorary. Clemintine I guess would fit just because of Saywer, probably. Dunno for sure, since Sawyer never met or talked to Clemintine, just set up all that money for her...
A little over two hours to go!!
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 2, 2010 02:39 PM
true sawyer never met clementine but she has his blood in her and this story seems to be about blood lines with the children of people who have lived on the island coming back to find answers, i'd say clementine will have plenty of questions about her daddy one of these days!
Posted by: buttercup | February 2, 2010 02:49 PM
It'd be interesting to see what happens between the Sawyer-Clemintine Connection... I'd like to see Sawyer as a father to a nearly teenaged daughter... Bwahahahaha... Pity any boys that met him...
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 2, 2010 02:52 PM
Ugh.

OK...Time to take a breath!

I have one thing to say about the opening bits, and I'd probably say it no matter, so it's not really a spoiler: WHAAAAAAAAAAA?!!?

Holy Skittles!!!! I really want to say what I think but will wait for the West Coast. Love it as always.
Posted by: ST | February 2, 2010 08:07 PM
holy cow, that episode was so amazing!
Posted by: theorginallibby | February 2, 2010 08:11 PM
Holy awesomeness! I have so many questions and still sticking with the Bible theory - as in the Shephard (Christian, Claire, Aaron - maybe Jack, but mostly the first three) are good. I'll talk more tomorrow. But let me know if anyone else sees some intense Christian imagery with the Sayid scene. You'll know what I'm talking about...I hope...
UGH SO GLAD ITS BACK!!!
Posted by: ssarah badara | February 2, 2010 08:16 PM
For those of you who watched FlashForward, you will remember Charlie playing the evil Simon and explaining quantum mechanics to the lady on the train using the Schrödinger cat (two quantum states exist simultaeously and only one remains and the other perishes at time of the reveal.) I like both story lines and I'm glad Sayid made it back to the land of the living.
Posted by: flashest monk | February 2, 2010 08:16 PM
#ssarah - I will say the scene with Sayid in the spring mixed with blood reminded me of the scene in the Ten Commandments when Moses turned water into blood.
Posted by: flashest monk | February 2, 2010 08:19 PM
flashest! good to "see" ya again!! so much to talk about!! im in a philosophy/christian heaven - pun semi-intended...
Posted by: ssarah badara | February 2, 2010 08:21 PM
This episode wasnt good for me. NO answered questions. More questions arrived.
The shot with Juliet and sawyer kinda had some bad acting in it.
oh and no shit sayid died after they drowned him.
Posted by: #2 | February 2, 2010 08:36 PM
ssarah badara- I agree. When they pulled Sayid out of that water it looked like they were pulling Christ off the cross. Same body position. Yep. Very weird!
Posted by: M_Lost | February 2, 2010 08:43 PM
does anybody else feel like Charlie and Juliet just had cameos to plug their new shows?
Posted by: suzie | February 2, 2010 08:47 PM

Ooooooh my God!!! Loved it. Might have to retrace a few theories. And was so happy to see some familiar faces, as well as annoyed to see others. I think I got maybe two questions answered to the five or seven that came up.
SO GLAD LOST IS BACK, BRUTHA!

he did ask to be prayed for didn't he? but his "come back" was in line with richards death, not jacobs.

Did Richard die?? It looked like "Flocke" kicked the crap out of him...but it didn't seem quite enough to kill him!

FYI...Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are on Jimmy Kimmel tonight.
Posted by: sk | February 2, 2010 09:48 PM
First did anyone catch the "previously on Lost" skip and they said it twice. Maybe a way to signal a Parallel universe?
Also maybe smokie is the Angel Gabriel from the bible? Or Loki
Posted by: ChicagoEric | February 2, 2010 10:04 PM
OMG!!!!
No one should be disappointed with the awesome premiere tonight --- so much happened, and it was great!
Loved the parallel story in LA --- life not as good as they all thought it would be!
Cannot wait for SUN and JIN to get together!
So did MILES tell the truth when he said JULIET said "It worked" or was it that she was pregnant, and MILES did not want to tell that to SAWYER??
Posted by: bb | February 2, 2010 10:35 PM
I loved tonight's 2 hour premiere - maybe 2 glasses of wine helped. I think I understand some things and I have a projection for the finale that involves Jack and Sawyer - but I will wait till Daniel posts his always fine synopsis and maybe I will post my prediction.
Posted by: Yoga53 | February 2, 2010 11:31 PM
Do I remember that they took Ben to the temple when Sayid shot him? And did anyone catch that Miles had a funny look on his face while he was sitting next to "dead" Sayid? I bet it was because he was trying to connect with him and couldn't because he really wasn't dead!
Posted by: AustinWendy | February 3, 2010 04:35 AM
Desmond was on the plane sitting next to Jack where he was never on the plane before. His signature line? See ya in another life, brotha! The plane and landing, etc. is showing another life for all the Losties. The Island underwater (OMG) is another life. The Losties on the Island with the bomb not having gone off completely as expected - I think that is the "REAL" life - which has its own mysteries to resolve.
Posted by: berky | February 3, 2010 04:51 AM
As someone has already said: Parallel Universes!
The show runners said that they would be using a different narrative device this season - not flash backs or flash forwards. So it must be, Parallel Universes. How they get resolved, of course I have no idea.
Posted by: berky | February 3, 2010 04:57 AM
Posted by: Mr F. | February 3, 2010 05:13 AM
God I love this show.
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 3, 2010 05:37 AM
Oh, hope Daniel gets up the new diary soon... so excited to see it! :)
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 3, 2010 05:48 AM
@Mr F- Thanks. So according to quantum mechanics, the two events will run concurrently until one is revealed. Then one will exist fully while the other vanish. One logical conclusion for LOST is that the two parallel universes will intersect at the end and that will be the result. So which one is the preferred universe for we fans? Guess we will have to see how this plays out but personally, I am having a hard time with the L.A. version and the island being underwater.
See you in another life brutha!
Posted by: flashest monk | February 3, 2010 05:56 AM
Interesting to read all of your comments guys.
My main question would be;
What is the purpose of the 2 timelines?
Obviously it's cool to see what would have happened, but must be more to it that that. Any ideas?
Posted by: amarilloslim | February 3, 2010 06:13 AM
Posted by: fanolost | February 3, 2010 06:17 AM
I too am having a hard time with the LA version. It raises to many questions in regards to the characters past as we know (knew) them.
As I mentioned above, Jack not knowing Desmond from the running of the stadium stairs. But Christian still went to Australia, still died.
Not to mention Desmond being on the plane. So he never did the stadium steps, never entered the boat race, instead he is on flight 815.
And why is Locke alive? If they never go to the island, then wouldnt it be logical to assume Jacob never came to see him and save his life after his fall?
I dont know what to make of it yet.
Posted by: Mr F. | February 3, 2010 06:18 AM
TMZ says Daniel's post will be up tomorrow.
Posted by: jaytch | February 3, 2010 06:18 AM
@flashest
Good points about the parallel universes.
From a viewer/storyline point of view I think it would be strange if one just stopped, so they must merge somehow - but how? and why?
Also how did Juliet know it worked?
Interesting to see Jacks dad was _still_ sucked out of the plane and back to the island. Maybe to a past time.
So many questions - ha.

@ fanolost
Awesome insight that Hurley & Charlies personalities are different.
Also, wasn't Rose petrified before, this time she seemed pretty cool about things.
Posted by: AmarilloSlim | February 3, 2010 06:25 AM
Mr F, not sure I agree, do you readily remember people you met in passing years ago? I think Jack thinks he knows Desmond but can't place him.
Posted by: LOSTAGAIN | February 3, 2010 06:33 AM
Posted by: Jenn3 | February 3, 2010 06:34 AM
@fanolost- LOL that Sayid is the new Juliet!
I snickered a little when they asked Jack to step to a courtesy desk, kind of guessed what was coming. And how he gave Locke a card to get a free consult from him, the miracle working spinal surgeon. But still having some trouble with the two realities... something's got to happen.
Posted by: lovesteamykeamy | February 3, 2010 06:35 AM
Oh and its interesting that even though they didn't know each other, and we assumed, well at least I did that if they hit the reset button they would all go on with their lives without ever knowing each other, they all ended up connected to each other anyway.
Posted by: Jenn3 | February 3, 2010 06:37 AM
Is there anything to the fact that every season premiere (I think) starts with Jack?
Also, when Jack is upset at finding out his father's coffin is missing, Locke says to him that his father's not lost...just his body is mising. Hmmm.......
Another thought going through my head is the feeling that the last episode of the series will have MiB/Locke and Jacob/Sayid sitting on the beach watching the latest disaster (Black Rock, Oceanic plane) and the struggle begins...again...and again...
Posted by: jaytch | February 3, 2010 06:38 AM
@LSK - it's only a theory... ha
Posted by: fanolost | February 3, 2010 06:43 AM
JULIET (through MILES) said "it worked" -- so she must have know that the bomb did take them back to 815/LA, and she also knew they were in parallel time on island.
It MUST be parallel universes---and they will come together and resolve in the finale!
Those who returned to 815/LA will not have the wonderful lives that they thought they would, and weill once again choose the island, since that is their destiny!
Posted by: bb | February 3, 2010 06:45 AM
@Flashest monk & Mr.F... Schrodinger's treatment of his cat is cruel. Later in his life, Schrodinger is rumoured to have said that he wished he never met the cat... I am not sure about anything any more.
I am now going to make some changes to my Lost wall chart.
Christian gone AWOL. I am still scratching my head over that one.
Posted by: sk | February 3, 2010 06:48 AM
@jaytch - cycle theory... yea.
Posted by: fanolost | February 3, 2010 06:48 AM
@ fanolost/amarilloslim
that was definitely something i noticed in the LAX timeline, how peoples histories were different. locke actually went on his walkabout, but in the end it was revealed that he is still in the wheel chair—does this mean his work on the island was never completed, thus is still being punished?
hurley being the 'luckiest person in the world,' boone deciding to leave shannon in australia, sayid getting off the plane to be reunited with nadia—these are positive things for those characters. does this mean they successfully proved themselves 'good people' on the island and are being rewarded?
ALSO— did anyone else notice that charlies hair was cut really short in the LAX timeline? because on the original 815 flight, his hair was long and kind of nasty.
it was when 'dead charlie' went and visited hurley at the mental institution in the beginning of season 4 that we saw his hair cut short.
may be nothing, but i thought it was a difference worth noting.
Posted by: izzy | February 3, 2010 06:51 AM
Desmond is on the plane because maybe he WON the boat race. Without the incident, he never would have made it to the island. The thought is, he won the race and stayed in Australia or was visiting him. I agree that the first meet of him on the stairs still occurred, cause Jack was trying to place him. Not enough time for the two to talk about why.
Posted by: ChicagoEric | February 3, 2010 06:52 AM
Daniel is up and running.
Posted by: sk | February 3, 2010 06:53 AM
It's all progress...
Until the game change/end.

You can read Daniel's diary on TMZ's website, but for some reason he hasn't posted it on his own yet??? WTF?
http://www.tmz.com/2010/02/03/lost-diary-season-premiere/#continuedcontents
Posted by: Betheaux | February 3, 2010 06:58 AM
@ Fanolost:
I thought Jack asking Hurley why his name was on this referred to that piece of paper that was pulled out of the ankah that Hurley had in the guitar case. The guy broke it and pulled out the paper, then asked them all their names, as if checking off the paper and then believing that Jacob sent them and that if Sayid "died" they were all in a lot of trouble. Which Sayid did die....but now I think Jacob is inside him. :)
Posted by: I-Lander | February 3, 2010 07:00 AM
@LOSTAGAIN, in regards to Jack not knowing Desmond on the plane. Now maybe the running of the steps did happen, and both Dez and Jack simply cant place where they know each other yet.
I just found it odd, as when they met in the hatch Jack seemed to almost immediately recognized him. It took Dez a few moments to remember Jack.
Now surely I dont remember everyone in passing, but their meeting happened during a pretty important time in Jack's life. When he fixed and unfixable Sarah, surely he would remember the guy who kept asking him "what if you did fix her?".
